Chapter 844 - 714: Mecha Warfare
"Mechas descend!"
After a crisp and synchronized shout, the air rippled, and variously shaped mechas dropped from the void, crashing down heavily and stirring up dust.
The battlefield remained covered with mechanical beast corpses from the previous battle, as if being erased by an eraser, disappearing in place.
Next, several players from [Mechanical War Thunder], including Blood Lion Roar, had black clouds spontaneously generated above their heads, especially Blood Lion Roar, whose head was shrouded in dark clouds covering half of the Beast Fighting Arena.
"The more sin committed, the stronger the summoned creatures, huh."
Blood Lion Roar spat on the ground disdainfully, grabbed the metal handrail, and jumped into the cockpit of the Infinite Justice Mecha, modified from the Gundam series ZGMF-X19A.
Buzz!
The Infinite Justice and several other mechas simultaneously lit up their lights. The Mobile Police Ingram Mecha, standing 8.02 meters tall with white paint, held an explosion-proof shield in its left hand, an electromagnetic police baton in its right, with red police lights on both shoulders rotated and flashed;
Standing 19 meters tall, the F-35 Lightning II Mecha from the Muv-Luv series, in gray-green camouflage, with an especially slim waist, held a super carbon blade slash blade, clearly designed for close combat.
Next to it, the pineapple-painted Fruit Baby Mecha was the smallest, only 7.3 meters tall, in the shape of a big iron ball with short limbs, holding a great sword, its center of gravity lower and more stable.
Lastly, the Armored Core Late Bell Mecha, standing 10 meters tall, fully equipped with weapons all over, with rocket nests installed on its shoulders, dual-wielding machine guns, with slightly inward-standing legs equipped with wheels, stood firmly on the brick stone ground of the Beast Fighting Arena.
"[Mechanical War Thunder] really has money."
"Indeed, I smell the scent of money."
The audience discussed, noting the global price of $150 million for the F-22 Raptor fighter jet, while the various models of mechas in Mechanical War Thunder only go higher.
"Wow."
As a noble Nanomachine, Gray Rain naturally enjoyed watching big robots fight, couldn’t help but elbow Li Cheng, whispering, "You have a good relationship with Blood Lion Roar, why not let their guild give us one."
"Do you think this is a thrift store? I’m a student, they don’t give me one for free."
Li Cheng rolled his eyes, "At the same level, the ’cost’ of Casting System Players is 1.5 times that of Close Combat Players, Summoning Players’ cost is 1.5 times that of Casting System, and Mecha System is at the base 1.5 times of Summoning System."
"Huh? How do you know?"
"Their guild is open for acquiring all mechas. If available in the Script World, they’ll buy, steal, or cheat, and if there is no physical item in the Script World, they attempt to manufacture using blueprints."
Li Cheng casually explained: "Large capacity batteries, ultra-heat resistant motors, electric muscle fiber imitation, associations such as Prometheus, European Heavy Industry all have related products as substitutes.
What truly can’t be replaced are the completely unscientific black technologies, like armor material stronger yet lighter than aluminum alloy, beam weapons based on Minovsky particles, or an operating system that commands with just a joystick and a few keys.
These components are actually substituted by the [Mechanical War Thunder] guild with various killing field props, extraordinary materials."
The Star-casting Anvil is also somewhat famous in the slum as a universal supplier, often receiving orders to assist in manufacturing high-performance robot parts—
For sovereign nations, painstakingly training a high-level player, if they die in the Script World leaving no bones, all upfront investment is wasted,
far better to spend money building a mecha army, where ordinary people with slight biochemical modification can drive it.
Referencing the B-52 long-range strategic bomber of the United States, in service since 1955, continuously used to date, even planned to serve until 2050, truly a century-old machine.
Though mechas are expensive, dividing the cost over decades of service life is quite acceptable.
While chatting, a sudden change occurred in the Beast Fighting Arena.
The dense black clouds descended rapidly, condensing into bizarre creatures as if drawn by a high artist in a daze.
Including tank-sized, having a bloodthirsty maw on the chest, resembling a skinned six-legged two-handed centaur;
Standing 16 meters tall, with fore and aft covered in thick spiked armor, six-legged creatures;
Slightly taller than humans, two-legged, pale trunked creatures;
"What the heck is this."
Gray Rain was shocked, "How come there’s one dragging its... on the ground?"
"Ancient game Muv-Luv’s alien monsters, BETA perhaps."
