Chapter 856 - 726: Poison Heart
The leachate from the trash mountain, toxic gas, and insects couldn’t penetrate the thick skin of the players. Midnight Dad was obviously trapped by something else.
No time to think further, White Horse Tombstone bent down, reaching out to grasp Midnight Dad’s hand.
However, the fingertips barely touched each other before they were separated—the surrounding broken metal and plastic fragments, like a bloody mouth, fiercely bit into Midnight Dad’s abdomen and hands, dragging him back into the depths of the trash.
Rage surged in the heart, and evil dared to the gall. In the blink of an eye, White Horse Tombstone punched out more than a dozen times, the Gang Qi contained within the punches permeated deep into the trash pile.
This move is called [Bruegel Peak], similar in effect to [Condensed Qi Explosion], but the difference lies in the Gang Qi not imploding inward but venting outward.
Bang bang bang!
The trash with remnants of green slime scattered flying, and Midnight, who had been dragged deep, was forcibly dug out.
White Horse Tombstone summoned a stone coffin with one hand, pulled off the chains wrapped around its surface, and swung them forcefully.
The chains broke through the obstructing trash, hooked around Midnight Dad’s waist, pulling him into the air.
Midnight Dad’s lower body was soaked in leachate, leaving his pants corroded and tattered, exposing white Gucci-brand underwear. The only remaining left leg was also covered in a layer of green substance.
"Ooh—"
A low-frequency roar shook the eardrums, countless pieces of trash shook and fell, and only then did the crowd see the true form of the trash mountain.
"Sli, Slime?"
Hansel’s pupils dilated in shock; this undulating trash mountain was actually harboring an ultra-giant Slime. With just a slight movement of its body, the ground beneath them trembled.
The Slime’s image originated from the Cthulhu mythos, first appearing in Lovecraft’s 1931 novel "At the Mountains of Madness," and later solidified as the image of an amorphous protozoa in Brennan’s short story "Slime."
In later works of art, it was also given the ability to "absorb and dissolve external substances," becoming more and more Q-shaped and cute.
Theoretically, a healthy Slime should be transparent and pure, but when buried by astronomical amounts of trash, its ability to absorb and digest simply could not keep up with the rate of trash accumulation,
day after day, year after year, the accumulating anger and despair can be imagined.
Just like at this moment, a trench split open in the trash mountain, and the Slime let out a deafening wail toward the players.
The foul-smelling gale blew violently, nearly blowing Hansel and Li Cheng away.
Li Cheng grabbed Hansel with one hand and held on to the heavy Gray Rain with the other to steady himself.
And in the air, facing the foul wind directly, White Horse Tombstone’s face turned green, promptly pulling the stone coffin in front as a shield, being easily blown away along with Midnight Dad by the fierce wind.
’Are you kidding, I’m going to throw up.’
Hansel’s scalp tingled, and the filter fan of the power exoskeleton she wore was at maximum power, but despite that, the faint stench still pressed in like invisible hands, constantly trying to invade her nostrils.
She had to hold her breath, shouting in the communication channel: "The Slime doesn’t have long-range attack abilities, let’s keep our distance and kite it slowly..."
Before she finished speaking, a section of the trash mountain suddenly collapsed, and green slime mixed with metal trash sprayed out in a straight line like a high-pressure water gun.
Gray Rain didn’t dare to block it directly and immediately activated [Subtle Spirit Raid], disappearing into thin air.
Li Cheng then activated the floating engine, floating up with Hansel to evade the high-pressure jet, saying with lingering fear: "The garbage weighing thousands of tons, by its sheer weight alone, can apply tremendous pressure, creating a torrent."
"I have no moves left."
The archway the group had just passed through was completely demolished, and White Horse Tombstone landed back on the ground, saying in a muffled voice: "I really can’t handle enemies of this size."
She could punch a blue whale to death, and given enough time, she could dismantle even a hundred-thousand-ton-class aircraft carrier with her bare hands.
But this Slime, towering over sixty meters high and spanning several kilometers wide, was like a moving island. It was not something human force could defeat.
Hansel held her breath, rasping: "I’ll summon the Late Bell Mecha..."
"Forget it."
Li Cheng waved his hand to veto. The Late Bell Mecha comes from the "Armored Core" series, with its exceptional compatibility, allowing for the replacement of the head, hands, feet, core, fire control system, engine, etc., and adapting target-specific weapons based on different enemy types.
However, the weapons carried this time were intended for one-on-one elimination, and similarly insufficient for large targets.
Hiss—
During the conversation, the Slime continuously launched jets, the metal trash mixed within comparable to a cutting water jet, wherever it passed, the walls and buildings of Demon City flaked off one by one.
The four players continuously dodged, the green slime’s strong adhesive nature rapidly reduced the amount of places to land, while the mountain-like Slime did not decrease at all, still letting out roars, "Awoo! Woo!"
"What’s it saying?" White Horse Tombstone shouted: "Someone translate."
Li Cheng listened intently and said deeply: "It’s saying, ’Protect the environment, everyone’s responsibility. Resist illegal dumping of trash, Slime’s life matters too, SLM!’
If not for the final SLM, I almost believed it.
White Horse Tombstone rolled her eyes, as a torrent of trash came shooting over, she was just about to block with the stone coffin, but then found it too dirty. She had to painfully tear open a Skill Scroll, forcefully deflecting the trash stream.
"Does anyone have a way to make a hole in the Slime,"
With a swirl of wind from her palm, Li Cheng quickly asked: "The bigger the better, the deeper the better."
"I’ll do it."
Still with chains around his waist, Midnight Dad, eager to prove his value, quickly rummaged through his Backpack to find black rope, cloth, and straw contaminated with green slime.
Binding the straw, tying on the cloth. With a few quick moves, he handcrafted an irregularly shaped Slime doll.
The Voodooism, also known as Voodoo, originated from West Africa, a primitive religion that integrated ancestor and spirit worship.
In addition to being adept at making resurrected corpses, it also excelled at creating "voodoo spellcasting mediums," or voodoo dolls. Red ones are used for success and beauty, white ones for health and healing, while black ropes signify curses and harm.
Midnight Dad swiftly stabbed a rusty iron nail, deeply into the top of the Slime doll’s head, stirring it quickly.
After a brief delay, the giant Slime let out a sharp wail, a large portion of its head inexplicably caving in, with trash crumbling and falling.
The Slime has a self-healing ability, the opportunity fleeting, and with just a look, Gray Rain hoisted Li Cheng, tossing him outward.
Whoosh—
Li Cheng soared over heaps of trash, crossing above the Slime’s head, firing the Ape-man Degeneration Gun, decisively shooting several bullets into the gap, touching the green body of the Slime.
Slime King, or rather Slime Ancestor’s Life Essence, is not lesser than Solomon’s 72 Pillar Demon Gods. The Degrading Gun couldn’t possibly revert it to a level where a hero could kick it to death.
But, even just a 5% or 10% reduction, related to the terrifying tonnage of trash, could lead to devastating chain reactions.
The Slime King’s size slightly reduced, the fragile balance with the heavy trash mountain was instantly broken, and the vast amount of trash rolled down, squeezing the green slime through numerous crevices, spraying it out.
The green slime itself provided support, and now being squeezed out further accelerated the disintegration of the trash heap.
Five whole minutes passed, the degenerate gun’s effect long since expired, and as for the Slime King, it disintegrated into clusters of relatively clean, half-meter tall Slimes, screaming, rolling, and fleeing in all directions.
Left there was a single black-green stone with a system note hovering over it.
