Mark arrogantly took out a Poké Ball and released an equally arrogant Pokémon, one with a huge red crest on its head.
Orange-crested lizard—
No, Scrafty.
A very typical Unova Pokémon.
The girl with glasses took out her computer and searched up Mark’s information.
"Mark’s Scrafty has shed skin around its abdomen with astonishing defensive power. It has helped it block many opponents’ finishing moves."
"And Scrafty’s legs possess terrifying strength, enough to kick through reinforced concrete pillars."
Mark was full of confidence.
"Scrafty, Crunch it!"
Scrafty held up its trousers, its teeth wrapped in dense Dark-type energy as it charged swiftly towards Gallade.
Julian said calmly, "Brick Break."
Facing the charging Scrafty, Gallade merely extended his elbow blade with composure.
The blade traced a beautiful arc and lightly passed by Scrafty.
Scrafty ran two more steps before suddenly falling face-first to the ground.
Mark’s eyes widened in disbelief, then he roared.
"Scrafty, get up!"
This was his Scrafty, tempered through countless battles.
How could it possibly be knocked down just like this...
By one Brick Break?
The referee waved the flag.
"Scrafty is unable to battle. The winner is Gallade!"
The audience erupted in uproar.
The uncle excitedly waved his fist.
"Did you see that? One-hit knockout! Another one-hit knockout!"
The girl with glasses frantically typed on her keyboard.
"Mark’s Scrafty is different from the previous Pokémon, yet it was still one-shot by Gallade. This Gallade is so strong..."
The spiky-haired guy shouted in satisfaction.
"So cool! Gallade really is worthy of being one of our Sinnoh region’s representative Pokémon. That one Brick Break was beyond awesome!"
The girl shook her boyfriend’s arm wildly.
"Babe, look. That Pokémon is so handsome. You should catch one too, okay?"
The boy smiled awkwardly.
"Sure. I’ll go catch one later."
That was Gallade.
An extremely rare Pokémon.
What ability did he have to catch a Gallade?
Mark gritted his teeth.
Looking at Gallade, a hint of wariness flashed through his eyes.
"Conkeldurr, you’re up."
The girl with glasses’ eyes lit up.
"According to the information, Conkeldurr was Mark’s first Pokémon and his strongest. This battle won’t be easy."
The uncle nodded in agreement.
"Just from Conkeldurr’s aura, you can tell it’s a battle-hardened veteran. Even with Gallade’s type advantage, this won’t be easy."
The spiky-haired guy said disdainfully, "In any case, I believe Julian and Gallade will definitely win!"
Killing intent flashed through Mark’s eyes.
"Brutal Swing!"
Together with the concrete pillars in Conkeldurr’s hands, its body was dyed with pitch-black Dark-type energy.
It spun wildly, swinging the concrete pillars with fierce momentum.
Like a tornado destroying a car park, it smashed down violently towards Gallade.
"Psycho Cut!"
Gallade extended his elbow blade, condensing a purple blade of psychic energy.
Though he moved second, he arrived first.
In an instant, he passed through Conkeldurr’s arms.
Conkeldurr weakly loosened its grip, and the concrete pillars in its hands flew out.
One smashed towards the wall, while the other flew towards Julian.
Julian did not dodge.
He simply stood where he was.
Blue light shone from Gallade’s eyes, stopping both concrete pillars in mid-air.
Then they flew back beside Conkeldurr and lay there together with it.
Julian smiled.
"Now, what do you think of Sinnoh’s martial artists?"
Mark’s face was ashen.
He could not believe that Conkeldurr had also been one-shot.
"Hmph. This time, I was careless. Next time, I’ll definitely show you how strong I am!"
After throwing down those harsh words, Mark left the field in a sorry state amid the audience’s boos.
The referee waved the flag.
"Conkeldurr is unable to battle. The winner is Gallade."
The referee’s eyes revealed disdain.
He had looked down on Sinnoh’s martial artists, yet this match was the fastest verdict the referee had given in the entire tournament.
The uncle’s eyes widened.
"Even Conkeldurr was one-shot. Just how strong is this Gallade?"
The girl with glasses pushed up her glasses, which flashed white.
"I feel like Gallade has the makings of an Elite Four Pokémon. Uncle, what do you think?"
The uncle nodded in agreement.
"But I don’t just think Gallade has Elite Four potential. Julian Veyne has even more of it."
The uncle pointed at the concrete pillar.
"I don’t know if you noticed, but when the concrete pillar flew towards Julian just now, he stood still."
"That wasn’t because he was too scared to move. It was because he trusted Gallade and believed Gallade would definitely stop the pillar."
"Just based on that trust in his Pokémon, he’s already not simple. It looks like our Sinnoh region is going to gain another Fighting-type Elite Four member."
The spiky-haired guy revealed a look of pleasant surprise.
"Then if he wins the championship, doesn’t that mean we’ll get to personally watch an Elite Four battle?"
The uncle shook his head.
"Compared to Cynthia, Julian is still much more inexperienced. But that exhibition match may be the most exciting battle of this entire tournament."
"As for the participating Trainers, rather than hoping they can defeat Julian, they might as well hope they can last a few more moves against him."
The girl with glasses nodded in agreement.
"Julian is indeed someone worth expecting to become a future Fighting-type Elite Four member."
Beside them, a pink-haired guy who had abandoned the Gym and secretly run over to watch the match pushed up his sunglasses while listening with perked ears, then giggled stupidly.
My son Julian has the makings of an Elite Four member!
This was not him boasting.
The audience all agreed.
After returning to the players’ lounge, Primeape jumped out again.
After two matches, Croagunk, Hakamo-o, and Gallade had all gotten chances to appear.
Surely it was his turn now, right?
"Fine. I’ll let you on."
In truth, during last night’s simulation, the Urshifu Julian played had already learned the key points of Rage Fist from Annihilape after escaping.
He had also personally experienced Rage Fist many times.
But Primeape’s temperament was unstable.
Julian had only just used Primeape’s crushing defeat against Gallade to begin basic training.
Before Primeape recognised the necessity of basic training for its growth, Julian did not plan to tell it the training method for Rage Fist.
Apart from evolution, there were many ways for Pokémon to grow.
It was precisely because Primeape possessed rage talent far beyond others of its species that Julian’s requirements for Primeape were even higher.
Unlike other Primeape, who were controlled by anger, Julian’s Primeape could control anger to a certain extent.
Primeape wanted to become the strongest Fighting-type Pokémon in the world.
Since it had such a goal, it had to correct its mistaken ideas.
Relying only on anger would not make Primeape the world’s number one Fighting-type Pokémon.
The final result, instead of success, would more likely be exhausting its talent early and becoming a tragic prodigy.
Julian looked at Primeape seriously.
"I can let you enter the match. But after we go back, you’ll have to do weighted frog jumps and punching training."
"And every Fighting-type move I require you to train, you must practise each one seriously fifty times. Can you do that?"
Primeape looked at Julian’s face and quickly withdrew its impatience.
Feeling the emotion Julian transmitted, deep love and strict expectations, Primeape stretched out its fist towards him.
"Key, key!"
Julian also extended his fist and bumped it.
"Then it’s settled. As long as you complete the training plan I set, Primeape, I will do everything I can to fulfil your dream!"
Primeape nodded firmly, its entire body burning with red flames.
"Key, key, key, key!"
Primeape swore that it would never disappoint Julian’s expectations.
