Paradox: Sign-In Across Two Worlds
Chapter 47: Lowly Demon?
Qing firmly grasped the black scripture and looked toward the Sect Master one final time before she simply nodded. Seeing her reaction, Qing immediately opened the scripture without saying anything else.
The moment the scripture opened, he suddenly felt his consciousness being dragged away by an overwhelming force, as though an invisible hand had grabbed his soul and was forcefully pulling it somewhere beyond his control.
Qing immediately tried to resist with his mental strength, but his resistance was completely useless, and his consciousness continued being pulled away as if the force didn’t even acknowledge his existence.
For a long moment, Qing felt as though he couldn’t open his eyes, move his body, or even breathe, as if he had entered a strange state where every one of his senses had been completely cut off.
He felt himself drowning inside an endless abyss that resembled an ocean without any surface, with his consciousness continuously falling deeper without finding anything beneath him. No matter how long he fell, he couldn’t determine whether he was moving or simply trapped in the same place, and even his own thoughts felt distant and difficult to grasp.
Just when the strange sensation became overwhelming, a shadowy black flame suddenly ignited deep inside his being, and the endless darkness surrounding him trembled slightly.
The very next moment, Qing’s eyes snapped open. ’What was that? A dream?’ He looked around and found himself surrounded by endless darkness that stretched farther than he could perceive, with no ground, sky, or boundary anywhere in sight.
When he lowered his gaze toward his own body, his expression changed slightly because his entire being appeared translucent white, as though he were nothing more than a manifestation of his soul.
’My Soul?’ Qing wondered as he finally looked beneath himself, and the moment he did, his eyes immediately noticed something familiar floating at the center of the darkness.
Bifrost.
The shadowy sword floated silently at the center of the entire darkness, its tip pointing downward while its hilt remained pointed toward the sky above. Unlike the physical Bifrost he had wielded on Earth, this sword existed directly within his consciousness, and its presence felt strangely natural despite Qing never having seen it inside his Sea of Consciousness before, ’Bifrost?... You are here?’
Qing wondered as he slowly floated toward the sword, carefully observing it while trying to understand where exactly he had been sent. ’Is this my Sea of Consciousness? It feels way too different from the one I had in my previous life.’
Qing continued moving toward Bifrost while his thoughts rapidly connected the situation together. ’Hmm, but wasn’t I supposed to be sent into the Dreamland after opening the scripture?’ He couldn’t understand why he had appeared inside his own consciousness instead, especially since the scripture was clearly supposed to be connected to the Demons.
After thinking about it for a moment, his expression gradually became colder as he reached a conclusion that seemed obvious to him, ’She must have wanted some Demon to take control of me after seeing my Spiritual Roots to be that valuable. Damn bitch... Tch!’
His translucent hand was only a few inches away from reaching Bifrost when a strange voice suddenly came from behind him. "Huihuihui, you are quite the impressive Human. You came out of the Dreamland completely unscathed." Qing’s eyes widened slightly when he heard those words, and the thought that immediately appeared inside his mind was enough to make his expression turn cold, ’Don’t tell me...’
Qing immediately turned around, and just as he had suspected, something had already invaded his Sea of Consciousness. A massive translucent black figure floated several meters away from him, its entire body appearing distorted as dark energy continuously moved through it while a pair of crimson eyes stared directly at Qing.
"Huihuihui, to think you have even opened your Sea of Consciousness, now I really want this body, huihuihui!" The Demon laughed maniacally as its enormous translucent body floated through the darkness, clearly becoming excited after discovering that Qing’s consciousness had already been opened.
Qing remained completely silent as he observed the Demon without showing any obvious reaction. The Demon seemed to interpret his silence as fear and continued speaking with increasing excitement while moving around him, "And what’s this? You even have some sword inside you? Are you a Sword Cultivator? But that’s not possible. Until you reach beyond the Immortal Realm, one can never wield Sword-Unity! This is interesting, huihuihui!"
It laughed even louder as its body continuously vanished from one location before appearing somewhere else, clearly demonstrating that its control over this consciousness.
Qing didn’t respond to anything the Demon said.
His translucent eyes remained fixed on the Demon while his expression gradually became completely blank, as though his mind had stopped processing the situation in front of him. The Demon, however, didn’t notice the strange change in Qing’s expression and simply continued floating closer to his soul.
"Huihuihui! Now it’s time to chew on your soul. It was good meeting a genius cultivator like you, huihuihui!" Its enormous translucent body moved directly toward Qing until it was only an inch away from his white soul.
The moment it reached him, a massive mouth suddenly opened from the front of the Demon’s black body. A jagged and terrifying row of black teeth emerged from inside the mouth as the Demon immediately swallowed Qing’s entire translucent soul in one movement.
Its enormous mouth closed around Qing before it began laughing once again, completely convinced that it had already succeeded, "Huihuihui! Now I have obtained the perfect body! Miye did a great job handing this fool Human over to me. Now it’s time to eat the sword too, huihuihui!"
The Demon immediately turned toward Bifrost and began floating toward the shadowy sword. Its enormous mouth opened once again as it prepared to swallow the sword just as easily as it had swallowed Qing.
However, the instant before its jagged teeth could make contact with Bifrost, a tiny streak of shadowy lightning suddenly emerged from the sword. The streak crossed the darkness in an instant before striking directly against the Demon’s open mouth.
ZZZTZZZ!
The instant the shadowy lightning made contact, the Demon’s entire mouth was violently torn apart and destroyed.
"KHUUUAAGHHHHH!!!"
The Demon screamed as its massive translucent body was blasted backward several meters, while the portion of its soul that had formed its mouth melted into a black liquid. Its crimson translucent eyes widened in horror as it desperately tried to regenerate the destroyed part of its soul, but the more it attempted to heal itself, the more intense the pain became.
"KUGHHH!!! GAHHHHH!!"
The Demon continued screaming as its black translucent body trembled violently in the darkness. It couldn’t understand what had just happened because the attack had come from a sword that should have been nothing more than a part of that Human’s consciousness.
The Demon desperately attempted to gather its Demonic Energy and reconstruct its destroyed mouth, but every attempt failed as the shadowy energy left behind by Bifrost continued preventing the damaged portion of its soul from recovering.
For the first time since entering Qing’s consciousness, the Demon began to feel genuine fear.
While the Demon continued struggling against the pain, a series of footsteps suddenly echoed through the darkness. The sound came from beside the shadowy sword, and the Demon immediately turned its crimson eyes toward the source.
A translucent figure slowly emerged from beside Bifrost, his hands already wrapped around the hilt of the shadowy sword as he calmly walked forward. The figure’s appearance was identical to Neolan’s appearance from his previous life, and his expression was completely detached as his translucent eyes remained fixed on the Demon.
"How dare a lowly Demon enter my Sea of consciousness?"
