Chapter 513: The Miraculous Tree Species, Excavating Ancient Civilizations!

  • Next Chapter

Hyenas were known as the number two predators of the grassland, their danger second only to lions!

"Number two of the grassland? He's thrashing the number two of the grassland!"

"Good lord, the hyenas' vicious image has been completely replaced by Temple Master Ning!"

"It isn't that the hyenas are weak, it's just that Temple Master Ning is too strong!"

"I swear I just saw him kick a hyena seven or eight meters away!"

"You're not seeing things, I saw it too!"

The live chat blew up.

Everyone knew Ning Fei was tough, but no one expected him to be this fierce.

Combining the Dog Beating Staff Technique with swift kicks, he struck exclusively at the hyenas' most vulnerable spots—their spines.

Every strike was ruthless!

Moving with swift and sudden agility, Ning Fei left seven or eight hyenas wailing on the ground, clearly injured.

Witnessing this brutal display, the remaining hyenas didn't dare stick around. They hastily fled with their tails between their legs.

Little Dog was having the time of his life. Seeing the pack retreat, the puppy scrambled after them, landing a few more vicious bites on their heels.

The hyena pack didn't dare fight back, bolting as fast as their legs could carry them.

Even the injured ones scrambled away with heavy limps.

They finally realized exactly what kind of entity they had provoked.

Meanwhile, the viewers noticed several groups of animals watching the spectacle unfold from the sidelines.

Zebras, wildebeests, gazelles, and giraffes all silently observed the scene.

Even a pride of lions was watching.

At that moment, every animal in the vicinity was probably thinking the exact same thing:

Where did this two-legged beast come from, and why is he so incredibly ferocious?

Once the hyenas had scurried off, Ning Fei tossed his wooden staff aside and immediately checked Little Dog and Little falcon for injuries.

Both pets were remarkably tough; fending off a few hyenas was child's play for them.

Finding them completely unscathed, he breathed a sigh of relief.

The viewers excitedly chattered in the live chat.

"Temple Master Ning, where did you learn the Dog Beating Staff Technique? Can you teach me?"

"That was so badass!"

"Yeah, even dog lovers think Temple Master Ning did the right thing, and they want to give him a thumbs-up!"

"Absolutely insane!"

While the domestic viewers were relatively calm, the international audience watching his stream was in an absolute uproar.

They simply couldn't believe someone had pulled off a stunt like that.

Even globally renowned Wilderness Survival experts like Lord Ed and Lord Bear would detour around wild predators, doing everything possible to avoid direct confrontation and choosing to lay low.

Yet Ning Fei had just charged head-on into a pack of hyenas?

He had just arrived at the Madagascar Grassland, and his first order of business was to beat up a pack of hyenas?

You had to be kidding!

"A god of Huaxia!"

"I'm saying it again, this Huaxia man is absolutely Superman!"

"We should capture him and study his DNA to see if we can extract a super-soldier serum!"

"My God! Can a normal human even do that?"

"If you'd seen his previous videos, you wouldn't be questioning it!"

Dusting off his hands, Ning Fei went right back to pitching his tent.

"We're safe now. Hyenas are smart animals. They know we're not to be trifled with, so they definitely won't come back to bother us," he reassured Bai Yi, before turning to address the viewers in his live stream.

"Please don't imitate what I just did. If you ever encounter hyenas or any other wild predators, run away if you can."

The viewers chimed in with agreement:

"Don't worry, we won't be running into any hyenas in our lifetime!"

It was nearing dusk, and the sun was slowly dipping below the horizon.

The sun on the grassland looked incredibly warm, painting the horizon in a rich golden hue.

Very few animals were active at night. Without the benefit of good night vision, most carnivores settled down to rest, while herbivores gathered in their respective herds to find safe places to bed down.

Gazing into the distance, Ning Fei smiled.

"Dinner is sorted for tonight. I didn't expect to find these here."

His words sparked the viewers' curiosity.

They all wondered what exactly Ning Fei planned to eat out here on the grassland.

Was he going to hunt?

Instead, Ning Fei led his little companions straight toward a somewhat barren patch of land nearby.

The Madagascar Grassland wasn't entirely lush and green; parts of it were stark and arid.

Because it was currently the wet season, the arid patches were minimal. During the dry season, vast stretches of the land would show signs of desertification.

"Look at those trees over there. Those are baobab trees, and they'll be providing our dinner tonight," Ning Fei said.

As the drone panned over, the viewers saw a cluster of bizarre-looking trees standing near the edge of the grassland.

The trees were incredibly tall but possessed a peculiar appearance. Their sparse, sprawling branches looked just like roots, making the trees appear as though they had been planted upside down.

"The baobab is also known as the Tree of Life," Ning Fei explained. "For the local people in Africa, it's a plant worthy of profound reverence."

