Flames ignited around Combusken’s claws as he swung his fists at the wind blades rushing towards him, doing his best to shatter them.

Aen gritted his teeth too.

"Pidgeot, use everything we have! Tempest Blade!"

This move stirred all the surrounding air into a storm that sliced apart the opponent. It had already completely surpassed the level of Air Slash.

It was basically taking Air Cutter, which formed one large blade of wind, and expressing it through Air Slash, creating countless dense wind blades instead.

For Aen to develop Tempest Blade, he really was talented.

At least when it came to controlling wind.

Pidgeot cried out, and the airflow around him was stirred once more.

Even the Trainers watching from the side began to feel short of breath, as if the air had grown thin.

Gradually, they understood why Aen had named this move Tempest Blade.

What made them even more unhappy than him stealing the first challenge slot was that this guy really was a good trainer.

Julian waved his hand.

"Combusken, Flare Blitz!"

Pidgeot kept beating his wings, sending countless wind blades slicing towards Combusken.

Every wind blade dimmed the flames surrounding Combusken’s Flare Blitz a little more.

By the time he reached Pidgeot, the flames were already like a candle in the wind.

Even so, Combusken still threw one final punch.

Then he fell helplessly towards the ground.

Julian recalled the unconscious Combusken into his Poké Ball.

He smiled and praised him.

"Combusken, you performed brilliantly. I’m proud of you!"

Aen breathed a sigh of relief.

In order to defeat Combusken, he and Pidgeot had already surpassed the usual limits of Tempest Blade.

Before today, this move had only been a fusion of two Flying-type moves, Air Slash and Air Cutter.

Today was the first time Pidgeot had truly managed to give it the feeling of suffocation.

Julian nodded and sent out Electabuzz to continue the battle.

Blue-white electricity flickered around Electabuzz’s two antennae.

Aen decided to strike first.

"Pidgeot, Quick Attack!"

Julian said calmly, "Discharge!"

Electabuzz quickly swung his arms, and wild electricity spread in every direction.

Pidgeot’s Quick Attack sent him straight into the electric net.

The electricity that had originally been spreading outward rapidly gathered towards Pidgeot’s position.

Pidgeot forced his way through the current, only to be grabbed by Electabuzz.

Electabuzz grinned, and even wilder electricity erupted from his body.

Black smoke rose from Pidgeot as he let out a pained cry and fainted.

Aen froze for a moment.

He had not expected that Pidgeot, who had just used Tempest Blade, would be taken down so easily by Electabuzz.

Julian smiled slightly.

"Aen, Pidgeot’s body is still a little too fragile. Remember to strengthen his endurance and willpower."

"I think very highly of your and Pidgeot’s future."

But right now, you still need more training!

Aen nodded, recalled Pidgeot, and sent out Gliscor.

"Gliscor, X-Scissor!"

Julian did not speak.

But when he encountered Electabuzz, a Pokémon outside the Fighting type, his performance was not satisfactory.

"Gliscor, use your tail!"

Gliscor swung his tail, wrapped it around Electabuzz’s right leg, and pulled.

He finally broke free from Electabuzz’s control and flew into the sky again.

Seeing Gliscor panting heavily, Aen knew he had to take a gamble.

"Gliscor, High Horsepower!"

Julian gave him the chance.

"Electabuzz, double Ice Punch!"

Frost seeped from both fists as they collided with the descending Gliscor.

Gliscor and Electabuzz were both forced back.

Gliscor crashed to the ground and fainted on the spot.

Electabuzz adjusted his breathing, clearly still able to continue fighting.

Aen recalled Gliscor and took out one last Poké Ball.

"This Scyther is the Pokémon who grew up with me. He is the sharpest blade in my hand. There is no wind he and I cannot control!"

A light flashed in Julian’s eyes.

So this Scyther is the Pokémon best at using Tempest Blade?

Scyther appeared on the field.

The moment he emerged, his eyes already revealed the pride of a solitary swordsman.

"Electabuzz, Thunderbolt!"

"Dodge. Razor Wind!"

Julian looked at him.

"Prepare yourself. Sirfetch’d is very strong."

Aen clenched his fist.

"Scyther, Air Cutter!"

Sirfetch’d swung his leek sword, his eyes flashing sharply.

His blade struck the weak point in the wind blade condensed by Scyther’s scythes.

In an instant, the wind blade scattered.

Sirfetch’d swung again, directly sending Scyther flying.

Aen made a prompt decision.

"Scyther, Tempest Blade!"

Wild wind began to blow around Scyther.

The pressure brought by Sirfetch’d made Scyther beat his wings and circle Sirfetch’d at top speed, forming an even more ferocious storm of wind blades that constantly closed in towards the centre.

Everyone finally understood what the true Tempest Blade looked like.

Julian smiled calmly.

"Sirfetch’d, Meteor Assault!"

Golden light bloomed from the leek sword, shattering every wind blade.

Sirfetch’d locked onto Scyther and leapt.

The blade struck straight at Scyther’s weak point.

Scyther’s body immediately went limp, and he fell to the ground unconscious.

Aen held his breath.

Julian walked over to Aen.
