Chapter 1501 -489: Advent of the Saint_2
He wiped his hand across the Bible’s cover, and the four characters [Super Bible] shifted, turning into just two: [Truth].
“You…”
Only then did Powell realize that the priest standing in front of him was not some frail, harmless pushover.
“Go back inside.”
“Uh…”
Powell ground his teeth, then went back into his house without looking back.
The armed Cultists weren’t planning to argue theology with this priest who’d stepped over the line. One guy in the lead truck just grabbed his rifle and pulled the trigger at New Dynasty Elegance.
Bang bang!
A believer hiding at home and peeking through the window couldn’t help sighing.
“He’s done for!”
“Ah… what a pity, he’s a good man.”
People have morals. Even if they’ve joined a cult, whether actively or passively, deep down they still know what’s right and what’s wrong; they’re just trapped by the collective and don’t dare show it.
So even though they know this priest belongs to another church, they still feel sorry when a good man dies.
But—clang—
It was the sound of a bullet hitting something hard and being deflected.
Under everyone’s astonished gaze, New Dynasty Elegance blocked that bullet with the Bible!
Turns out the shell around that hanging Bible was some high-strength super-alloy that even bullets couldn’t penetrate!
Under the Cultists’ dumbfounded stares, New Dynasty Elegance raised the Bible high and shouted,
“God’s got me!”
The Bible actually projected a voice of its own.
“Bro’s got you!”
Then he let go, and clatter—
The Bible slid down the chain and dropped, punching a crater into the ground; in New Dynasty Elegance’s hands, the Bible had turned into a Bible-version meteor hammer!
Next second the priest kicked Sianweistan into high gear, and in a blur of motion he was swinging the meteor hammer as he charged into the cluster of armed Cultists.
With New Dynasty Elegance’s swing, the Bible’s metal striking corner made intimate contact with the forehead of the Cultist who’d just fired.
“That’s what you get for not learning to be a decent human being!”
The Bible, on impact, immediately yelled,
“Amen! I absolve you of all sin.”
Human skull collided with Truth, and a spark called ‘wisdom’ burst forth—only this spark was blood-red.
Crack!
New Dynasty Elegance gave a hard yank, then smashed it into another guy’s forehead.
“That’s what you get for spraying bullets everywhere!”
“Hallelujah—”
“I’ll educate you heretics on God’s behalf!”
“Told you he’d die a worthy death!”
With New Dynasty Elegance swinging it, the Bible spun like a raging storm; as it whirled faster and faster, the golden striking corner traced a golden ring in the air, glowing like an Angel’s halo—only this halo had blood all over it, which was a bit unlucky.
The true God descends!
The Cultists were instantly thrown into chaos by the priest’s charge; one by one they “witnessed Truth,” massive amounts of knowledge flooding uncontrollably into their brains, and the overload shattered their skulls and killed them.
Definitely not because of any physical blunt-force trauma.
Come on, this bunch of Cultists—whether they could even beat a Cleaner was questionable. All they were good for was strutting in front of civilians; if they ran into anyone who could really fight, they’d have packed up and fled long ago.
New Dynasty Elegance, for all his flaws, had done real knife-and-gun work in Night City and Cuba. His cyberware level wasn’t exactly top shelf, but the fact that Lin Miao picked him for the Atlanta mission was proof enough of his strength.
Seven or eight Cultists, that’s all—under his hands, they didn’t even last two minutes. Soon only one was still alive; the other six lay by the roadside, each missing a chunk of skull, pale pink brain matter and blood seeping out and pooling across the ground.
And that last Cultist? He couldn’t even hold his gun anymore, let alone fight back. His legs just went soft and he dropped to his knees, completely stunned.
New Dynasty Elegance walked up to him, took the Bible—already soaked in red and white—and held it in his hand, lowering his head to meet the Cultist’s eyes.
Right now, even though New Dynasty Elegance was splattered in blood, there wasn’t the slightest hint of murderous intent on him. Under the sunlight he radiated only a sacred solemnity, like a saint descending to earth to judge sinners.
“Do you acknowledge your wrongs?”
The Cultist swallowed hard and nodded so fast his head was shaking, terrified that if he slowed down the Bible would make intimate contact with his forehead.
“Good. Take me to your superiors. I shall bring them the grace of the Lord.”
He wiped the brain matter and blood off [Truth] with his hand, then slung it over his back, and had the Cultist lead him out of the neighborhood.
The residents watched the dead Cultists lying in the street, and it was like waking up from a dream; they pinched their own faces hard to make sure this wasn’t some hallucination.
Until the first person stepped out of his house and shouted loudly,
“God… God has manifested!”
Very quickly, the second and the third followed, rushing out of their homes like they’d gone crazy. They shouted things like God and Moses as they ran after New Dynasty Elegance.
Doesn’t matter how devout they’d been in their original denomination—none of that was as persuasive as this new faith right now.
And at this moment, Li De and his people still had no idea what New Dynasty Elegance had just done.
His eyelid kept twitching; he felt like something completely unexpected had happened, but Li De couldn’t put his finger on it. All he could do was keep his squad moving and be ready to improvise.
As for New Dynasty Elegance, the time to really let this religious expert loose hadn’t come yet. Li De had only told him to walk around the area, figure out the composition of the various denominations and map out their spheres of influence.
After several days’ investigation, he finally confirmed that the target location was a small island off Saint Simmons.
The biotech company shipped a fixed batch of living supplies to that island every month like clockwork—organic food, seasonings, clothes, all kinds of stuff.
The weird part was that sometimes they also delivered several tons of sulfuric acid, pigments, and other bizarre materials to the island.