"Their massive trunks store a tremendous amount of water during the rainy season. Then, when the dry season hits, their sparse foliage effectively minimizes water loss."

"The volume of water a baobab can hold is staggering. A single mature tree can store thousands of kilograms of water—enough to sustain a family of four in arid regions for half a year."

The viewers marveled at his explanation.

"One tree can hold thousands of kilos of water? Seriously?"

"Everything Temple Master Ning says is true!"

"I just looked it up, and it's a fact. Mother Nature is simply amazing."

"Who would've thought a place as dry as Africa would have plants like this? No wonder they're called the Tree of Life!"

"My repository of useless trivia expands once more!"

"Am I watching a live stream? No, I'm taking a class!"

"Aside from storing massive amounts of water, baobabs also boast high nutritional value," Ning Fei continued.

"Their fruit is delicious. Locals usually like to roast or boil it, and it tastes very similar to freshly baked bread."

"The fruit is also incredibly rich in protein."

"Of course, it can also be eaten raw. It's said that during several severe famines in Africa, baobab trees saved tens of thousands of lives."

"They are deeply cherished all across the African continent."

As he spoke, Ning Fei stopped beneath one of the massive baobabs.

Up close, the tree looked exceptionally bizarre.

Its sheer, vertical trunk resembled a gigantic chimney, crowned with only a sparse smattering of branches at the very top.

"Brother, how are you supposed to get up there?" Bai Yi asked.

Before Ning Fei could even reply, the live chat had already provided the answer.

A single word—"Fly"—scrolled across the screen. A moment later, the chat was completely blanketed in a dense wave of the word "Fly."

How else would Temple Master Ning climb a tree? By flying, of course.

Reality played out exactly as the viewers predicted.

Ning Fei took a few quick, running strides before lightly kicking off the trunk. Stepping seamlessly on a few natural divots in the bark, he effortlessly scaled his way up into the branches.

The viewers were completely desensitized to these miraculous feats by now.

It was Temple Master Ning, after all!

They wouldn't even be surprised if he started walking on thin air.

Up in the canopy, Ning Fei plucked a few baobab fruits before sliding back down the trunk.

Tonight's dinner would be roasted baobab fruit.

Drawing a small knife, he also made a shallow incision in the trunk. Instantly, a stream of crystal-clear water gushed out.

The water was cleaner than filtered water, rich in nutrients, and possessed a subtle sweetness.

Once they had collected enough, the flow slowed and stopped. The baobab tree's self-healing capabilities were incredibly rapid.

'Thank you for your gift. Boundless merit,' Ning Fei silently chanted to the tree in his heart.

Before long, Ning Fei and Bai Yi had a crackling campfire going next to their tent.

Since the ground beneath the fire pit was completely bare, they didn't have to worry about accidentally starting a brushfire.

They skewered the baobab fruits on sticks and roasted them over the flames. In no time, a mouth-watering fragrance wafted through the air.

"It really does smell like freshly baked bread!" Bai Yi exclaimed in pleasant surprise.

"Yeah, and it has the texture of baked bread too, only it tastes even better," Ning Fei replied with a smile.

Once the fruits were fully roasted, the two of them dug in.

The flavor was exceptionally good, settling in their stomachs with a comforting warmth.

Ning Fei tossed a few pieces to his little companions as well.

Little Dog had never been a picky eater and happily devoured whatever was offered. The other pets seemed to enjoy the meal just as much.

Little falcon let out a soft cry. Ning Fei instantly understood what it meant: the bird was asking if it should go catch a wild hare for them.

Such considerate pets were truly a rarity these days.

Ning Fei smiled. "We'll save that for tomorrow."

"Brother," Bai Yi chimed in, "what kind of treasure are we out here looking for? Are there heavenly treasures like Lingzhi or Ginseng out on the grassland?"

Bai Yi had just voiced the very question all the viewers were dying to ask.

Ning Fei shook his head. "Of course not. The grassland undergoes prolonged dry seasons, meaning the vast majority of plants can't sustain long-term growth here. They can only grow in phases."

"But you said earlier that we were coming to look for a treasure."

Ning Fei smiled mysteriously.

"There are countless legends regarding the origins of humanity," he said. "Some say Huaxia is the cradle of civilization, while others argue that humanity first appeared in Africa."

"I personally lean toward the theory that civilizations were born in both Asia and Africa during the exact same era—a civilization that predates even Atlantis."

"When I was reading through Plato's writings and Napoleon's biography earlier, along with various historical archaeological records, I made a rough calculation. The birthplace of Africa's earliest civilization is right here—the Madagascar Grassland."

"This land has sat untouched by humans for thousands of years. Who knows, I might just be able to uncover something."

Hearing Ning Fei's words, the viewers in the live stream collectively froze in shock.

It turned out that Ning Fei had come to the Madagascar Grassland to excavate an ancient civilization!
