Chapter 79: Chapter 79: Capture Her Stomach

Julian brought every pastry and snack he could find at home to the table, hoping to leave a good impression on Kale.

Since Cassia had brought her younger sister with her, that meant Cassia had a favourable impression of him and was willing to introduce him to her family.

Julian had to perform well.

Fortunately, for tomorrow’s camping trip, Julian had already made quite a lot of pastries in advance.

Julian smiled and said, "There wasn’t much prepared at home, so please forgive the poor hospitality."

Looking at the dazzling spread of pastries on the table, Kale asked with a teasing expression:

"Wow, so many pastries. It wasn’t a waste for my sister to specially take leave and come see you."

Cynthia glared at Caitlin.

"Can’t all these delicious pastries shut your mouth?"

But Caitlin was completely fearless. Cynthia was currently playing the quiet and elegant Cassia, and Cassia would not teach her a lesson in front of Julian.

Instead, Caitlin could use Julian as her card and properly tease Cynthia.

Caitlin picked up a chocolate cookie and took a bite.

"It really is delicious!"

Caitlin’s eyes suddenly turned as she looked at the different snacks on the table.

"Why isn’t there any ice cream? Don’t you know my sister likes ice cream the most?"

Julian shot to his feet.

"I’ll make it right now!"

There was no ice maker at home, so he could only ask Machamp to use Ice Punch to help make ice cream.

This was indeed his oversight. He had forgotten that Cassia had absolutely no resistance to ice cream.

Preparing this many pastries was not as attractive to Cassia as a single box of ice cream.

In the future, he would have to keep all kinds of ice cream flavours at home!

To capture Cassia’s heart, he first had to capture Cassia’s stomach with ice cream.

Julian looked at Cassia.

"Sorry, Cassia. This really was my oversight. Today, try the ice cream I make by hand."

Cynthia raised her hand, about to tell Julian to sit down, but Caitlin grabbed her hand and smiled.

"Then you’d better put your heart into it. Don’t let it taste worse than the ice cream truck outside."

Julian smiled faintly.

"Don’t worry. Ice cream I make with my full effort isn’t something a roadside food truck can compare to."

At home, he had cocoa powder, strawberries, mangoes, bananas, oranges, and blueberry jam he had made in advance.

With cream, egg yolks, and milk, he only needed to briefly whip and mix everything together.

Then Machamp would use Ice Punch several times. After every freeze, Julian would stir it once to prevent ice crystals from forming and affecting the texture.

That would be enough to produce proper ice cream.

Machamp calmly followed Julian’s requirements and froze the ice cream to just the right degree.

In only ten minutes, Julian brought out two servings of chocolate ice cream.

After tasting it, Caitlin nodded slightly.

"It really is good. I think I can taste a deep love inside. What about you, sister?"

Cynthia scooped up a spoonful and felt the silky texture of the chocolate ice cream. Her eyes instantly lit up, and without realising it, she took spoonful after spoonful.

Julian looked at her with expectation, waiting for Cassia’s evaluation.

Cynthia smiled.

"Mm. It’s very delicious. It feels like suddenly entering an air-conditioned room on a scorching summer day. My whole body and mind feel comfortable."

"After eating this ice cream, I feel like I’ll never be able to accept cones from food trucks again."

Julian smiled confidently.

"As long as you like it."

That meant Julian’s tactic had taken effect.

In truth, Caitlin had not been joking.

With Caitlin’s psychic power so strong that it was almost out of control, she really had tasted the affection Julian had poured into the ice cream while making it — his affection for Cassia.

"Cassia, do you need me to turn the remaining ice cream into cones?"

Cynthia shook her head.

"I can’t eat any more. It’s almost time for dinner. Where’s Maylene?"

Julian shook his head.

"Her? She should have run to the Pokémon Centre to challenge the hundred-win streak. I’ll call her back now."

After learning that Cassia had arrived, Maylene returned at the fastest possible speed.

"Cassia, long time no see!"

After greeting her, Maylene finally noticed Caitlin beside Cynthia.

"And this is?"

Caitlin waved.

"Hello, I’m Cassia’s younger sister, Kale."

Maylene extended her hand.

"Hello."

Younger sister?

Same blonde hair, just as beautiful.

She had never heard of Elite Four member Cynthia having a younger sister. Was her suspicion wrong?

Cynthia had no idea that Maylene had already begun suspecting her true identity.

"Since Maylene is back, let’s go to Chef Saiba’s dessert café for dinner."

Julian immediately stood up.

"I’ll get the car. Wait for me at the entrance."

Cynthia sat in the passenger seat, while Maylene and Caitlin sat in the back.

On the way to the dessert café, Caitlin asked curiously:

"Since it also sells proper dishes, why is the shop called a dessert café?"

Julian answered, "Because Chef Saiba’s wife liked desserts. To commemorate his wife, even though Chef Saiba is skilled at signature cuisines from around the world, he still named the shop Saiba’s Dessert Café."

Caitlin nodded.

"It sounds like a romantic love story."

Cynthia, however, grasped the key point.

"Chef Saiba’s wife passed away?"

Julian nodded.

"That’s right. It seems to have been some incurable illness. Veilstone City was actually Chef Saiba’s wife’s hometown."

"Because his wife said she hoped the people of her hometown could taste Chef Saiba’s cooking, Chef Saiba came to Veilstone City and opened his shop."

Chef Saiba continued refining his craft.

Darius, meanwhile, had sunk into the past and could not free himself.

Comparing Darius and Chef Saiba, the difference was obvious.

After parking the car, the four entered Saiba’s Dessert Café.

"Uncle Saiba, we’re here to support your business again!"

There seemed to be quite a lot of people eating at the dessert café today.

Fortunately, there was one table left.

"Let’s sit over there."

Hearing Julian’s voice, Chef Saiba directly pulled open the curtain.

"Julian, come in and help."

"Coming."

Julian arranged Cassia’s chair for her.

"You all order first. I’ll go help Uncle Saiba."

Perfect. He could also ask Uncle Saiba whether he had any secret ice cream recipes.

Julian entered the kitchen.

"Uncle, what do you need me to help with?"

Saiba was making two dishes at once.

"Help me process these ingredients. I really can’t handle everything alone."

Julian asked curiously, "Why are there so many people today?"

Chef Saiba sighed.

"They’re all Cynthia’s fans. They heard Cynthia praised my shop’s food, so they specially came here to chase a celebrity."

"These kinds of customers have no way to truly appreciate the taste of the cooking."

But as a chef, he had to receive customers who had not done anything wrong.

While processing ingredients, Julian asked, "Uncle, have you developed any secret ice cream recipes?"

Saiba smiled and asked, "What? Your girlfriend likes eating ice cream?"

Julian said, "Cassia really does like ice cream, but I’m still working hard to make her my girlfriend."

Saiba patted Julian’s shoulder.

"Good. Very good! Then I’ll teach you the secret ice cream recipe I developed!"

There really was one!

After finishing the two dishes and sending them out, Chef Saiba returned to the kitchen, took a notebook out from a cabinet, found the corresponding section, and handed it to Julian.

"Look at this."

Julian read it carefully, constantly nodding. The design was extremely clever, with multiple flavours layered distinctly.

Cynthia would definitely like it.

"Uncle, I want to borrow the kitchen and try making this ice cream!"

Chef Saiba nodded.

"I’ll assist you! I guarantee you’ll bring the beauty home!"
