Chapter 1086: Chapter 163: Doctrine Interrogation and the Successful Recruitment of Divine Chosen Priest
After listening to Vandar’s introduction, Su Li felt that this world was indeed quite dangerous.
The warriors who pursue power, honor, and melee combat like Knights and Berserkers, their anger, desire for battle, and extreme obsession with victory make them the easiest to become followers of Khorne, eventually degenerating into bloody Butchers who know only slaughter.
As for doctors, Pharmacists, gardeners, and farmers, who are closely related to life, disease, decay, and the cycle of regeneration, they are the most easily drawn into the embrace of Nagash. Their despair over healing, twisted longing for the continuation of life, and even pathological "appreciation" of the decay process, all become a fervor for spreading Plague and filth under the whisper of the Father. Those trapped in the despair of Plague, patients who give up resistance, and some Druids or environmentalists who pursue "natural balance" to the extreme, also often become breeding grounds for Nagash.
As for scholars, Mages, engineers, and conspirators immersed in the ocean of knowledge and pursuing infinite mysteries, their thirst for knowledge and greedy desire for power can easily lead them to the domain of Treachery. For the sake of forbidden knowledge, the ability to foresee the future, or manipulate the threads of Destiny, they will not hesitate to abandon morality, toy with hearts, and become loyal Wizards and secret agents of the Master of Deception. Anyone with an extreme obsession with "planning" and "control," such as certain politicians, spies, or strategists, could hardly escape the lure of Treachery.
Those who seek extreme sensory stimulation, artistic perfection, physical pleasure, or emotional experience, such as artists, hedonists, nobles, celebrities, and even some Warriors pursuing "pure beauty," are the sweetest prey to Slaanesh. Their desires are endless, ultimately consumed by Slaanesh’s ultimate pleasure of both soul and body in the process of seeking higher and fiercer stimulations, degenerating into pursuers of sensory frenzy or distorted "artworks." Swordsmen who pursue perfect swordsmanship to the point of paranoia may also slip into the Abyss of Slaanesh.
Su Li couldn’t help but click his tongue and asked Vandar, "Is there any way to ensure he is protected from the corruption of Chaos?"
"A firm faith in the Divine Spirit is the strongest bulwark of the human soul and the sharpest Long Lance against the whispers of Chaos." A deep, hoarse voice, carrying an Unshakable strength like a rock, came from behind Su Li. The voice was not loud, yet it clearly pierced through the tranquility brought by the Star Dew Sweet Orange field, carrying a sense of vicissitudes and pure extreme belief.
Su Li and the others turned back abruptly. They saw a Priest whose aura was like a scorching Fierce Flame, standing quietly behind them at an unknown time. He was dressed in a faded, patch-filled coarse hemp Ascetic robe, bare-footed with thick calluses and old scars, travel-worn. His face was etched with creases from the wind and frost, yet his eyes burned like two Holy Flames in the cold night, sharp and pure, as if they could penetrate all illusions and disguises.
His gaze swept over Vandar, the frightened Nuns, and finally landed on Su Li.
"Lord," his voice was steady and powerful, as if stating an eternal truth, "The power of Chaos is rooted in the emptiness of the soul and the loss of control over desire. Khorne exploits anger and thirst for conquest, Nagash exploits the surrender to despair and twisted yearning for ’eternity,’ Treachery exploits greedy pursuit of knowledge and ambition for control, while Slaanesh..." he paused, his gaze seemingly penetrating space, falling on the mountain top, "...corrodes all sensory boundaries, transforming the desire for ’extreme’ into an endless Abyss of degeneration."
He took a step forward, and the gravel under his feet seemed to grow solemn by his presence. There was no strong Magic Power fluctuation on him, yet he exudes a pure aura of peace that causes all distractions to cease, resonating with the purification field of the Star Dew Sweet Orange.
"Faith," Dante continued, each word like a Heavy Hammer striking the listener’s heart, "is not blind worship. It is the absolute identification and wholehearted devotion to a higher order, to goodness and light. It fills the emptiness with hope, restrains desire with discipline, replaces greed with dedication, and defends against sensory temptation with inner peace."
He raised his thin but extraordinarily steady hand, pointing to the Star Dew Sweet Orange tree flowing with a restrained silver glow: "The greatness of this tree lies in its ability to purify external evil and soothe the spirit. Yet the real fortress needs to be built in the depths of the soul." He then pointed to his weathered chest, "Faith is the cornerstone of that fortress. It anchors the soul to the order of light, making the whispers of Chaos as futile as waves crashing on reefs."
His gaze refocused on Su Li, carrying a hint of insight: "My Lord wants to utilize Friedrich’s talents? You can, but the premise is that he must be in an environment with faith strong enough to suppress and purify his internal corruption."
"And the faith in the Sun Goddess is this kind of intense, scorching and pure fire that purifies the bodies of believers, driving out all Chaos."
"So as long as he can have pure and unwavering faith in the Sun Goddess, he can resist Slaanesh’s corruption."
Su Li looked at the Priest standing barefoot, in ragged clothes yet seemingly glowing with brilliant light, and suddenly had a guess.
After all, he matched too well with the believers of the Sun Goddess, who always burst forth with light blinding enough to dazzle ordinary people’s eyes.
Hilude stepped out from behind him, introducing, "Lord, this is Ascetic Saint Dante. After we found him, he requested to see you immediately."
