Chapter 264: The Windsor Family
Chapter 264: The Windsor Family
“Aunt Catherine, I’ve also invited Soren to visit our family estate, to properly thank him for saving my life!” Lia said cheerfully. “Soren even one-shotted a Void Marshal!”
Catherine’s eyes narrowed slightly at that. While there were certainly strong figures in Hydra who could kill a Void Marshal, those who could do so in a single strike were exceedingly rare.
That level of power usually meant seven-star strength or above. Could it be that this young Soren had already reached such heights?
Qin Xian gave a modest smile. “It was merely the Holy Light’s power. The void is especially vulnerable to it.”
Catherine shook her head, commending him sincerely. “Even the power of the Light stems from your own will and spirit.”
“Windsor welcomes you, Sir Soren.”
As a seasoned veteran of noble politics, Catherine had immediately noticed Lia’s interest in Soren.
Logically speaking, she should’ve refused him entry—after all, Lia already had an engagement to someone from an ancient and influential family. That fiancé was handsome, supremely talented, and though a bit arrogant, was considered an ideal political match.
But Catherine adored her niece. She knew how much Lia loathed the engagement and had left home to escape it. And Soren—young, powerful, clearly noble—was undeniably impressive.
While Catherine wouldn’t openly challenge the Windsor elders for Lia’s sake, neither would she obstruct Lia’s budding feelings.
Qin Xian simply smiled. “I look forward to visiting the Windsor Family.”
The Windsor Family—Hydra’s legendary magical clan. Throughout the history of this world, nearly one-fifth of all Grand Magisters had either come from the Windsors or had some deep affiliation with them.
But during the Void’s invasion, the Windsor Family suffered severe losses. At their peak, they had four Grand Magisters and served as royal advisors to many human kingdoms. When the First Royal Court launched their attack, many blamed the Windsor’s magical experiments for attracting the void.
To clear their name, the Windsors threw themselves into the frontlines of the resistance, paying an enormous price. Of the five Grand Magisters, four perished. The last was severely wounded.
Though they had preserved their dignity and name, the family’s strength had sharply declined over the last two centuries. They barely clung to their title as a magical dynasty.
Fortunately, they had forged a friendship with Hero Rosha. One Windsor had even become his companion and, after receiving the blessing of the World Origin, became the youngest Grand Magister in Hydra’s history.
…
Hope Continent – The Windsor Domain
Nestled in the northern reaches of Hope was a serene land protected by potent magic. After the fall of the Old World, the Windsors migrated here, receiving this territory as a reward for their service.
At its heart stood a towering castle, its walls made of dark obsidian, coated in shimmering magical energy that gave the entire fortress an aura of mystery and depth. Spires soared into the clouds, their tips crowned with massive crystal orbs—magical reservoirs and surveillance nodes that watched over the domain.
Surrounding the castle were clusters of mage towers and a flourishing town. Beyond that, sprawling plains grew rare magical herbs. A gentle magical aura filled the air, calming the soul and accelerating arcane cultivation.
“This is the Windsor Domain… my home,” Lia murmured, her eyes complicated with emotion.
Though not the family’s original land, it was the place of her childhood, filled with memories.
Qin Xian stood quietly beside her, observing the domain. His eyes narrowed slightly.
With the intuition of a Void Overlord, he sensed faint traces of World Origin lingering in the magical aura that permeated the Windsor Domain.
Interesting…
Lia’s return sent a ripple through the Windsor household. As the eldest daughter and a prodigy magician, she had always been closely watched—even after her fallout with the family. Truthfully, without that hidden protection, her small mercenary band would have long been crushed by rival factions vying for resources in this dying world.
Soon, powerful auras began to emerge across the estate. The mask of secrecy began to lift from the legendary Windsor Family.
“Lia… what a surprise to see you actually come back.” A deep voice rang out—its words blunt, but unable to hide the underlying joy.
