Chapter 812:He Isn’t From This World
Chapter 812: 812:He Isn’t From This World
The Emperors had ordered them to destroy the roots altogether, but the amount of things the three families had hoarded was highly suspicious. For example, that barrier alone was enough to turn things upside down across the whole Empire, especially when combined with the Martial Soul. The families had clearly prepared for something far bigger than a simple rebellion.
But that wasn’t what Ethan was worried about. Rather, he was worried about what to do with Gu Cheng.
He couldn’t help but wonder what changes his presence would bring upon this world and if there would be more such occurrences in the future. Would more people from the world of Xinxia somehow appear here? Would there eventually be a fight between the world of Xinxia and this Fantasy world?
The thought alone made Ethan’s head ache.
This was a grave situation that was troubling Ethan deeply. He had already seen how powerful Gu Cheng was, and if there were more people like him appearing in this world, the balance that had existed for so long could easily be destroyed.
After the battle, the cleanup was quite swift. The alliance forces quickly secured the remaining areas and started dealing with the damage left behind by the three families. The surviving members of the families were also captured, and the forces under them were being taken under control.
Garron wanted Gu Cheng to accompany him so they could question him properly. However, Gu Cheng refused and insisted on going with Ethan for now.
That gave Ethan another headache.
He couldn’t exactly force Gu Cheng to leave, especially after everything that had happened to him. At the same time, bringing a cultivator from another world around was something Ethan definitely hadn’t planned for.
Still, there was nothing he could do for the moment.
Ethan eventually headed inside the Capital. As he entered the damaged streets, he could see the traces of the previous battle everywhere. Broken buildings, destroyed roads and deep marks from sword attacks covered the surroundings.
However, the Imperial Palace was still standing.
The huge golden barrier around it had also disappeared, and Ethan immediately looked toward the place where Saintess Henna was standing.
If not for her, Ethan might have been in a very ugly situation during the battle. She had protected the people inside the Palace and held the fort while he fought without having to constantly worry about the civilians.
Thankfully, she had been there to hold everything down for him.
Ethan approached her and stopped a few steps away.
"Saintess Henna."
Henna turned toward him and gave him a calm smile.
"Sir Ethan."
Ethan looked at the Palace behind her before turning his gaze back toward her.
"Thank you for the help earlier."
Henna shook her head lightly.
"There is no need to thank me. I only did what I could."
"You still saved a lot of people," Ethan said as he glanced toward the surrounding area. "If that barrier hadn’t been there, things could have become much worse."
Henna gave a small nod and looked toward the damaged Capital.
"Thankfully, the battle is over now."
Ethan also looked around before letting out a quiet sigh.
"Yeah...At least the worst part is over."
There was a brief silence between them before Henna’s expression became slightly more serious.
"Sir Ethan, actually the reason I was here wasn’t to help you. You know the Church rules. We don’t interfere with Empires’ battles."
Ethan nodded and cast a curious look at her.
"Then why were you here?"
Henna looked at him for a moment before speaking.
"The truth is, the families always been on our target radar."
Ethan’s expression changed slightly.
"Many years ago, the Ascension Realm expert of the Holy Nation had sensed a spatial turbulence across the world."
Henna paused for a moment as if recalling something from the distant past.
"When we reached there, we found a broken sky which was slowly mending. Strange energy was coming inside through that broken void, and it was destroying nature."
"Destroying nature?"
Ethan frowned when he heard this.
His mind immediately connected the strange energy with Gu Cheng and the things he had learned inside his soul.
If my guess is correct, that strange power should be the Qi of Heaven and Earth.
Then how can it have such a function?
Ethan kept those thoughts to himself and didn’t voice them. He simply looked at Henna and allowed her to continue.
"We carefully mended the broken void and trapped the energy, which is located in the Church. We have been investigating it carefully and found that the Devine and Ambrose Family did an experiment at that site, so we have been searching for clues."
Ethan’s brows furrowed.
"Our Inquisitor had found many shady things, but nothing pertaining to that. So we used this opportunity to go through the notion."
"You found many shady things yet you let them go?" Ethan asked, raising his brows with a subtle frown.
Henna sighed softly.
"We reported those things to the Empire, but you can guess his thoughts."
Ethan immediately fell silent.
"..."
He shut his lips and pondered for a moment before letting out a quiet sigh.
I don’t think I can hide Gu Cheng for long.
Also, if he wants to go back to his world, the assistance of these forces might be crucial.
Ethan glanced back at Gu Cheng, who was standing not far away and observing everything around him with curiosity.
There were too many things that needed to be understood before he could make a decision.
After a moment, Ethan looked back at Henna.
"In that case, I think you should meet someone."
Henna raised her brows slightly.
"Who?"
Ethan turned toward Gu Cheng who dispelled his technique and appeared on sight.
Henna followed his gaze and looked at the unfamiliar green-robed man.
Her expression slowly became serious.
She seemed to realize that Ethan had something far more important to tell her.
Henna slowly walked toward Gu Cheng while Ethan remained a few steps behind her. The moment she got close enough to properly see him, her eyes narrowed slightly. She carefully observed his long black hair, green robes and the strange aura surrounding his body. There was something about him that felt completely different from anyone she had met in this world.
After observing him for a few moments, Henna spoke with a calm but certain voice.
"This person isn’t from this world."
