Chapter 265: The Entire Snowy Mountain Will Turn Holy Gold
It was nearing six in the evening. To Ning Fei's surprise, while he was resting beside his tent, Da Long came running over.
The snow leopard hadn't come alone. He carried a dead rock sheep in his jaws.
Judging by the blood smeared around his mouth, he had just returned from a hunt along the cliffs.
The viewers were also a little stunned.
Many people loved watching wild predators hunt. Both snow leopards and rock sheep sprinted across complex, sheer cliff faces; a hunt in that environment would have been incredibly thrilling to watch.
It was truly a shame to miss such a spectacle.
Da Long dropped the rock sheep on the ground and called out to Ning Fei.
"Meow~ Meow~"
The viewers froze when they heard the snow leopard's cries.
There was absolutely no trace of the majestic king of the snow mountains in his voice. Instead, he sounded exactly like a house cat."That's the cry of the king of the snow mountains?"
"That is way too cute!"
"I want my cat to fight it!"
"I thought a snow leopard's roar would be totally badass!"
Ning Fei smiled as he listened to the cries and explained.
"Snow leopards really do sound like this, all soft and cute. Their vocal cords lack a thick wall of elastic fibrous tissue, so they can't roar like lions, tigers, or other leopards. They can only meow."
"Da Long is inviting me to eat with him."
Ning Fei reached out and rubbed Da Long's head. The snow leopard's thick fur felt incredibly soft to the touch.
He sighed emotionally, "Snow leopards aren't fans of deep socializing. Much like many people today, they prefer solitude."
"But once they develop a fondness for a person or a thing, they become very enthusiastic."
Ning Fei looked at the freshly killed rock sheep in front of him, feeling a bit helpless.
The rock sheep was a Second-Class Protected Animal. Of course, this legal protection only applied to humans. To a snow leopard, food was food.
A snow leopard hunting and inviting Ning Fei to share its meal wasn't technically illegal. After all, lawmakers hadn't exactly planned for a situation like this.
However, if Ning Fei ate a rock sheep on a live broadcast and the wrong people saw it, it wouldn't be a good look.
So, Ning Fei addressed the viewers.
"Sorry, everyone, I'm going to end the stream for a bit."
"Depending on the situation tonight, I might go live again!"
With that said, Ning Fei turned off the broadcast.
Da Long meowed at Ning Fei a couple more times. Ning Fei told him gently, "Alright, alright. You eat first. I'll go prepare a bit."
Among the four benevolent beasts, the reason the Zouwu was known as a benevolent creature was because it never ate animals that hadn't died of natural causes.
Now, Ning Fei mooching off a snow leopard's meal didn't violate any moral codes either.
Ning Fei then took out his knife, carved off some meat from the rock sheep's leg, and washed it clean in the snow.
He sliced off a few choice cuts of raw meat to feed the little falcon before heading off to search the surroundings for dry branches.
Withered grass grew around the cliffs, but trees were relatively sparse, making the search for firewood quite a hassle.
Fortunately, Ning Fei found a large section of a long-dead tree trunk lying in the snow. He simply hoisted it onto his shoulder and carried it back.
Since he wasn't streaming, Ning Fei no longer had to hold back.
Exerting his immense strength, he snapped the arm-thick trunk into several pieces with just a few swift movements.
His sudden burst of violence gave Da Long a start.
Da Long retreated two steps and stared at Ning Fei, terrified that the man might exert a little force and snap him just like the wood.
"What are you scared of?" Ning Fei smiled helplessly.
Soon after, Ning Fei started a fire and built a campfire.
They were on the leeward slope where there was virtually no wind, so lighting the fire wasn't difficult.
Had they been anywhere else in the snowy region, starting a fire wouldn't have been so easy.
Due to the high altitude of the snowlands, the boiling point of water was low. If one wanted a hot meal, roasting was the only viable method. Any higher up the mountain, and boiling water wouldn't even be hot enough to cook an egg; getting a warm meal for the stomach was tough.
Ning Fei skewered the leg meat and roasted it over the fire.
The little falcon thoroughly enjoyed the raw meat Ning Fei tossed to it.
At first, the snow leopard was a bit frightened by the campfire, but after lingering beside it for a while, it grew so comfortable that it refused to leave.
