Chapter 1444: Chapter 470: Western Front Assault_2
Unless your armor thickness reaches 3000mm RHA, you’ll be blown away by a direct hit, turning into a corpse wherever you stand.
A direct collision results in the turret being blasted off as the metallic jet turns the crew inside into charred remnants.
This multi-million-dollar tank becomes a living coffin for the crew.
But Red Barrel and his group didn’t fare much better either, the intense shock from artillery fire almost scrambled the brains of the three-member crew. After regaining their senses and confirming they weren’t knocked offline, Red Barrel first cheered then noticed the repair screen’s glaring red tracks.
"The tracks are broken, damn it, hurry and replace them!"
Big Ass slapped his forehead and shouted fuzzily,
"Replace what, we’re too deep in, the engineers are way too far from us."
At 120KM per hour, even if the engineering team grew extra legs, they couldn’t catch up.
"Then we’ll replace it ourselves, I remember there’s a spare track in the rear compartment."
Red Barrel pushed open the hatch above and peeked out halfway, sneaking glances around like a gopher.
"Damn it!"
Red Barrel quickly retracted his head, and immediately the sound of bullets clinking against the tank resonated. With armor too thin, small caliber electromagnetic rifles almost pierced through.
He looked at the blurry figure of Big Ass and the mechanic player who had just been woken up, this unfortunate guy was shaken so hard by the last round that he lost a leg.
"We’re surrounded, there’s people everywhere outside, how far is our nearest ally?"
The mechanic player responded,
"This is a combat zone, they’re right behind us."
A force of more than forty tanks advancing closely wouldn’t be too far apart.
Soon the sound of artillery fire came from behind, clearly they also engaged the enemy’s tank unit.
But all this had nothing to do with Red Barrel, his tank was already paralyzed, and the engineering team couldn’t get here anytime soon.
The enemies outside wouldn’t give him time to dismount and replace the tracks; he didn’t want to delay his whole unit’s offensive plan because of himself.
Simply gritting his teeth, Red Barrel shouted in the channel,
"Brothers, don’t worry about us, you continue ahead, we’ll stay here as a fixed gun emplacement, see you at the finals."
"Haha, Red Barrel, we’ll see you offline, you probably won’t last long."
"Screw you, I’m as tough as nails."
"Salute to the engineers!"
"I damn your mother’s leg!"
"Wild dogs need no tombstone, just run till they rot on the road, hahaha."
After speaking with his comrades, Red Barrel turned to the mechanic,
"Big Ass and I will go out to intercept, you handle the artillery and cover us with the automatic machine gun."
The mechanic made a PK gesture,
"Got it."
A few more allied tanks sped past Red Barrel’s vehicle, suppressing dispersed enemy lines with machine gun fire, relieving much of their defensive pressure.
But after all, it was still enemy territory, surrounded by European squad soldiers from all sides. A stationary tank, thin-skinned and richly filled, was easy prey for them.
Soon after, Red Barrel, along with his beloved vehicle, was blasted apart by encircling enemy forces.
And not just Red Barrel, as tanks destroyed enemy vehicles, they were also destroyed by the enemy.
The armor corps and vanguard reconnaissance regiment pierced through the Europeans’ defenses like a dagger, tearing a hole in the iron fortifications they built relying on Havana.
And the price was leaving innumerable corpses and tank remains along the way.
Both sides endured massive casualties.
But the rewards were evident, as the relentless group assault tore the Europeans’ line in half, with one part besieged by the Wheelchair Sprint-led Cuban troops and players, and the other half pinned down in skirmishes by following players, unable to effectively reinforce.
The players’ spearheads aimed straight at Havana.
Capturing the Cuban capital would mean reclaiming half of Cuba.
But this war certainly wouldn’t be smooth sailing, Europe posed two major threats still to the players: space-based weapons and airborne ships.
Boom!
The sound like thunder, the color like rainbow light.
A brilliant stream of light tore through the air across the sky, traversing the entire city from Havana’s port in an instant, its heat wave even stirring changes in atmospheric phenomena.
Its impact point was the player armor cluster’s tip, where the first three tanks charged ahead.
When players saw the light, it was too late to flee; 120 KPH was but a crawl compared to the battleship electromagnetic main gun’s projectile speed.
As the nearly-half-meter diameter metal projectile landed, the intense white light swallowed everything, and those three tanks were engulfed in the vast radiance without a sound.
The expanding shockwave spread like a tornado, churning the earth to shreds, countless tons of soil swept skyward, appearing like a dust storm, even two tanks nearly a kilometer away were almost upended.
Despite this, they weren’t unharmed, as masses of dust fragments filled the air and almost buried the tanks.
The buildings on Havana’s side near the impact were affected by the aftermath, glass shattered with a crash, leaving glass shards scattered everywhere.
"Damn his father."
Even kilometers away, Sword Saint engaged with the enemy saw the distinct shockwave, staring in disbelief.
