Pokémon: My Online Friend Is Cynthia
Chapter 262: Three Moves To Cure Mewtwo’s Existential Crisis
Chapter 262: Chapter 262: Three Moves To Cure Mewtwo’s Existential Crisis
Unrestrained Psychic power surged out of Mewtwo’s body.
"Do you think you are Primeape? You are merely a human, even if you possess decent Psychic ability."
"Even if Primeape has consumed a great deal of my stamina, you cannot break my defence, much less withstand one of my attacks!"
Julian simply looked calmly into Mewtwo’s eyes.
"Want to try?"
With full confidence, Mewtwo directly descended onto the arena floor.
"Then let me see how powerful this human strength you speak of really is!"
Maylene excitedly waved her fist.
"Brother, show him how strong humans can be!"
Cynthia walked to Garchomp’s side and had Garchomp stay alert.
Cynthia trusted Julian, but using a human body to fight a man-made Pokémon like Mewtwo was far too risky.
A sensible person did not stand beneath a crumbling wall.
Cynthia knew Julian wanted to use this method to change Mewtwo’s mistaken views.
She supported Julian’s decision.
But Cynthia was worried about Julian’s safety, so she had Garchomp watch the battle closely and help immediately if anything went wrong.
Garchomp rubbed her fins together, her eyes focused on the battlefield.
After that brief exchange with Mewtwo earlier, Garchomp also longed to fight Mewtwo properly like Primeape had.
Misty looked at the battlefield expectantly.
"Do you think Julian can break Mewtwo’s defence?"
Brock frowned.
"I’m not sure. Martial artists are already at a disadvantage against Psychic power, not to mention Mewtwo’s strength is this overwhelming."
Ash clenched his fist.
"I believe Julian. Since he dares to go up there, he must have a way to beat Mewtwo!"
"Paul, what do you think?"
Paul was not certain.
He could confirm Julian was a powerful Trainer, but whether Julian could rely on his body and martial arts to defeat Mewtwo...
He did not know!
But he knew Julian would not do something without confidence.
Paul had seen just how cautious Julian was when they camped together.
"Julian will definitely win!"
Caitlin focused on the arena, unwilling to miss even the slightest detail.
Darach’s expression was complicated.
To be hired as the butler specially responsible for looking after Caitlin, Darach had experienced many things in life.
What had he not seen?
But a human battling a Pokémon was something even Darach had truly never seen before.
Humans had long since grown used to relying on Pokémon’s power to fight.
Team Rocket’s trio were also hiding in the shadows, watching this duel.
James asked curiously, "Jessie, Meowth, do you think this guy can do it?"
Jessie shook her head.
"How could a human have the power to defeat a Pokémon? I couldn’t do it, anyway."
Meowth touched his chin.
"I think if I can learn human language, then humans having Pokémon-like power isn’t that strange, right?"
"I think he can do it, meow~"
Under everyone’s attention, Julian clenched his fist, and white Fighting energy flashed briefly.
Julian tapped the ground with the tip of his foot, and his whole body shot towards Mewtwo.
Blue light shone from Mewtwo’s eyes, and a brilliant blue barrier condensed in front of him.
A human’s insignificant strength could never break his defence!
A small pink cat was also spinning through the air, watching the duel between Julian and Mewtwo.
She also wanted to know whether humans could possess the power of Pokémon.
Julian’s fist landed on Mewtwo’s blue Psychic barrier.
The barrier shattered on impact.
Mewtwo’s eyes filled with shock.
How can my barrier have been broken?
How strong is this human?
Julian nimbly withdrew his fist and did not follow through by striking Mewtwo.
He smiled faintly, jumped back, and spread his hands.
"See? Your barrier broke."
Breaking only the barrier and not attacking him made Mewtwo feel deeply humiliated.
He would rather have been sent flying by Julian’s punch.
Mewtwo flew straight into the sky.
"Then try my Shadow Ball!"
Mewtwo aimed at Julian, raised his hand, and condensed a Shadow Ball.
He threw it down towards Julian.
Julian stood calmly in place and did not dodge!
The corner of Cynthia’s mouth lifted slightly.
This Julian was actually playing this kind of little trick.
Ash, however, shouted, "Watch out!"
With his hands behind his back, Julian hooked the incoming Shadow Ball with his foot, spun, and kicked it back!
Mewtwo shifted left, staring at the Shadow Ball as it flew past him.
His eyes were filled with uncertainty.
His Shadow Ball had actually been kicked back by this human?
How could a mere human perform such precise control?
Not dodging the Shadow Ball, but returning it instead.
Was there anything harder for Mewtwo to accept?
"Mewtwo, fair is fair. Try this from me too!"
A pure white ball of Fighting energy condensed in Julian’s hand.
Using Aura to lock onto Mewtwo, Julian fired the energy sphere from his palm.
Mewtwo’s eyes widened.
So fast!
Mewtwo shifted right, but the energy sphere suddenly exploded after passing beside him.
The powerful force pushed Mewtwo towards Julian on the ground.
Julian suddenly leapt up and roared!
Julian’s fist drove forward, wrapped in black energy and sharpened by months of relentless training.
It struck Mewtwo squarely in the chest.
One clean hit.
That was all he needed.
Mewtwo shot back into the sky like a cannonball, even faster than when he had fallen.
Intense pain spread from Mewtwo’s chest.
Impossible!
Mewtwo felt as if the power inside his body had been scattered by Julian’s punch.
Maylene clapped excitedly.
"Brother, what move was that!? That was amazing!"
Julian stood calmly in the centre of the arena.
"Wicked Blow. A hard fist needs no second strike. The Dark Scroll at home contains this finishing move."
Single Strike Style Urshifu.
Wicked Blow!
It was a Dark-type strike that never missed the vital point.
Not because it was fuelled by cruelty or hatred, but because every movement was refined for one purpose: breaking through the opponent’s guard with a single decisive blow.
Mewtwo’s weakened body crashed heavily to the ground.
He supported himself and stood, his telepathic voice somewhat broken.
"What exactly... did you do? Where is my Psychic energy?"
Julian raised an eyebrow.
As expected of a weapon carefully created by Team Rocket.
After fighting Garchomp, Primeape, and other Pokémon, as well as Julian himself, he still had stamina remaining.
Then again, without a insane endurance, how could he be called a weapon?
Julian smiled.
"Relax. That was Dark-type move. It struck a vital point and disrupted your focus. Your energy hasn’t disappeared, your control over it has only been shaken. Give it a little time, and it’ll recover."
"Mewtwo, after this series of battles, I think you should understand that the relationship between humans and Pokémon is not as simple as what you saw."
"There are good and bad humans. Among simple Pokémon, there can also be Pokémon with harmful ideas."
Hearing Julian’s words, Meowth nodded in agreement.
"Yeah. Meowth just purely wants to do bad things, meow."
Ash and Pikachu also walked forward, and Pikachu began persuading Mewtwo with a string of pika-pikas.
Mewtwo’s gaze seemed to waver.
He still did not truly understand the relationship between humans and Pokémon.
But after having his barrier broken, his Shadow Ball returned, and his energy disrupted by Wicked Blow, Mewtwo was forced to accept one thing.
His plan to lead the cloned Pokémon and rule the world had no chance of succeeding.
From the moment he was born, he was stronger than every Pokémon.
Thinking back on his boasting now, Mewtwo faintly felt a little embarrassed.
