Perfect Villain Life: Universal Job Change

Chapter 263: A Girl’s Thoughts

Chapter 263: A Girl’s Thoughts

After parting ways with the Thorn Caravan’s leader, Lia disbanded her mercenary team. As the eldest daughter of the Windsor Family, she was well aware that after what had happened, her family would never allow her to keep “fooling around” outside.

From their time traveling together, Qin Xian had also learned quite a bit about her. Lia, born with extraordinary magical talent, was seen as the future hope of the Windsor Family.

However, she had never been a typical noble lady. She longed for freedom and adventure. Worse still, her family had arranged a marriage she detested. In defiance, Lia left home and formed her own mercenary team.

The fallout with her family had been intense. She even refused the life-preserving magical items they offered, determined to prove herself on her own. In the end, her stubbornness forced the family to reluctantly allow her some freedom.

But now, with Void creatures appearing everywhere—and Lia narrowly escaping death—there was no way the Windsors would allow her to continue. In fact, they had already sent word that someone was coming to retrieve her.

So, she paid her mercenaries handsomely, giving double compensation to the families of the dead. Those who knew her background understood, and accepted it readily, parting on good terms.

“Sir Soren, would you come back to my family estate with me? I’m sure my relatives will want to thank you personally!” Lia asked with bright, hopeful eyes.

Qin Xian was about to refuse.

He had saved Lia purely to make a smooth entrance into Hydra. He had no desire to get tangled up with her, much less her family. The Windsor Family, a famed magical clan, didn’t interest him in the slightest.

His real goal was Rosha—getting close to the Hero, investigating the mystery of the World Origin, and then striking.

Once Rosha fell, Hydra would be in his grasp.

Qin Xian didn’t intend to spend much time here. Though the Void Empress had agreed to his expedition, she’d also made a deal with him—three months.

That was all the time she gave. If he hadn’t completed his task by then, she would destroy Hydra outright, abandoning its World Origin just to uphold the First Royal Court’s authority. To placate her son, she even promised to destroy another world afterward and offer its Origin as compensation—like coaxing a child with candy.

Seeing Qin Xian hesitate, Lia panicked. She genuinely liked him. To her, Soren was practically perfect—handsome, strong, a devout Holy Light knight with noble character. Compared to her disgusting fiancé, Soren was flawless.

He’s probably just unfamiliar with the Windsor name, she thought.

So she quickly added, “Sir Soren, the Windsor Family is a prestigious magical lineage. We’re one of the few who can access the Origin Grounds. Even Hero Rosha has close ties with us…”

Her face filled with pride. Despite her falling-out over the marriage, Lia still held deep affection for her family—and pride in being a Windsor.

Access to the Origin Grounds? Connected to Rosha?

Qin Xian’s interest instantly flared.

He nodded. “In that case, I’ll accept your invitation. I’d be honored.”

“Not at all! Not at all!” Lia grinned happily. “My family will be thrilled to meet you, Soren.”

She even dropped the formal “Sir,” a subtle shift to show closeness.

Just then, the sky darkened and stars shimmered overhead as a magical teleportation gate opened above Windbreeze City. Several figures emerged, wrapped in intense magical auras.

Lia’s expression turned complex. Her family had arrived.

The starry glow faded, revealing a group of mages. At the forefront stood a dignified, beautiful woman of noble bearing.

“Aunt Catherine,” Lia said with relief.

This noblewoman, Catherine, was an 8-star Starry Diviner—one of the strongest mages in the Windsor Family and also Lia’s biggest supporter. Their bond was strong. For years, Catherine had secretly provided for Lia, allowing her to travel without financial concerns.

“Lia!” Catherine rushed forward and pulled her into a tight embrace. “When I heard you almost died to a Void Marshal, I was terrified!”

“I’m fine, aren’t I?” Lia laughed cheekily.

“Oh! Right—” she turned and pulled Qin Xian forward. “This is Soren, a powerful Oracle Knight. He saved me. If not for him, I’d never have made it back.”

Just thinking about it brought a shiver down her spine.

Catherine finally turned to look at Qin Xian. Her eyes briefly assessed him, but upon hearing his class, her demeanor warmed immediately. “Thank you, handsome little knight.”

Qin Xian offered a calm smile while secretly appraising her aura.

‘Hmm… judging by her magical signature, she’s about level 70+ in human world standards. Not bad. Probably someone I could crush with a finger.’
