Chapter 312:Blank’s Expansion
Chapter 312: 312:Blank’s Expansion
“Ahhh … .I didn’t sign up for this..”
“What is this?”
“A new kind of torture.. I don’t remember pissing him off.”
Ray was drowning in paperwork while crying out every single day.
He stared at the pile of papers stacked high on the table, then slowly turned his head toward the door.
Outside, he could see Miranda being taught by a music teacher. Beside her, Hera, Nerion, Leo, Sally, and Ash were training together. At the far end, Wales sat quietly, studying with a serious face.
A deep sense of remorse shook Ray’s heart.
“I want to train too…” he muttered inwardly.
Never in his life had he imagined there was something more bitter than physical training. Something more horrifying than endless drills. Something that crushed not the body, but the soul itself.
Paperwork.
This nightmare was brutal and endless.
No matter how much he worked, it never finished. The moment he cleared one stack, another stack was placed right on top of it. It was like fighting an immortal monster that kept regenerating.
Still, he was not alone.
Whenever Ray could not solve something, it was transferred to the second slave. No, the real head of the house.
And that was none other than Ethan, who already had two dark circles under his eyes.
Ray closed the file slowly and looked at his father with a bitter gaze.
“Father,” he said weakly, “when will this nightmare end?”
“Huh?” Ethan looked up and met Ray’s pitiful eyes.
“Do not worry,” Ethan said calmly. “Our time will come.”
“When?” Ray asked desperately.
“When your brothers and sisters grow up,” Ethan replied. “I refuse to believe none of my children will have administrative brilliance.”
“????”
Ray froze.
For a moment, he almost closed his eyes. In his mind, he imagined lighting incense and praying solemnly for the future souls of his unborn brothers and sisters.
“May you live in peace,” he whispered silently.
“Amen.”
……..
Months passed after the Wyvern incident.
Under Ray’s and Ethan’s diligent management, the territory stabilized and grew rapidly.
Oliver was also lumped in this but the old butler was getting old.
During this time, Julia, Claira, and Lia all became pregnant, bringing another wave of surprise and celebration.
However, someone was not happy.
It was Sophia.
For some reason, she had not become pregnant again. Although she was already the mother of five children, seeing the others expecting made her feel a quiet jealousy that she could not suppress.
It was natural.
She was nearing the age of forty.
The Intermediate Stage could keep one youthful until sixty, but it did not increase lifespan. Everyone knew that fertility declined sharply after forty unless one reached the Advanced Stage.
Sophia understood this well.
Still, understanding did not erase emotion.
Ethan could see through her worry easily.
She was afraid of being left behind.
But how could that ever happen?
She held a very special place in his heart.
His sweet, naughty, mischievous cat.
Where would he ever find another wife like her?
“It is fine, Sophia,” Ethan said gently. “Why are you competing with them?”
Sophia glared at him, but Ethan only smiled and reached out to caress her head.
“Sophia,” he continued softly, “we have a long life ahead. We have not even lived one-tenth of what we are meant to live. Do not forget who we are.”
Sophia’s eyes widened.
“Yeah…” she murmured. “How could I forget that?”
She nodded slowly. “Thank you. I understand now.”
Ethan finally relaxed, thinking he had calmed her down.
Unfortunately, it seemed Sophia misunderstood something.
The very next day, Ethan found her on the training ground under Randall’s ruthless tutelage.
Everyone was taken aback.
Especially Ethan, who immediately started sweating.
He tried to persuade her to come back, but Sophia was stubborn beyond belief.
She refused to move.
“No…Advanced Stage..I want to reach Advanced stage…No matter what..”
Seeing her grit and toiling on the fields,Ethan churned up.
For a moment he wondered if he should hand her potion but he shook her head.
Using potion to break through wasn’t a problem however it should be taken at the peak of the realm.
If you use it at an intermediate stage of the realm,it will damage your foundation..
Snif…Sniff.
Ethan turned around and saw Miranda crying,”Mother she is too pitiful.Seeing her struggling alone makes my heart bleed.”
“Then why don’t you just accompany her.”
“…”
“Hehe…It’s okay..To gain strength one needs to work hard…Also,I need to leave papa..You see I have some work.Your daughter is super busy.”saying that Miranda ran away as fast as possible.
……
Another three months passed.
During this time, Ethan encountered a new problem.
Blank City was no longer enough.
After the recent events, the population had begun to rise uncontrollably. Refugees, merchants, craftsmen, and adventurers all flooded into the territory.
With the Wyvern nest established nearby, there was no more room to expand.
Blank City had reached its limit.
Its absolute zenith.
Ethan needed to make a decision.
He needed a new settlement.
After careful consideration, he chose the hills near the mines.
There was plenty of open land there, and the terrain was suitable for development. Resources were close by, and trade routes could be extended without too much trouble.
Ethan decided to build two new towns.
These towns would first allow basic settlement. Then, depending on results and stability, they would be developed slowly and carefully.
This was not a reckless expansion.
It was controlled growth.
With sufficient financial support and a stable administration, Ethan’s territory development plan finally began to take shape.
For the first time in a long while, he felt that everything was moving forward.
Slowly.
Steadily.
And in the right direction.
Among them, the two towns that began construction first received the largest share of resources.
They were planned on a massive scale. According to the estimates, construction would be completed within three months. Once finished, the towns could not remain empty. Unmanned towns had no value. They produced nothing and protected nothing.
Because of this, Ethan had been extremely busy recruiting new residents.
