Chapter 67: Act 7: Giving God a Suggestion

  • Next Chapter

The first phase was to hold out without killing Romeo, waiting until he underwent a complete Werewolf Transformation to gain a level and Skills.

The second phase was, still without killing Romeo, to deal as much damage as possible to him, raising his Level and allowing him to acquire Skills. They needed to hold out until Romeo transformed into a regional boss, which meant acquiring a unique identifier.

Attacking Romeo could force him to gain Resistance Skills, but what about Experience Value?

Monsters with a Level were similar to Blessed Ones; they could absorb souls other than those of the Blessed Ones. This was why highly aggressive Monsters had extremely high levels.

Now that Romeo had undergone Werewolf Transformation, he could absorb souls to gain Power.

This was when Blaze’s preliminary preparations came into play.

[Aconite Grass Seed]

[Also known as Wolf Head Grass. Legend has it that it contains a Toxin that turns people into Werewolves.]

Blaze took a seed out of his inventory and clenched it tightly.

"[Soul Seed]"

Placing a soul into the seed would allow it a brief resurrection as a plant Life.

Blaze selected the Werewolf souls collected in the Soul Sanctuary. These had been gathered as much as possible by eliminating the fully corrupted Werewolves before coming to the Moon God Altar.

It was all for the purpose of using them right now.

"Greenland!"

Blaze shouted to Greenland. She nodded and ordered the zombie giant bear to charge at Werewolf Romeo.

Blaze forcefully threw the seed in his hand into the zombie giant bear’s body, while Greenland simultaneously used a Prayer of ripening.

Werewolf Romeo reared his massive body, dropped to all fours, and let out a ferocious roar. The sound waves Twisted the air, and the flesh and blood of the zombie giant bear were stripped away in the Impact.

A massive cluster of Soul Flame floated out from the skeleton and fell into Werewolf Romeo’s mouth.

CRACK.

The pale Flame shattered into fragments and disappeared inside Werewolf Romeo’s mouth. His Level subsequently rose to Level 20.

Greenland felt a pang of heartache. A Death Druid’s Summoning was not unconditional; she had to personally capture those summons. With her level being so low, catching a giant bear was no easy feat.

Fortunately, their goal had been achieved.

A Werewolf no smaller than Werewolf Romeo shattered the giant bear’s white bones, wrapped its arms around Werewolf Romeo, and bit fiercely into his neck.

The pale teeth Pierced the artery. Large bursts of red mosaics spewed out, and the dark Silver fur became even more defiled.

Werewolf Romeo let out a low growl of pain and his body went limp, blood seeping from his Silver beastly pupils.

The Werewolf, resurrected by the Aconite Grass absorbing the zombie giant bear’s rotting flesh, was Highly Poisonous. It poured all its Toxin into him through the wound.

The moonlight enveloped them once again. Werewolf Romeo’s body expanded anew. The Aconite Grass Werewolf convulsed and was torn in half by Werewolf Romeo.

An incredibly massive dark Silver Soul Flame fell into Werewolf Romeo’s mouth, raising Werewolf Romeo’s Level once more.

[Werewolf Level 25]

[Dual Personality F / Poison Resistance F / Power Enhancement F]

"Nineteen seeds left," Blaze said, gripping the next seed in his palm. Meanwhile, Greenland had already begun Summoning her remaining zombie Followers.

"[Summon: Deer A]"

It was another massive, decaying deer. After flicking the seed into the massive deer’s body, Blaze charged forward alongside the Ripper and the Cannibal.

The Ripper’s Surgical Blade danced like a Butterfly, Blaze’s fists flickered like venomous bees, and the giant club in the Cannibal’s hands stirred up a violent storm.

The Butterfly and venomous bees tumbled within the tempest. Wings sliced through moving muscles, followed by stingers that stung the severed flesh into an unregenerable pulp, while the torrential rain crashed down, hammering the bones beneath the flesh into pieces.

This combo instantly drove Werewolf Romeo into a near-death state. However, just by falling into the range of the moonlight, Werewolf Romeo’s Life Value fully recovered in an instant.

His bones were welded back together like steel, and his muscles tangled together as if possessing a consciousness of their own, forming even more powerful muscle masses.

Just as the fully recovered Werewolf Romeo prepared to counterattack, the Electric Saw Demon and the Scary Clown followed up.

The steam chainsaw churned up waves of transparent red and black blocks on Werewolf Romeo’s body. Under the Scary Clown’s control, single-use Throwing daggers danced like lethal Fairies, landing precisely into Werewolf Romeo’s joints.

