Chapter 230: Chapter 230: Victini and Jirachi

Julian smiled and nodded.

He knew Cynthia did not want to miss this interesting adventure.

He had been somewhat impatient just now because he was worried the influence Palkia had left on him would weaken as time passed.

If that happened, he might no longer be able to see the layer of spatial mist.

He might not find the correct way to enter the forest.

But Cynthia’s words also made Julian realise his thinking had been too impulsive.

If they barged in rashly, there was a real chance they would encounter danger.

As long as the forest was still here, they would eventually unravel its secrets.

"I really didn’t think it through properly. Let’s follow the original plan first. We’ll use food to summon the nature spirits, then go back and tell Professor Carolina."

Julian looked at the forest.

"I have a feeling the nature spirits should be connected to the secret hidden inside the forest!"

"Maybe we can learn something from them through the food."

Cynthia’s eyes lit up.

"That really is a good idea."

The two immediately took out cooking tools and ingredients, swiftly beginning their preparations.

Cynthia’s cooking skills might not be especially good, but she had no problem helping.

Imitating the dishes in the ancient recipe book, Julian made ten dishes in one breath. They had no special effects, but their colour, aroma, and taste were all excellent.

Following the ritual, Julian began calling out to the nature spirits.

They did not have to wait long before Julian saw the food in front of him begin disappearing.

Unlike before, Julian still could not see what the nature spirits looked like with his naked eyes.

But he could sense spatial fluctuations. That was why he had been unable to see the nature spirits last time.

After gaining a trace of Palkia’s power, Julian finally released his Psychic Power and saw the hidden nature spirit.

Julian reached out and pulled the nature spirit out from within space.

Cynthia only saw Julian’s hands vanish as they stretched forward.

When he pulled them back, it looked as if he had caught something.

Before long, an orange Pokémon with V-shaped points on its head revealed itself.

Julian’s strength was great, and his hands were steady.

The nature spirit struggled frantically, but could not break free.

Julian smiled and said, "We mean no harm. We just want to make friends."

Julian turned Victini around and looked into its large eyes.

"You ate my food without even showing your face. Isn’t that a little inappropriate?"

"I’ll let go. Let’s talk properly, and don’t run."

Julian released his hands, and Victini showed no sign of fleeing.

It folded its little arms.

So what if I ate some of your food?

Cynthia was somewhat curious.

"This seems to be a legendary Pokémon from Unova. It’s called Victini, right?"

Julian nodded.

"The Victory Pokémon, Victini. According to legend, whoever gains Victini’s power will be unbeatable."

Julian glanced at the dishes.

"I originally thought the ancient recipe book was impressive, but it turns out it was just borrowing Victini’s power."

How disappointing...

A yellow, star-shaped Pokémon also revealed itself from within space.

Cynthia was even more surprised.

"There’s actually Jirachi too!"

"How did these two end up together?"

Jirachi was somewhat shy, but Victini was completely shameless.

It directly called Jirachi over to continue dealing with the food.

After Jirachi looked at Julian and Cynthia, the two of them both signalled for it to eat without worry.

Only then did Jirachi join Victini and work hard to finish the ten dishes Julian had made.

After eating, Victini lay directly on the table and let out a burp.

Victini rubbed its belly and looked at Julian.

"Tini?"

Julian shook his head.

"I don’t have any wish I want granted. I just want to ask, did you two come from that forest ahead?"

Jirachi and Victini looked at each other and said nothing.

Julian continued asking, "Then is the power covering this forest connected to Palkia?"

Jirachi grew somewhat flustered, while Victini also froze in mid-air.

Victini grabbed Jirachi’s hand, and the two suddenly used Teleport.

They vanished before Julian and Cynthia’s eyes.

Julian nodded.

"Let’s go back. We’ve confirmed that they really came from inside the forest, and that this really is Palkia’s power."

Cynthia raised an eyebrow.

"I didn’t expect Celestic Town to actually have these two Legendary Pokémon. Julian, how do you think Jirachi has stayed awake for so long?"

Julian smiled.

"Perhaps it’s connected to Victini. According to legend, Victini possesses endless energy."

"As long as it replenishes Jirachi’s energy, maybe Jirachi doesn’t need to sleep."

The two drove back to the History Research Institute to find Professor Carolina.

After learning what they had encountered, Professor Carolina was truly overjoyed.

"Two happy events at once!"

Professor Carolina’s gaze shifted.

"I have a feeling that there are still many ruins across the land of Sinnoh that we haven’t found, all hidden away by ancient people."

"They may have been hidden using Palkia’s power, or Dialga’s power. It’s even possible both Pokémon’s powers were used at the same time!"

That faint trace of Palkia’s power they had detected in Julian’s body was the best tool to help them find hidden ruins!

Professor Carolina’s eyes moved thoughtfully.

"Since only Julian can see the white mist, that means the power around the forest is connected to Palkia."

"Give me a few days. Let me research an instrument that can analyse Palkia’s power. Perhaps it will help you and Cynthia find the correct way to enter the forest."

Julian nodded.

"Professor, roughly how long will you need?"

Professor Carolina touched her chin.

"At least a week. I need to ask some other Professors for help."

"If there are matters at Veilstone Gym, you can go back and handle them first. Don’t rush either. The secret hidden in that forest is definitely stronger than this trace of Palkia’s power you received."

"With only your own power, you definitely won’t be able to unravel the secret behind it."

Professor Carolina smiled.

"Celestic Town also has plenty of interesting sights. If you’re not in a rush to go home, you can wander around with Cassia."

Professor Carolina was giving Cynthia a chance to switch identities, but she had not forgotten her plan for great-grandchildren either.

Palkia and great-grandchildren.

Professor Carolina intended to grasp both firmly!

The facts proved that since Julian had a connection with Palkia, there was no need to rush.

Julian would naturally come into contact with things connected to Palkia.

Because of that, Professor Carolina had originally felt urgent about understanding the information, but now she became calm instead.

From the historical records she had obtained, humans like Julian were rare.

But over several hundred or even a thousand years, one or two would always appear.

Under Professor Carolina’s encouragement, the two properly toured Celestic Town.

They still rode Miraidon, though the speed was a little faster than the previous night.

This was Cynthia’s hometown, after all. She was afraid of being recognised by someone familiar.

The weekend passed quickly.

Julian said goodbye to Cynthia, giving her time to switch identities. At the same time, he also needed to return home to receive Trainers coming to challenge the Gym.

In truth, there was another reason too...

Affection always became richer and sweeter after a brief separation.
