Chapter 362: Qingzi: How Could It Be You?

  • Next Chapter

She picked up her phone and sent a message: “OK!”

Other singers were on stage as opening acts. Although their performances were also quite moving, Yamaguchi Seiko had no interest whatsoever. She looked around anxiously for a long time but didn’t see Hundred Slashes Spring Ox appear.

So she forced herself to shift her focus and concentrate on the performance. Just then, she suddenly noticed someone had appeared in the seat next to her. She said with a playful pout, “What took you so long? Were you off doing something naughty?!”

The person didn’t answer, instead placing a hand on her shoulder.

She huffed again. “I came all this way to be with you, despite all the pressure, and you just abandon me here all alone? What’s the big idea?”

Chen Qingdi said in a low voice, “Did you message me about coming to the concert?”

The voice was clearly not the one she expected. Yamaguchi Seiko turned her head to look. “Ah, it’s you!”

Chen Qingdi’s expression was clearly displeased. He sneered, “Were you expecting someone else?”

“N-No!”

Chen Qingdi huffed. “You said you’ve been waiting for me for ages. When did you message me?”

Yamaguchi Seiko’s feelings for Chen Qingdi were composed mostly of fear, followed by shared interests, and finally, just a tiny speck of romantic affection.

“I felt that beautiful things should be shared. We should have common interests, so I came here early to wait for you.”

Just then, Chen Qingdi took out the surveillance footage Cyan Wolf had sent him. After a casual glance, much of his anger instantly dissipated. He gently pulled her in, letting her head rest on his shoulder.

“Since we’re on the same wavelength, let’s just watch the rest of the show together.”

The long-awaited Sakurai Hatsune finally appeared. Strangely, all the songs she sang this time were in the language of the Dragon Country.

Every member of the audience thought the girl was singing to them, but Chen Qingdi felt that all the tender affection from the girl on stage was focused solely on him.

Her eyes were telling a story, and they were looking at only one person.

Yamaguchi Seiko’s heart hammered in her chest. She knew that with Chen Qingdi’s resources, it wouldn’t be hard for him to investigate what was going on around her. Terrified that he would question her, she remained silent.

To her relief, Chen Qingdi didn’t ask a thing.

Just then, Yamaguchi Seiko pointed to a beautiful girl dancing backup for Hatsune on stage and said, “Master, that girl is very pretty!”

She was pointing at Gu Shuang’er, who was on stage as a decoy to confuse the enemy and provide cover for Li Shuang’Er, who was carrying out a mission below.

Chen Qingdi saw that Gu Shuang’er was also exchanging flirtatious glances with him, and he nodded.

The two performers on stage grew even more excited, unleashing their career-best skills and drawing constant cheers from the audience below.

Yamaguchi Seiko murmured, “Do you know those two girls on stage?”

“I do,”

Chen Qingdi said very casually.

“She’s the ‘Nation’s Wife,’ isn’t she? What man doesn’t know her?”

Yamaguchi Seiko realized that Hundred Slashes Spring Ox still hadn’t appeared. She was both disappointed and relieved.

Her man was right here. If that other guy showed up, there would be a “car crash.”

Chen Qingdi noticed her panicked glances and sneered inwardly, but he spoke aloud, as if it were just a casual thought.

“The death of your husband, Chairman Yamaguchi, is still a major controversy in Japan. The Ushinato Police Department has received another anonymous tip claiming you poisoned him.”

Hearing this, Yamaguchi Seiko’s body trembled violently. All her romantic notions and extravagant hopes were thrown to the wind. She squirmed coquettishly in Chen Qingdi’s arms.

“I’m your woman now. You have to solve this problem for me.”

Chen Qingdi said in a low voice, “I’m staying in the presidential suite of the largest hotel in Ushinato.”

When the concert finally ended, Chen Qingdi stood up and started to walk out.

Yamaguchi Seiko quickly hurried after him. Chen Qingdi said, seemingly offhandedly,

“Weren’t you waiting for someone? Don’t follow me.”

How could Yamaguchi Seiko dare let him leave by himself? She grabbed his arm, again acting coquettishly.

“The one I was waiting for was you, you silly.”

Just then, several people in uniform suddenly appeared, showed Chen Qingdi their identification, and said to him,

“Sir, please cooperate with our investigation.”

Chen Qingdi asked, “What is this about?”

The uniformed investigator said, “Our investigation shows that the seat next to Ms. Seiko was not yours, but belonged to a Mr. Hundred Slashes Spring Ox. When we found him, he was stuck in a toilet in the women’s restroom. He had soft tissue injuries, and if he hadn’t been discovered early, he likely would have drowned in there.”

Chen Qingdi was taken aback for a moment. “Does this have anything to do with me?”

“I suspect you hired a hitman to get that seat.”

Chen Qingdi didn’t say anything further. He made a phone call and summoned Daikubo Honesty, his legal advisor in Japan.

This man was extremely familiar with the Japanese legal system and in recent years had even earned the title of “Japan’s Number One Criminal Defense Attorney.”

He presented his lawyer’s license and glanced at his phone, where he had some evidence Chen Qingdi had sent over.

“My client is Miss Sakurai Hatsune’s boss. As the host of this concert, he is fully entitled to sit in any seat he wishes. Furthermore, he was here to discuss a business collaboration with Ms. Seiko.”

Upon hearing that this man was a well-known, successful individual with global influence, the investigator’s expression became much more amicable and his tone more polite. He then asked Chen Qingdi, his lawyer, and Seiko to accompany him to the station to cooperate with the investigation.

When they arrived, they found that Sakurai Hatsune and Gu Shuang’er were also there at the station with their lawyer.

They also saw the so-called victim, Hundred Slashes Spring Ox.

The man pointed at Gu Shuang’er, accusing her through tears, “It was this girl! She tricked me into the restroom, beat me severely, and then shoved my face into a toilet bowl!”

At that moment, a manager came over with a lawyer and provided corresponding evidence.

“Miss Gu Shuang’er has always been a backup dancer for this troupe. She arrived early before the concert began to do her makeup and change her clothes, and she never once left Miss Hatsune’s side. Everyone in the performance group can testify to this.”

Seeing the set photos showing her in makeup and costume being presented, the investigators were finally certain that the savage beating of Hundred Slashes Spring Ox had nothing to do with this girl.

The fact that Chen Qingdi was their boss was also confirmed. Left with no other choice, the investigator had no option but to apologize to Chen Qingdi and the others.

The investigator then asked Yamaguchi Seiko if the lawyer’s statement was true.

Yamaguchi Seiko answered without even looking at the investigator.

“I will testify for Mr. Chen Qingdi. The truth is, we have a business partnership. I invited him to the concert today precisely to discuss our collaboration.”
