Pampered by My Secret Husband

"What flowers?" Sophie Sullivan looked utterly baffled.

The secretary glanced at the small card on the bouquet. "They were sent by someone called Thomas Shannon."

Sophie Sullivan didn’t even spare the bouquet a look. She cut straight to the point: "Throw them away."

The secretary was a bit embarrassed, but seeing how bad Sophie Sullivan’s facial color looked, decided to do as she said. "Yes, Miss Cecilia Branford, I’ll throw the flowers out right away."

Lucifer held back a smile and handed her a cup of water. "You’re just going to toss them without even taking a look?"

"What’s there to look at." Sophie Sullivan took a few sips of water. After putting down the cup, she said, "I’m starving, let’s go get some food."

"Okay." Lucifer stood up with her. "What do you feel like eating?"

Shoulder to shoulder, the two walked out of the company. Leo immediately pulled open the car door. Sophie Sullivan lifted her eyes and saw the man leaning against the Lincoln car door.

Between his fingertips was one cigarette, smoke drifting lazily, and those deep eyes, his gaze burning as it locked on her.

Sophie Sullivan withdrew her gaze and bent down to get in the car.

Lucifer shot Thomas Shannon a provocative smile, then got in the car as well.

That fellow actually dared scheme against his Cecilia Branford—unforgivable!

Every time he thought about how Cecilia Branford was now another man’s wife, the flames burning in Lucifer’s chest only blazed higher.

He wished he could kill that culprit!

Thomas Shannon let out a cold snort and turned to get in the car. His face dark, he said to the man in black, "Follow them!"

"Yes, Young Master!"

The black Rolls-Royce convoy arrived at a Restaurant.

The Restaurant had already been cleared out in advance. To welcome Miss Cecilia Branford, the manager led the waiters out to greet her.

"Welcome, Miss Cecilia Branford, and His Highness Lucifer." The manager bowed and immediately made a please gesture.

Sophie Sullivan, eyes straight ahead, followed Lucifer into the Restaurant. The two took seats by the window, and the manager brought over the menu.

Sophie Sullivan propped her cheek with one hand, looking very drowsy. "Lucifer, you order for me."

Anyway, he knew what she liked to eat.

"Sure." Lucifer really enjoyed the feeling of being relied on by her.

The tacit understanding and intimacy between the two of them was something no one could wedge themselves into.

While the dishes were being served, Sophie Sullivan casually brought up the affair with Liam Donald. Lucifer’s motion of drinking water paused. He looked at Sophie Sullivan with a meaningful gaze, the smile at the corner of the mouth deepening. "Cecilia Branford, do you really believe Liam Donald just happened to have something come up so last-minute that his return date became uncertain?"

"Lucifer, you mean...?" Although she’d had her doubts inside heart, Sophie Sullivan in the end still believed Walton Manor’s housekeeper’s words.

She hadn’t let her mind go in that direction.

"Missing Liam Donald once might be a coincidence. But a fixed itinerary suddenly turning into a return date uncertain because of some last-minute affair—that really makes one think."

What Lucifer said was just one step short of openly pointing out that Thomas Shannon had been pulling strings behind the scenes, creating trouble for Liam Donald and tying up his trip back.

Sophie Sullivan wasn’t stupid. With just a few words from Lucifer, she had already figured out who he meant.

The hand of the water cup tightened a little. Sophie Sullivan said angrily, "He’d better not let me find out it was him, otherwise..."

"Otherwise what will you do, Cecilia Branford?"

"Beat him up!"

Lucifer was amused by her. "Violent things like that aren’t suitable for a lady to do. Better let me handle it on your behalf."

Outside the Restaurant, Thomas Shannon sat in the car, watching the two of them chat and laugh, their eyes filled with tender affection as they looked at each other. The cigarette he had been toying with in his hand was suddenly clenched tight, crushed into a lump.
