Chapter 404: Chapter 385: The Entire City Erupts! Praise Miss Su!!
Lin Qingfeng looked at the "peerless secret manuals" they had "gifted" him, along with the one he had won himself, and the corner of his eye couldn’t help but twitch.
One was the [1st Place Reward: *Supreme Sensing Chapter (Introductory Fragment)*], and the other four were the [Top 5 Rewards: *Dragon Elephant Prison-Suppression Skill*, *Abi Dao Three Blades*, *Floating Light and Shadow Body Skill*, and *Vajra Unbreakable Glaze Body*].
’An introductory fragment? Martial Arts Ultimate Skills?’ Lin Qingfeng almost laughed out loud. Aside from the fragment, which he could sell for a few Spirit Stones, he had no idea what to do with the rest.
Then, out of the corner of his eye, he spotted a small figure below looking up at him with pure adoration—Su Wenxuan.
’An idea.’
An idea struck Lin Qingfeng, and that profound, enigmatic smile reappeared on his face. With a flash, he drifted down to land before Su Wenxuan.
"Boss!" Su Wenxuan was so excited he almost fell to his knees.
Lin Qingfeng waved his hand, gesturing for him to calm down. He then pulled out the four martial arts manuals that ordinary players could only dream of, along with the cultivation fragment, and casually stuffed them into Su Wenxuan’s arms.
"Wenxuan, you performed quite well just now. Consider these books a little greeting gift from your boss. Take them, study them well, and be sure to spread the fame of my ’Nine Streams Sect’ throughout the martial world!"
Su Wenxuan clutched the manuals, which still glowed with a system-generated aura. His hands trembled, and he was so overcome with emotion that he stammered, "Boss! This... this is too precious! I... I..."
He suddenly remembered something, and his face fell. He dejectedly patted the side of his head where his mask used to be. "But Boss... my... my rat-head mask... it... it’s... it’s broken..."
’That was the token of a Nine Streams Sect heir!’
Hearing this, Lin Qingfeng thought, ’It was just a mass-produced Magical Artifact I casually made. Look how broken up he is about it.’
’However, as the boss, I have to maintain my image.’
He reached into his robes again, rummaged around for a moment, and then pulled out... an identical rat-head mask.
"It’s nothing," Lin Qingfeng said, tossing the mask to him. "A mere mask. If it breaks, it breaks. As long as the will of the Nine Streams Sect endures, we can forge a million more like it, even without this specific token."
Su Wenxuan caught the mask as if it were a priceless treasure, once again completely won over by his boss’s grand style.
"Thank you, Boss! I’ll never let the Nine Streams Sect down!"
After dismissing his new underling, Lin Qingfeng surveyed his surroundings. He stared blankly at the ruins, which had been blasted into a wasteland, and seemed lost in thought.
However, the sight of him staring at the ruins immediately sent a jolt of fear through the players.
[Regional Channel]
[Biqu Country Go 4]: @Lin Qingfeng, great one! Have mercy, great one! Please!
[OneSwordToSettleAll]: Great One! Please don’t use a one-click repair! We can farm tons of contribution points from this! Leave a little soup on the table for us, we can handle it from here!
Lin Qingfeng stared at the messages flooding the chat, momentarily stunned, before breaking into a wry smile.
He had thought it would be a hassle, so if someone was willing to take on the job, all the better.
Lin Qingfeng didn’t mind either way. He found it troublesome, and as long as his Junior Sister and this mob of players didn’t completely wreck the city, he was fine with it. So, he nodded in agreement.
He turned to Su Ling’er and instructed, "Junior Sister, our work here is done. You should also pack up and return to the sect soon. There’s a whole batch of ’newcomers’ back at the sect waiting for you to ’welcome’ them."
Upon hearing this, Su Ling’er flinched, and a fierce, competitive fire once again blazed in her eyes.
She knew that while the battle for Anhe City was over, her "battle" within the sect was just beginning.
"Yes, Senior Brother! Your Junior Sister will be sure to complete the important task of ’pathfinding’!"
Lin Qingfeng patted her shoulder, pleased. He then transformed into a streak of light and vanished over the horizon.
’I should get back to the sect first and see what caliber this new batch of disciples is,’ he thought.
With her Senior Brother’s departure, the formless pressure that hung in the air vanished.
Su Ling’er let out a long sigh of relief, but it was quickly replaced by the weight of responsibility.
Her heart ached as she looked upon her devastated home and the survivors, their eyes still filled with confusion and fear.
Just then, Su Wenxuan ran to her side, clutching the four manuals.
"Sis," he said, tilting his small face up to look at the players who were silently searching the ruins for survivors or just sitting dazedly on the ground. "Shouldn’t... shouldn’t we do something?"
He held up the manuals and said in a mature tone that belied his age, "The Boss gave these to me to bring glory to the Nine Streams Sect. But I think the true purpose of the Nine Streams Sect shouldn’t be to just fend for ourselves. If everyone could have been a little stronger, maybe... maybe so many people wouldn’t have died today."
Su Ling’er’s heart stirred at his words.
She looked at her brother’s dirt-streaked but incredibly earnest face, then glanced at the distant heroes, City Guards, and council members who, despite their complaints, had not abandoned their home. An idea began to form in her mind.
She took a deep breath, channeled her Spiritual Power, and her voice rang out clearly across the ruins:
"To all the heroes of Anhe City!"
All the players and surviving citizens turned to look.
There stood Su Ling’er, the new City Lord, atop a high pile of rubble. Her robes fluttered in the wind, and her expression was solemn.
"Though we were victorious in this battle, it was a bitter and brutal victory. You all risked life and limb to protect our home. I, Ling’er, will forever remember your contributions."
She paused, her gaze sweeping over every person, before raising the four manuals high.
"These are profound cultivation manuals gifted to me by my Senior Brother after the battle. But the survival of Anhe City was not the achievement of a single person, but the fruit of ten thousand hearts beating as one!"
"Therefore, I intend to place all four of these Ultimate Skills into the public treasury of Anhe City!"
The moment she spoke, a dead silence fell over the entire area.
