Julian froze for a moment and realised he had indeed overlooked the power of love.
But the love between Dipplin and Jigglypuff was destined to have no good ending.
After evolving, Dipplin naturally formed a new band with Jigglypuff and began their road of touring performances.
After Dipplin left, the cellar no longer stored Honey Apples.
Every day, Applin came to the door asking whether there were still any Honey Apples.
Julian simply told them that the Honey Apples were all on the trees. If they wanted them, they could pick them themselves.
Planting trees and harvesting fruit?
Julian was not their father.
Time hurried by, and this simulation had already gone on for half a year.
Julian really did find a little knack to Dragon Dance.
He might still need another two years before he could truly use it.
Julian was lying beneath a tree, taking an afternoon nap, when an arrogant voice sounded.
"So you’re the Gible?"
Julian sat up and saw an earthy-yellow Axew.
Axew was not commonly seen. An Axew so round he was almost a ball was even rarer.
Julian looked at the round Axew.
"Need something?"
Axew raised his head.
"I heard that in just half a year, you’ve already trained three Dragon Pokémon who successfully formed teams with Jigglypuff."
"I want you to train me so I can form a band with Jigglypuff too."
"Tell me. What do I eat?"
Julian waved his hand.
"No time!"
"Besides, Applin evolve into Dipplin by eating Honey Apples because their Supersweet Syrup can make the audience scream."
"You’re an Axew. Do you have that kind of function?"
He still tried to argue.
"Then what about Flygon? Why could she form a team with Wigglytuff?"
Julian said coldly, "Flygon is beautiful, and she can vibrate her wings to produce a pleasant soprano. Can you?"
Axew sat down on the ground in defeat.
He really could not.
Noibat returned with water. The moment it saw Axew’s distinctive body shape, it immediately recognised his identity.
"Boss, this guy is the grandson of the Judgement Dragon. If his request isn’t too excessive, I think it wouldn’t hurt to satisfy him."
After living here for half a year, how could Julian not know about the Judgement Dragon?
These Fairy Pokémon really were crafty.
They presented themselves as positive figures who brought happiness to everyone.
The Pokémon responsible for monitoring violations on the island were Charizard and Altaria.
The one responsible for judging everyone was Haxorus.
Even if a Pokémon was truly judged and executed, the one everyone resented would be Haxorus.
Not the Fairy Pokémon behind the curtain.
Only concert management was entirely handled by Fairy Pokémon.
The reason given was that Fairy Pokémon were more professional when it came to performances.
Julian curiously walked over to the round Axew and asked, "Since you say you’re the Judgement Dragon’s grandson, why don’t you inherit your grandfather’s business? Why do you want to form a band instead?"
Axew shook his head.
"Being the Judgement Dragon has no future. My dad was one too, but when he was judging a Gyarados, didn’t he get dragged into the sea?"
"He was clearly much stronger than that Gyarados, but in order to judge it, he ran into the sea. In the end, he died together with Gyarados."
Julian’s intuition told him there was more to this.
Julian glanced at the distant sea.
If his intentions were exposed and he was hunted by the Fairy Pokémon, could the path to survival be at sea?
No.
There were so many Altaria. Gabite could not fly either.
Unless he evolved into Garchomp, he would not be able to escape at all.
If he wanted to overthrow the Fairy Pokémon as the rulers of the island, he had to endure.
He also had to learn to be affectionate with Fairy Pokémon!
It seemed he also needed to choose a suitable Fairy Pokémon and form a band.
"Alright, you can stay. But you can’t eat randomly anymore. If you want to form a band, you have to learn self control and endurance!"
Axew gritted his teeth.
"I’ll listen to you. If I eat randomly again, you can throw me into the sea!"
For this Axew whose father had died in the sea, that oath was quite ruthless.
After Axew joined, Julian took him running around the island.
At the same time, he searched for a suitable target to form a band with.
His goal was only to find a few Fairy Pokémon to form a band with, not to become famous.
On the very first day of running, Julian found a suitable candidate.
A Mawile by the roadside, biting stones by herself for fun.
According to conventional standards, Mawile definitely would not be suitable.
Julian immediately ran up.
"Hello. I think you’d be very suitable for our band. We happen to be missing one member. Are you interested in joining?"
Mawile’s eyes widened, and she pointed at herself.
"Are you sure you want to invite me into your band?"
Julian nodded hard.
"That’s right. You. Your unique aura made me notice you at a glance among the crowd."
Mawile looked left and right.
There did not seem to be any other Pokémon around.
Julian struck while the iron was hot.
"We’re inviting you with great sincerity. What’s your answer?"
Mawile waved the large jaws behind her head.
"I agree!"
"When do we rehearse?"
Julian smiled slightly.
"Don’t be anxious. For the band to make a stunning debut, I’m currently searching for a suitable rehearsal venue."
"Once I find one, I’ll inform you immediately!"
She nodded excitedly.
"Alright. I live over there, beneath the cliff with three trees. You’ll find me easily."
Julian nodded.
"For the sake of our stunning opening performance, please make sure to keep the fact that you’ve joined the band secret."
Mawile gritted her teeth.
"Alright. I’ll try to endure it, but you need to be quick. I’m afraid I won’t be able to hold it in."
Mawile hummed a little tune and happily returned home, already imagining the sight of herself performing on stage.
Julian returned to the road, and Axew huffed and puffed as he caught up.
"Were you... talking to someone just now?"
Julian said calmly, "No. I was waiting for you."
When he had just returned home, Noibat pointed angrily at a Spritzee lying nearby and said, "I don’t know what’s going on with this one. She fell from the sky, then refused to leave, saying the scent of the orchard was very suitable for her to live in."
Julian’s eyes lit up instead.
"Spritzee, are you willing to join my band? We happen to be missing a member like you."
Spritzee sprang to her feet.
"As long as I can stay here, I’m willing!"
Julian nodded.
"Welcome to the Cry-or-Laugh Band!"
In this awful place, forming a band really was enough to make one cry and laugh.
Noibat came closer.
"Can I join that Cry-or-not band of yours?"
Julian shook his head.
"Sorry. You should know why."
Noibat’s eyes dimmed slightly.
"I understand. After I evolve, I’ll go find Fairy Pokémon and form a band on my own."
Julian also sighed.
Night fell. Julian took Noibat on a walk beneath the starry sky.
"Aren’t you worried that Spritzee has a problem?"
Julian smiled.
"No. If she does, that’s even better."
What he wanted was a spy!
A glowing thing appeared ahead. Julian focused and looked carefully.
A glowing Morelull?
Interesting
He immediately ran forward.
"Please, you absolutely have to join my band. Our band is missing a sparkling member exactly like you!"
Morelull said weakly, "Can I bring my friend too?"
Julian’s eyes shone as he asked, "May I ask who your friend is?"
Morelull hurriedly answered, "She’s a Milcery. Is that alright?"
Julian happily shouted, "Of course! Our band warmly welcomes two powerful Pokémon like you!"
As expected, he was a genius.
He had formed a band in a single day.
