Chapter 1047: Togetic Army

"Did the attempt to summon Rayquaza fail...?"

The moment Terrance received the news, his expression darkened.

Although he had prepared for many worst-case scenarios, when he actually learned that they would have to keep holding out, even Terrance felt somewhat powerless.

"Groudon and Kyogre have stopped struggling, but the rate at which natural energy is flowing into them has increased severalfold. It looks like they’ve realized that their current strength isn’t enough to break free from the suppression, so they’ve started trying to reverse their life level and awaken even greater power. Being forced to keep waiting is disadvantageous for us..."

"Isn’t there any equipment that can block natural energy?" Terrance asked.

"There are, but not many, and it would be very difficult to gather them in a short period of time. The Fairy Domain covers too large an area. Completely surrounding this region is practically impossible..." Besides Hoenn League Champion Steven, Ghost-type Elite Four Phoebe, Dark-type Elite Four Sidney, and Ice-type Elite Four Glacia—all the top battle forces of the League—were gathered in Route 127. In addition, even the retired Dragon-type Elite Four Drake had rushed over to provide support after hearing the news.

Elite Four Glacia was responsible for freezing the waters leading toward Sootopolis City and continuously reinforcing them, attempting to create a massive iceberg that would seal off the sea and prevent Groudon and Kyogre from moving in that direction if they broke free.

Elite Four Sidney and Elite Four Phoebe were searching along the nearby sea routes for traces of Team Aqua and Team Magma, preventing them from causing trouble again.

With so many Elite Four powerhouses gathered together, it should have been reassuring. However, things were not that simple. About half an hour after the Rotom Pokédex detected the increased influx of natural energy, the rate increased even further.

Even Altaria’s method of controlling natural energy to suppress other natural energy from approaching had no effect whatsoever.

Although they were being suppressed by the Fairy Army, Groudon and Kyogre’s ability to manipulate natural energy was far beyond Altaria’s. At their strongest, the two Super-ancient Pokémon could mobilize enough natural energy to affect the entire Hoenn mainland, while the natural energy Altaria could mobilize probably was not even enough to make moonlight shine over a large city.

Compared with Groudon and Kyogre, which had lived for at least hundreds of millions of years, Altaria was still far too inexperienced despite having inherited Xerneas’s Fairy Aura. Even if Xerneas itself were here, it would probably still be difficult to suppress Groudon and Kyogre at full strength. Under these circumstances, the pressure on Terrance kept mounting.

"Although Groudon and Kyogre appear calm, the Fairy Domain is gradually becoming unstable. If this continues, the two Super-ancient Pokémon could break free from the Fairy Domain’s suppression at any moment."

When this information reached the Hoenn League, the League representatives immediately began arguing. The representative who had previously proposed deploying large-scale weapons of war once again initiated a vote, but because there were too many abstentions, the proposal ultimately could not be carried out. Before the situation reached the most critical point, many representatives simply did not want to become the ones responsible for making such a decision and backed down at the last moment.

The Elite Four group present, Steven included, could all sense the weakness of most of the representatives. However, under the current circumstances, neither the Elite Four nor Terrance could think of a better solution.

When it came to fighting, every Trainer present was an expert. But when it came to governing a region, ensuring its stable development, controlling public opinion, and minimizing the impact of an incident, those were not their specialties. At the Hoenn League headquarters, the numerous representatives argued for a long time without reaching a suitable conclusion. No matter how they chose to handle this matter, the consequences afterward would be uncontrollable. Ultimately, there were simply too few ways to make the Super-ancient Pokémon Groudon and Kyogre regain their senses.

"So far, we’ve only come up with one possible solution. Once we can no longer suppress Groudon and Kyogre, we’ll deploy large-scale Hypnosis weapons and try to make them regain their senses by putting them to sleep."

"Hypnosis? Can it really succeed?"

Terrance muttered to himself inwardly and looked toward Mismagius. Mismagius’s Hypnosis ability had almost reached the very limit, yet even with the other three layers of restraints in place and countless enhancements applied simultaneously, its Hypnosis still had not produced much of an effect. Even if large-scale Hypnosis weapons were deployed, there was no guarantee they would work...

For now, this was the option with the least impact, a measure the Hoenn League had temporarily put forward to ease the pressure. As for the plan to deploy large-scale weapons of war, unless things reached the most critical moment, there were probably very few representatives who would truly dare to authorize it.

Those weapons were comparable to Earth’s nuclear weapons, and even surpassed nuclear weapons in destructive power and variety. They were taboo methods that were never used lightly, and once deployed, their consequences would be enormous.

Using such weapons against Legendary Pokémon, regardless of whether it succeeded or failed or what the reason was, would place tremendous pressure on the Hoenn League.

Just as the pressure on Terrance continued to mount, the Pokémon from Togepi Paradise finally arrived.

Togekiss led an army of 48 Togetic, all of which had perfectly evolved using the GX energy within Togepi Paradise, to provide support.

Through the television broadcast, countless people saw the army of Togetic flying neatly out of an aircraft. Led by a single Togekiss, the Pokémon flew in orderly formation to the outskirts of the Fairy Domain and stood by.

"My god, that’s so many Togetic..."

"And what’s with that discipline? Could they all be Elite Four Terrance’s Pokémon?"

After receiving Terrance’s summons, Togekiss did not waste any time. Following communication with the Mirage Kingdom’s royal family, Devon quickly transported Togepi Paradise’s Togetic army over to relieve Terrance’s pressure.

"They came at just the right time." Terrance nodded when he saw Togekiss. If the League had transferred over other Fairy-type Pokémon, Terrance honestly would not have felt very comfortable using them. After all, integrating into the Fairy Domain was no simple matter. But these Togetic had all been raised according to Terrance’s standardized training plan. Compared with other Fairy-type Pokémon, they were much easier to command and were also far more compatible with the Fairy Domain.

"Just how many Pokémon has this guy raised? Are all Elite Four this rich..." Far away in Ever Grande City, Albus was staying together with Fujiki and was also following the battle. At this point, Albus no longer cared how much stronger Terrance had become than him. All he hoped for was that Terrance would return safely.

With Togekiss and the Togetic army joining in, the stability of the Fairy Domain improved slightly. More importantly, the period for which they could suppress the Super-ancient Pokémon might now be extended. Terrance could only hope that someone would quickly come up with another solution during that time.

He had no desire to hold out until he and the other Elite Four had to fight Primal Groudon and Primal Kyogre together...

"I wonder if my current physique can handle using a Z-Move. But even if I use one, it probably still won’t make Altaria stronger than them..."

"And also..."

"That Mewtwo... I wonder if it heard Gardevoir’s call..."

Daytime quickly passed, and an eerily peaceful night slowly descended. Yet many people were unable to sleep. Terrance, who was still suppressing the Super-ancient Pokémon, had also received the prayers and blessings of all the people of Hoenn. At dusk, the sight of Elite Four Terrance standing guard at the very front line deeply moved countless people.

By now, Elite Fours from every region had learned that Hoenn had produced a powerful Trainer capable of suppressing two Legendary Pokémon at the same time.
