-----------------------
Early the next morning, Julian got up to prepare breakfast and discovered a thank you letter and notebook Enji had left for him in the living room.
Holding the letter, Julian went to the guest room and saw that it had been tidied neatly.
Enji himself, however, was nowhere to be seen.
"That guy. Why did he sneak away? It’s not as if I’d eat him."
Benefactor Julian,
Thank you for your help to Bellchime School and to me. I can’t stop thinking about your idea, so I plan to buy the earliest boat ticket back to the Johto region.
Bellchime School is exhausted and has nothing with which to repay you.
But I discovered that you also possess a psychic constitution. To express my gratitude, I have left behind our meditation method for improving psychic power.
You can train with Primeape. It should help his condition.
There are also some of my personal insights regarding psychic training.
They are rather shallow, so I hope Benefactor Julian will not dislike them.
When I successfully apply for a Gym and rebuild Bellchime School, I will certainly invite you and your sister to Johto.
Respectfully,
Enji
Julian opened the notebook.
Inside, sure enough, was an ancient and simple meditation method.
There were also many notes Enji had written beside it, helping Julian understand.
After the meditation method, there were three training techniques for strengthening psychic power.
One improved the confusion effect of psychic power, and another weakened the enemy’s mind.
From Confusion to Psychic, Enji had given him a complete training method.
With this, he had basically taught him both the internal cultivation and the moves.
Compared to the psychic training techniques researched by countless generations of monks, the psychic usage techniques Julian had developed during his Butterfree simulation were indeed rather shallow.
They were also not very suitable for human training.
Julian had still been constantly adjusting and trying to develop a psychic training method suitable for humans when he received this generous gift from Enji .
He was far too polite.
Julian had clearly only said a few unimportant words.
Maylene walked out rubbing her eyes and asked curiously, "Julian, what are you looking at?"
Julian handed her the notebook in his hand.
"Enji left us a meditation method. Do you want to take a look?"
Looking at the ancient script above, Maylene’s face scrunched into a ball.
"My stomach is very hungry right now, so my brain can’t think about something this complicated. Julian, hurry and cook!"
Julian shook his head.
He had actually hoped Maylene could understand a meditation method written in ancient script.
He really was an idiot.
The meditation method worked much better when used together with the ancient characters, which carried a strong sense of rhythm and charm.
It required relatively high literary attainment.
Before cooking, he first fed the Pokémon.
Last night’s harsh physical training had exhausted Primeape like a dead dog.
But after a night’s sleep, Primeape had recovered to a state full of energy and stuffed handfuls of food into its mouth.
Primeape’s Vital Spirit Ability was exerting itself.
As long as there was sufficient nutrition and rest, Julian felt Primeape could even train twice or three times a day.
Primeape’s potential had not been fully developed by the training content he designed.
After last night’s training, all six Pokémon had already recovered their condition.
Torchic, meanwhile, was still sleepy-eyed.
But the moment it smelled food, its eyes immediately widened, and it seemed even more energetic than Primeape.
It plunged its head in and began eating wildly.
Julian did not understand why a Torchic was so gluttonous.
"Eat slower. No one is stealing from you."
Although Julian’s current Fighting-type affinity allowed him to rather clearly sense the changes in Primeape before and after training, perhaps he could ask the observer Maylene mentioned yesterday, the one who used an instrument to analyse Primeape’s physical condition, to help observe Primeape’s training.
Using instruments as evidence would be more responsible towards Primeape.
Julian poked his head out of the kitchen.
"Maylene, later, help me find that lady. Primeape and I may need her help."
Maylene nodded.
"No problem!"
After breakfast, when Julian recalled his Pokémon, Primeape excitedly waved its fists.
"Key, key!"
Julian smiled and nodded.
Primeape was willing to accept Julian’s training arrangements, but Julian could not stop it from going on stage to battle because of training.
"All right. I’ll let you fight."
The siblings arrived at the stadium.
There were only eight Trainers remaining backstage.
Julian’s expression was normal, but the other seven people looked at him with wariness.
They were afraid that the upcoming draw would place them in a battle against Julian.
After the match list came out, the other six people all breathed a sigh of relief.
Only a man in leather trousers pushed up his glasses with an ugly expression.
The girl with glasses typed on her computer.
"Rock singer Jäger. His signature Pokémon are Houndoom, Mightyena, Manectric, and Granbull. He really likes canine Pokémon, and people gave him the nickname Mad Dog."
The uncle shook his head.
"Just hearing that makes me feel like he won’t be able to block two moves from Julian."
Before going on stage, Jäger rubbed his brow.
He just had to last a few more moves and not lose too much face.
"Go, Manectric!"
"Farfetch’d, take the stage!"
Although Farfetch’d had not asked, Julian still wanted Farfetch’d to appear.
After Farfetch’d entered the field, his eyes immediately became sharp.
Since Master trusted him, Farfetch’d would definitely give everything.
He would answer Master’s trust!
The uncle’s eyes lit up.
"So this is that Galarian Farfetch’d that hasn’t appeared before! Its eyes look pretty good. I wonder how it fights."
Seeing that it was Farfetch’d, Jäger clearly breathed a sigh of relief.
"Manectric, Thunderbolt!"
"Detect. Brick Break!"
Holding his leek, Farfetch’d used swift footwork and easily avoided Thunderbolt.
He rapidly rushed in front of Manectric and heavily swung down the leek in his hands.
"Manectric, Thunder Fang."
It wanted to bite the leek, but Farfetch’d rotated his grip, dodging Manectric’s mouth and fiercely striking Manectric’s face.
Manectric was directly knocked into the air.
Farfetch’d pressed the advantage, charging towards Manectric’s landing point.
"Superpower!"
An all-out strike carrying Farfetch’d’s conviction.
Manectric, along with the ground around it, was directly smashed downward, dense cracks spreading everywhere.
Farfetch’d withdrew his leek and stood upright in the centre of the field.
The spiky-haired guy clapped excitedly.
"This Galarian Farfetch’d from the Galar region is so cool! The leek in its hands is like a spear. Amazing!"
Jäger’s expression was somewhat ugly.
Julian clearly had not used those experts like Hakamo-o, Primeape, or Gallade, nor had he used that madman Croagunk.
So why had Jäger still lost in just a few exchanges?
The referee waved the flag.
"Manectric is unable to battle. The winner is Farfetch’d."
Julian was also very satisfied with Farfetch’d’s performance.
The few moves had looked simple, but in truth, Farfetch’d had fought with one hundred and twenty percent focus.
Jäger gritted his teeth.
"Go, Houndoom!"
At the final moment, Jäger was still willing to trust his starter Pokémon.
Unexpectedly, Julian recalled Farfetch’d and switched to Primeape.
"Farfetch’d, you performed very well. Rest properly."
Seeing Primeape, Jäger’s face almost turned green.
"Houndoom, Fire Spin!"
"Dynamic Punch!"
With one punch, the Fire Spin was actually scattered directly.
Primeape charged forward and sent Houndoom flying with one punch.
Primeape was utterly addicted to the refreshing feeling of sending enemies flying.
The girl with glasses had only just taken out her instrument, but the battle had already ended.
"Ah! How did it end so quickly? Couldn’t this Jäger have held on a little longer?"
Right then, Maylene came over and told the girl with glasses that Julian needed data support.
The girl with glasses immediately raised her hand.
"I’m willing!"
