Chapter 1090: Chapter 164: Powerful Saints and the Boom in Population
Where else could the reinforcements for Hesse Territory come from?
Su Li and Hilude couldn’t think of any. The family had just arrived, and the reinforcements from Aeliria were out of the question.
In fact, since Aeliria had been staying in Su Li’s treehouse for so long, her subordinate legion had almost dispersed. Those Kobolds, Gnolls, Tree Demons, Horned Horse Beasts, and others couldn’t feel the glory of their master and couldn’t be transformed into dragons, so they could only live and mine in the mining area every day. Except for the Kobolds, who were enjoying themselves, many others had begun to flee.
This is how the power of the forest works: once authority cannot be maintained, control will collapse and disintegrate.
Aeliria’s subordinate legion still had thousands of members, but their quality had declined to a deplorable level.
Su Li felt anxious for Aeliria, but this Giant Dragon was enjoying herself. She stayed in the wind eye of the Wind of Jilun every day, feeling extremely comfortable. Moreover, whenever Su Li wasn’t looking, she would secretly open her giant mouth and, like a long-necked deer, stretch her neck to pull down clusters of Holy Purple Vine pods from the trees.
In the cycle before the Holy Purple Vine pods were fully mature, the days leading to full maturity, she had probably consumed over ten clusters of pods.
It was only because Su Li was quite wealthy that he didn’t mind her indulgence. After all, because of her excellent contribution in the battle against the Vampire Sea Dragon, Su Li considered this as her reward.
However, this made Aeliria entirely unwilling to return from her pleasures. The comfort of the Wind of Jilun allowed her to slowly improve her strength just by laying there, and the Holy Purple Vine pods extended her life. She had no fear of wasting time, as she had plenty of life to help her slowly enhance her power.
This made her even less attentive to her subordinate legion. Even her wealth was steadily increasing daily. Apart from the agreement she reached with the Hesse Territory, using her subordinates to mine in exchange for Gold Coins from Hesse Territory.
All she needed was to act coquettishly and seductively, and Su Li’s pocket money was a substantial income. For a Giant Dragon, this was not a difficult task. Aeliria herself quite enjoyed this process.
Being able to play the game of feigned resistance while yielding was something she was already adept at.
So, she had no intention of managing her subordinate legion now.
Then if it wasn’t her reinforcements, nor the family’s reinforcements, where could they be from?
But Dante offered no explanation to Su Li’s question, directly asking, "May I take a look at the Maiden’s Ring?"
"Of course," Su Li agreed happily, showing utmost respect to this newly-joined Saint, "Please follow me, Lord Dante. The Maiden’s Ring is an important Holy Land in our Territory and also the most important Spirit Tree plantation area of the Dawn Church."
He led the way up the spiral path to the mountaintop platform, with Dante following closely behind barefoot, walking steadily and quietly. In terms of scenery, the Empire was indeed a place of clear winds and scenic waters, pastoral and idyllic, with a serene and harmonious feeling of a feudal Territory. Knights, Priests, Nuns, Cultivators, and Druids together created this classic fantasy atmosphere.
The closer they got to the mountaintop platform, the more pronounced the serene, clear air became, like a tangible mountain spring flowing through the air, cleansing the dust of souls.
Upon reaching the mountaintop, everyone finally saw the magnificent Moon God Moon Mulberry Tree and the flourishing Star Dew Sweet Orange below. Waterwheels transported water from Lake Revelin here, irrigating the purple Spirit Field through channels.
Beside the channels, they also planted Moonlight Heart cabbage, an essential ingredient for healing, only growing by clear streams.
Everything here showcased the powerful influence of the Dawn Church in the Hesse Territory.
Many nuns from the Dawns Church worked quietly on the Maiden’s Ring, wearing simple green-blue nun robes, moving lightly and attentively. They were either trimming the new sprouts of Moonlight Heart cabbage surrounding the platform or caring for the Moonlight Celestial Silkworms feeding on tender leaves on specially-made mulberry racks. The air was filled with the tranquil luminescence of Star Dew Sweet Oranges and the fresh smell of mulberry leaves.
The only incongruity was a long-haired young man sitting on a bench by the side of the path, under the shade of a tree, with a somewhat enchanting—perhaps Su Li would say inexplicable fashion trend—air about him.
He wore his dark green hair, long to his nape, exceptionally smooth and glossy, with a few strands deliberately left hanging beside his pale, almost transparent cheeks. His posture was languid and slightly deliberately graceful, with one leg casually draped over the other, foot gently touching the ground.
His undershirt was a form-fitting silk shirt of purple hue, covered by a somewhat taut dark green velvet short coat. The collar of the coat was cut very low, revealing the purple undershirt and a small patch of his pale chest. The edges of the collar and cuffs were intricately embroidered with gold and silver threads into convoluted, entwined vine and strange floral patterns, almost eye-bewildering.
His pants were of the same dark green, made of thick corduroy material but cut exceedingly close to his legs, tucked into a pair of shiny pointed black leather boots. The rim of the boot tops was also adorned with small silver thorn patterns.
A loose silver chain necklace hung around his neck with a pendant shaped like an abstract, lazily-posed spider. His long, pale fingers bore more than one ring.
He tilted his head slightly, eyes half-lidded, a faint, ambiguous smile at the corner of his lips, studying the busy nuns on the platform and the luminous Star Dew Sweet Orange tree.
