Chapter 835: Exactly What Kind of Background Do They Have?

  • Next Chapter

The masked man looked at Walker Grant with increased gravity. Until he could contact the leader and receive new orders, his hands were tied regarding this man. It was a terrible situation. The original plan was already bound to become trickier, but as long as he didn’t hurt Walker, everything would probably be fine, right?

As the masked man weighed his options, Walker spoke up again. "When you finally get in touch with him, let me say a few words. He still owes me a final payment from last time, and I want to ask him when he plans to pay me back."

The masked man was completely speechless. Great, they had a debtor-creditor relationship. Now he truly didn’t dare to act rashly.

Taking a deep breath, he tried to sound accommodating. "Mr. Grant, it’s far too chaotic and unsafe out there. Please just stay right here, and we can guarantee your safety."

"Sure." Walker’s thin lips curled into a faint smile. "While you’re at it, do me a favor and find someone for me."

The masked man’s expression grew even more conflicted. "Who are you looking for, Mr. Grant?"

"My wife, Chloe Reed," Walker said slowly. "She came here on vacation, but your sudden appearance scared her off. Therefore, it is your responsibility to find her for me."

The masked man fell silent, feeling as though he were suffocating. He needed a moment to process this. Until he got ahold of the leader, he couldn’t afford to make a single wrong move!

"Well?" Seeing the man wasn’t responding, Walker tilted his head slightly. His tone carried a hint of confusion. "Why aren’t you speaking? Is this an unreasonable request?"

"What a coincidence," the masked man replied. "We are also looking for Miss Chloe. However, the villa is quite large, and finding someone takes time. Please be patient, Mr. Grant."

"Alright," Walker agreed calmly. "I’ll wait right here. Make sure you bring my wife back to me in one piece."

The masked man fell silent again, feeling the mounting pressure pressing down on him. Outside, a portion of the mercenaries were trying to control the fire, but to little effect. The flames remained fierce. Even though they were in the suburbs, it was only a matter of time before someone noticed the blaze. They couldn’t delay this any longer.

He shot a sharp glance at his subordinates, signaling them to find Chloe Reed as quickly as possible. Once found, they were to eliminate her immediately to prevent any future trouble!

A voice crackled through his earpiece. "Boss, we’ve found the broadcasting room."

The masked man acknowledged the report but didn’t issue any further orders. He was waiting. His gaze landed on the man sitting in the chair. Walker was clearly blind, and the current situation was glaringly disadvantageous to him, yet he showed no sign of panic. If anything, he seemed increasingly calm and composed. That powerful, steady aura made the masked man feel a deep sense of begrudging respect. He withdrew his gaze, his eyes flashing with mixed emotions.

Just then, a subordinate handed over a phone. The masked man’s expression immediately became serious and respectful as he took the device. "Leader."

"Give the phone to Walker Grant," the voice on the other end ordered.

"Yes, sir," the masked man replied. He walked up to Walker. "Mr. Grant, it’s a call from our leader."

Walker acted as if he hadn’t heard him. He lowered his head slightly, fumbling blindly to adjust his clothes.

Seeing this, cold sweat began to form on the masked man’s forehead! His grip on the phone tightened slightly. In his memory, no one had ever dared to slight the leader like this!

Well, except for Lone Wolf. But to think that this Walker Grant dared to do the same! Just what kind of background did he have? Wasn’t he just the head of a corporate family? Even with immense domestic wealth and power, that didn’t necessarily translate to significant influence on an international scale, did it?