This big, chubby leopard had likely lived its whole life without ever experiencing the warmth of a fire.
Still, with its thick pelt, it didn't fear the winter cold anyway.
Eating barbecue on a snowy mountain had a unique charm of its own.
Once the rock sheep meat was cooked, he brought it to his mouth and took a bite.
The texture was much chewier than he had imagined.
The snow leopard lay beside him, fiercely gorging itself in total earnestness.
Ning Fei glanced down at the leopard and thought to himself that it was a good thing he hadn't streamed this; the gory sight would easily have scared little kids.
That night, Ning Fei looked up at the stars.
By now, the sky was pitch-black, plunging their surroundings into absolute darkness.
Yet the moment he raised his head, the Milky Way sprawled across the entire sky.
These were the clearest, most abundant stars Ning Fei had ever seen in his life.
Neither the Qinshan Mountain range nor the Hulunbuir Grassland could compare to the starry skies above the snowlands.
The feeling that he could reach out and pluck the stars from the sky was incredibly vivid.
Seeing this breathtaking sight, Ning Fei turned his stream back on.
Nighttime was the peak hour for livestream viewers.
Moreover, Ning Fei was broadcasting from Kunlun Tianshan.
As a result, the moment the stream went live, his viewer count rapidly skyrocketed.
"It's so dark."
"Where's Ning Guan master? Why can't I see anything?"
"Snowy mountains look pretty terrifying at night."
"Yeah, there's absolutely nothing around."
The viewers tuned in to pitch-black surroundings, only able to make out the pristine white snow faintly sparkling in the dim light.
Then, the drone's camera tilted upwards.
What followed was a scene none of them would ever forget.
Ning Fei had pitched his tent on the leeward slope. It was a steep incline that practically bordered a sheer cliff.
Right at that moment, Ning Fei was seated on a massive boulder protruding from the cliffside.
Dressed in his Blue Robe, he sat there, gazing up at the heavens.
The winds atop the snowy peak were fierce, causing his hair to dance wildly in the air.
The little falcon rested quietly on one side of him, while the snow leopard lounged lazily on the other, wrapping its long tail over its body to stay warm.
And framing this entire moment was the backdrop of an endless galaxy.
The viewers had always watched from a third-person perspective, so they hadn't quite realized that the drone was the true master of cinematography.
It always captured the most breathtaking, artistic shots for the stream.
Just like right now.
The boundless expanse of stars alone was enough to leave the viewers gasping in awe.
Let alone Ning Fei's pose and demeanor, which were absolutely perfect.
In a daze, the viewers felt as if they were looking at an immortal who had grown weary of flying through the starry night and had stopped to rest atop the summit of the snowy mountain.
Explosively handsome.
"This is too damn handsome!"
"Screenshot saved! DM me if you want the wallpaper."
"I want it! I want it!"
"+1"
"Ning Guan master was literally tailor-made for my aesthetic. I'm so hyped right now."
"Ahhh~ Hubby~ I'm so excited I could pee!"
"Ahem, that feeling might not be peeing. It might just be an orgasm."
"Can we not talk about this when the scenery is so gorgeous?"
The drone slowly ascended.
Ning Fei smiled gently at the camera.
His smile was deeply infectious. Especially in a setting like this, it made people marvel that such an ethereal man existed in the world.
"As I was stargazing, I remembered something important, so I started the stream to give everyone a heads up."
"Tomorrow morning, I'll be waking up early to watch the sunrise."
"It's winter, so the sun rises relatively late. Plus, we're further west here. The earliest sunrise in Huaxia should be over in Heilongjiang, then Jingdu, and then here."
"I'll go live at around 7:00 AM."
Hearing this, one of the viewers couldn't help but ask, "Why does it feel like Ning Guan master is treating this so solemnly? Is a sunrise on a snowy mountain different from everywhere else?"
Ning Fei smiled and said, "Of course it's different."
"During a snow mountain sunrise, you aren't looking at the sun. You're looking at the mountain."
"When the sun crests the horizon, the entire snowy mountain will turn holy gold."
"Or, as the common saying goes..."
"Sunshine on the golden mountain!"
