Chapter 64: Interlude 3: How to Survive

  • Next Chapter

The curse of the Silver Race originated from the first Silver King Lycan. It was a God’s curse, but also an inherent trait.

This problem couldn’t be solved immediately, so the priority fell to the next best thing: keeping Romeo alive.

"Leveling up recovers Life Value, and resurrection after death removes negative status effects. Blood conversion is a Curse..."

An unbelievable idea surfaced in Blaze’s mind. All he needed was to allow Romeo to level up and resurrect. He wasn’t a God and couldn’t bestow a Blessing upon Romeo, but...

"There is another kind of entity with the power of resurrection!"

Blaze quickened his pace, rushing toward Wolf Head Grass Village. Once he entered the range of Visual Sharing, he noticed a dispute breaking out just outside the village.

It was Audrey and Herbie. Beside them stood six Foreigners radiating an ominous aura that incited pure malice. They were Vice Aliens.

"What’s going on?!"

Blaze hastily accelerated his dash. As soon as he drew near, he heard Audrey’s low voice, heavily suppressed with anger.

"Herbie, have you... fallen into corruption?"

Audrey’s face was filled with disappointment, while Herbie lowered her head in silence.

Herbie stood in front of those Vice Aliens, using her own body to block Audrey’s weapon. This was the first time she had ever stood in opposition to her best friend.

She didn’t dare say she was doing this for Audrey’s sake, as that would only make the strictly disciplined Audrey vent her anger on her. Moreover, even the profit-driven Hermes’ Travel Hat would scoff at what she was doing right now. Siding with heretics, keeping company with evil.

The Six Vice Group exchanged awkward glances. Logging off was out of the question; this concerned their future gameplay experience. So, they simply watched the stalemate between Herbie and Audrey.

Blaze’s arrival broke the tranquility, and the Six Vice Group immediately tensed up. If this former Regional Leader with insta-kill capabilities made a move, they wouldn’t be able to hold back anymore.

Herbie’s expression sank. Audrey looked toward Blaze and was just about to speak when she noticed him walking straight toward the Six Vice Group, utterly defenseless.

"Blaze, watch out—"

Blaze raised a hand to signal that he was fine. He walked past Herbie, who kept her head down and quietly apologized, "I’m sorry."

Blaze didn’t reply. Instead, he reached out—crossing a slight boundary—and rubbed Herbie’s head. Then, he looked at the wary Six Vice Group before him.

"Foreigners, I have a question to ask you."

The Six Vice Group was stunned. They nudged each other, none daring to step forward for fear that Blaze might suddenly hack them down.

One person who didn’t join the mutual shoving walked up to Blaze.

It was a gigantic, muscular freak standing over two meters tall, forcing Blaze to look up. The bulging veins on his muscles looked like tentacles crawling beneath his skin.

"I’ll answer your question." It was the voice of a little girl—extremely tender, devoid of emotion, yet incredibly ethereal.

But Blaze almost broke character. He had encountered many dangers and fought many enemies, but this Foreigner named Claire standing before him nearly killed him with appearance and voice alone.

Facing this scarred, loli-voiced Foreigner’s face, he was afraid he would throw up the moment he opened his mouth.

Blaze had to shift his gaze downward, hoping to distract himself. However, he saw a Bikini Armor that looked like a mere leaf compared to the massive, hairy pectoral muscles. Honestly, what it covered wasn’t concealed at all.

Blaze had no choice but to look even further down, only to be greeted by a massive bulge. He almost went blind.

By comparison, the Durian-flavored High Heels that were larger than his head were somewhat acceptable...

He decided to just close his eyes. It wasn’t like anyone could see his expression anyway.

"I want to know how those Regional Leaders are born—the ones that can endlessly resurrect, just like the Blessed."

"Oh, Regional Leaders," Claire answered Blaze’s question with a cute loli voice.

"There are four key points: ’a specific location,’ ’a background story related to that location,’ ’a compelling reason to exist there,’ and most importantly, ’a high enough Level and enough Skills.’ Fulfilling these conditions grants a unique title and name.