Li Cheng rubbed his chin, "In the game’s setting, they’re mining machines with flesh and blood unintentionally deployed on Earth by some alien silicon-based civilization.
Without self-awareness, they automatically execute mining tasks, inevitably coming into conflict with mid-20th-century human civilization, seizing most of Earth’s land in a prolonged war of attrition, almost leading to human extinction.
In the game world perspective, they’re overwhelmingly powerful and innumerable, utterly fearless,
but in the killing field... they’re only somewhat threatening."
The grotesque and terrifying alien monster legion began their charge, with the wind sweeping sand and dust into the sky. The seemingly cumbersome tank-level BETA, with six legs, raced madly at a speed of 80 kilometers per hour.
This wasn’t even the fastest. The assault-level, standing 16 meters tall like a five-story building, lowered its shield-builder-like head, sprinting headlong at 170 kilometers per hour.
"Heh. Is this the opponent created according to our sins?"
The loudspeaker of the Infinite Justice Mecha resonated with Blood Lion Roar’s sneer, "Just a group of miners. Form up!"
Five mechas immediately backed each other up, with the Ingram and Fruit Baby Mecha holding explosion-proof shields at the forefront, protecting the turret-like Late Bell Body.
Thud!
The Late Bell Body’s feet placed support plates similar to artillery stabilizers, fixing its legs. Inside the cockpit, Hansel took a deep breath, maneuvering the mecha to raise its arms, aiming two Gauss Machine Guns with semicircular magazines forward and backward.
With the trigger pulled, needlelike metal projectiles based on the Gauss electromagnetic rail principle bombarded the besieging bizarre creatures like a torrential downpour.
In a flash, internals splattered, and foul blood flowed. The supersonic metal needles effortlessly tore through the monsters’ bodies, and with the needle’s thin diameter, the semicircular magazine held more than eight thousand rounds.
Coupled with the fire control system independently developed by the [Mechanical War Thunder] guild, after each target is killed, the gun muzzle automatically micro-adjusts direction, significantly reducing ammo waste.
The bizarre alien creatures opposite realized they couldn’t just charge forth,
the assault-level BETA actively adjusted their steps, forming into a piece like a living wall, their heads’ solid spiked armor harder than diamond, withstanding the metal storm, shielding the units behind.
Hansel remained calm, the rocket pods on both shoulders flipped open, unleashing rockets skyward.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
The rockets spewed flames from their bases, followed an arc, bypassing the frontal armor of the assault-level, and bombarded their relatively vulnerable rear, blowing them apart and paralyzing them.
However, being automated miners, BETA showed no fear, as they surged like waves avoiding reefs, bypassing the crippled assault-level, accelerating their charge,
and the distance between the two sides instantly closed to a kilometer.
Facing humanoid enemies is just not the same as facing the charge of numerous bizarre alien creatures.
Even knowing these were illusions crafted by the [Killing Sin Hell] Beast Fighting Arena, the audience still gasped and sweated.
During the tense moment, the Infinite Justice Mecha raised its hand to its mouth, mimicking a drinking gesture.
"Gulp, gulp."
Inside the cockpit, Blood Lion Roar drank an unbranded energy drink, feeling more adrenaline from this custom-blended beverage than these mere BETAs could provide—
which contained the Red Bull, Eastroc Super Drink, Battle Horse, Monster, and Nestle Bullfighter he used to drink as a long-haul truck driver...
Snap.
The mecha mimicked tossing the drink bottle aside, Blood Lion Roar’s eyes shining, hands gripping the controls, laughing wildly as he pushed them forward, leg thrusters erupting with intense flames, propelling him into a wild charge, storming into the array.
The double-headed giant sword swung upwards at an angle, slicing through the arena’s ground bricks, and without losing momentum, split an assault-level head in two,
then kicked off with the right leg, using leg thrusters to leap with elegant grace, twisting in mid-air to spin along the spine of the assault-level’s corpse,
landing with a forward sweep of the double-headed sword, slashing horizontally to kill a group of encroaching tank-level BETA.
"Watch out!"
Came cries of alarm from the audience stands, as a 12-meter-long scorpion-like interception-level BETA leapt with agility incongruent to its massive size, its pairs of huge pincers clamping forcefully at the mecha cockpit.
No reminder was needed, for Blood Lion Roar already knew of the ambush from behind by the change in the shadows underfoot.
He stood his ground as his double-headed giant sword split abruptly in the middle, extending to sever the ambushing interception-level in half, letting its foul blood splash upon the mecha’s back.