Greenland and Claire followed up last. Both belonged to the Summoning Series, driving their summons to control and batter Werewolf Romeo.

When the zombie deer was bitten to pieces, the Aconite Grass Werewolf burst out of its body, wrapped its arms tightly around Werewolf Romeo, and bit viciously into his neck.

"This rhythm is pretty good," Greenland said to Blaze, adjusting her breathing.

"Are you unable to control the Werewolf souls you Summoned?"

"Why do you ask?" Blaze casually replied, his entire focus dedicated to observing Werewolf Romeo’s every move.

"Because the resurrected Werewolves always just hug Romeo directly. I was wondering if there’s some special meaning to that."

"Perhaps... after escaping their Cursed bodies, they have returned."

In Wolf Head Grass Village.

Audrey ran fiercely through the forest, wanting to shake off all the negative emotions in her heart—the Anger, suspicion, and disappointment she felt towards Herbie and Blaze.

At that moment, a Silver Werewolf entered her line of sight.

It was inevitable; that beautiful fur was simply too dazzling.

Audrey instinctively placed her hand on the Sword hilt at her Waist. The Werewolf was very small. If she launched a sneak attack...

Blaze’s words echoed in her ears once more. No matter how hard she tried, her hand couldn’t grip the weapon.

SNAP.

It was the sound of someone stepping on and breaking a branch. However, it wasn’t Audrey, but another unexpected person.

It was Juliet. The girl, as fragile as a flower, approached the Silver Werewolf.

The Silver Werewolf lowered its body, carefully leaned in to sniff Juliet’s abdomen, and then let out a little girl’s innocent laughter.

"It’s a little brother, Juliet."

Juliet didn’t speak. Instead, she reached out and patted the Silver Werewolf’s head. The Silver Werewolf crouched on the ground happily, its tail wagging incessantly like a broom.

Audrey unfastened the weapon at her Waist and slowly walked out from the bushes.

Upon seeing Audrey, the Silver Werewolf immediately hid behind Juliet. It muttered softly that it was playing hide-and-seek with Audrey, completely unaware that its body was the size of a small calf and Juliet couldn’t hide it at all.

"That voice... is it Wulan?"

"Ah, I’ve been found out!" The Silver Werewolf erupted in a puff of white smoke, turning into a six-year-old girl.

"Why were you hiding from me?" Audrey asked, taking off her outer coat and draping it over Wulan as the girl ran toward her.

"Because the Village Chief said you’re a big shot and will face sooooo many dangers in the future," Wulan said, patting her chest. A serious expression appeared on her childish face.

"Only a Chosen One like me can protect you and everyone else from the shadows!

"But I can only protect you until I’m twenty!"

"Why is that?" Audrey asked, stroking Wulan’s small head.

"Because I’m going to die after I turn twenty."

Audrey’s heart violently twitched, and her lips trembled uncontrollably. Wulan, however, didn’t notice.

"I’ve decided to fall in love with a boy at my prettiest age, and then have his baby," Wulan said, awkwardly scratching the back of her head. She lowered her voice. "So, you’d better wait until you’re over forty to find a boyfriend. That way, before I die, I can—mmph—"

Before Wulan could finish her sentence, Audrey pulled her into a hug. The little girl felt Audrey trembling and the searing heat of scalding tears.

"Why are you crying? Even if you’re forty, there will still be lots of people who like you."

"Why... do you have to die?"

Trembling, Audrey hugged Wulan tightly, terrified that the moment she let go, the fragile young Life in her arms would vanish.

Wulan was momentarily stunned. Despite being only six years old, she revealed a sense of helplessness and anticipation that even adults wouldn’t fully understand.

"I will definitely fall in love with someone in the future, because that is our fate. Besides, it’s not a bad thing at all.

"It’s okay. I’ll Pray at the altar, Praying for God’s forgiveness. That way, someday in the future, everyone won’t have to play hide-and-seek with people from other places anymore. We’ll be able to live with our loved ones... forever and eeever."

Was that so? Was that really how it was?

Every one of the Silver Believers feared that if even one of them was missing, God would not forgive the Arcadians. Therefore, from the moment they learned the truth, every single person prepared themselves to head to that cold graveyard.

"It’s alright, Wulan," Audrey said gently, stroking the back of the girl’s head. "Someone has already gone to raise objections to God on our behalf. God has already forgiven us."

"Really?! That’s great!" Wulan’s eyes lit up.

Audrey stood up, wiped away her tears, and holding Wulan’s hand, reached out to Juliet.

"Juliet, come with me.

"No matter what the ending is, we will face it together!"