"An example would be the Minotaur boss living in a Labyrinth, something like ’Maze Master - Minos’."

Blaze frowned. The first three conditions were easy to fulfill, but the last one... Even if Romeo transformed into a Silver Werewolf state, he didn’t have a Level.

However, a Werewolf did. He could only temporarily change Romeo’s designation to "Werewolf" to acquire a Level and Skills.

During his battles with Werewolves, he had discovered the Skill "Dual Personality." In other words, even if he turned into a Werewolf, Romeo wouldn’t disappear; his soul would merely be suppressed beneath the Werewolf’s soul.

The reason Arcadians gradually lost their minds was that all the Pure Blood in their bodies converted into Filthy Blood. The purity symbolizing the human soul was eroded and replaced by the filth symbolizing the Werewolf soul.

This problem was easy to solve. By driving a needle forged from sacred silver directly into Romeo’s body, the silver could be used for the Purification of the Filthy Blood.

But even so, Blaze still felt uneasy. He only had one chance; he had to use a reliable plan to increase the success rate.

Souls... If he used that method, the success rate would seemingly rise quite a bit. This was undoubtedly a risky move, but Blaze couldn’t think of any other way.

With the Level secured, the next issue was Skills. Fortunately, Skills only required fulfilling conditions during combat. The problem was that Romeo wouldn’t put up the slightest resistance.

Blaze’s gaze landed on the Six Vice Group before him. They were entities that would cause anyone who saw them to lose their minds and attack.

"Foreigners, I need your help."

"Did I just mishear that? He’s actually giving us a quest!"

"Damn it, before this, not even a dog would pay attention to me."

"I thought this game didn’t even have a quest-accepting feature."

"Finally, finally! I actually got a quest playing this game."

Blaze wasn’t certain he could get these six Evil People to agree, but to his surprise, they not only agreed but were incredibly enthusiastic about it.

Audrey, however, reacted intensely. She grabbed Blaze and shouted in disbelief, "Blaze, why exactly are you doing this?!"

"To save Romeo."

"Wha—" Audrey suddenly felt the world spinning around her, gripping Blaze’s Chest Armor to keep herself from collapsing. It was as if she had stepped into another world.

Her best friend was colluding with corrupted Foreigners. The friend she deemed reliable was willing to cooperate with corrupted Foreigners just to save a Werewolf. The only personal maid in the castle whom she could treat with genuine sincerity had a child with a Werewolf.

The Six Vice Group stood as motionless as statues made in poor taste, but glowing rings representing camera lenses rotated within their eyes. Enjoying the drama was a human instinct.

Shocking News: The love and hate entanglements between the Black Beast Knight Blaze and two Beautiful Girls.

Among them, Greenland was particularly excited, even panting heavily. Clearly knowing who Romeo was, she was busy fabricating unimaginable scenes in her mind.

After a long silence, Audrey finally spoke with great difficulty.

"Is it... is it because of that secret you wanted to tell me?"

Blaze raised his hands and held Audrey’s shoulders. He could feel her body trembling. This was the first time he had seen Audrey looking so fragile.

He wondered whether he should tell her, or if he should let Audrey wait in fear and anxiety until everything was over before revealing the truth. That would simply be too cruel.

Choosing to believe that Audrey could handle it, Blaze lowered his head and whispered that incredibly cruel story into her ear.

Audrey’s eyes widened in disbelief as she once again felt the Heavy burden of words known as secrets.

Her vision went black, and she nearly collapsed to the ground, her hands desperately clawing at Blaze’s Armor like a drowning person.

Standing nearby, Herbie could vaguely overhear them, but she didn’t care. She instinctively tried to support Audrey, but Audrey shoved both her and Blaze away. Staggering back a few steps, Audrey turned and ran toward Wolf Head Grass Village.

"Will... will she hate us?"

Herbie looked at Blaze, asking with timidity in her eyes. Blaze reached out and pulled Herbie’s thin shoulders into a reassuring embrace.

"I don’t know, but the result will be worth it."
