The faint crackle of distant firecrackers and fireworks drifted over, adding a touch of color to the silent night sky. However, the lively atmosphere couldn’t influence Chloe Reed in the slightest. She had originally thought she would spend this New Year in peace, never expecting such thrilling events to unfold. Her blood practically boiled with adrenaline.

Chloe checked the terrain map. She had already left the stables and was now very close to the garage. If she was lucky, there would still be an intact car inside that she could drive out. But if she was unlucky...

She couldn’t afford to entertain that possibility right now. Her clear eyes grew firm as she continued toward the garage.

The fire raged larger by the minute. Cold winds blew the thick smoke everywhere. The mercenaries were still searching for Chloe, yet they couldn’t find a single trace of her. Even when they pinpointed her approximate location, they would only find the corpses of their comrades lying on the grass by the time they arrived. Chloe was nowhere to be seen.

She was far too cunning. And incredibly formidable.

It forced them to raise their guard to the absolute highest level. No wonder their employer had requested the entire team to be dispatched this time. This woman was an absolute nightmare to deal with.

The mercenary leader wore a dark, gloomy expression. Though it was hidden beneath a mask, his sharp, icy gaze alone was enough to make anyone tremble in fear.

Constant updates from his team flooded his earpiece. Some were confirmations of their comrades’ deaths, while others were reports of Chloe’s location followed by immediate pursuit. The guns and ammunition of every fallen mercenary had been stripped clean by Chloe. As a result, she now possessed an endless supply of weapons.

"Stay on alert. Confirm her position first, then take her out with a single strike!" the masked leader ordered coldly. Chloe’s cunning nature had actually piqued his interest.

Just then, another voice crackled over the comms. "Chief, we’ve found someone else in the villa’s main hall. It looks like Walker Grant, the CEO of Grant Group."

The masked man paused in surprise at the news before letting out a dark chuckle. "Capture him and bring him to me. Also, locate the villa’s broadcasting room."

"Understood."

Meanwhile, Walker Grant and his bodyguard had been hiding in a room, not daring to step out since the chaos erupted. Yet, against all odds, they had still been discovered. The bodyguard was swiftly neutralized, while the two mercenaries stepped forward, grabbed Walker, and dragged him out.

With white gauze wrapped around his eyes, Walker couldn’t see what was happening. However, judging from the sounds alone, he knew a massive upheaval had overtaken the villa. Just before his bodyguard was taken down, he had been informed that these intruders still hadn’t found Chloe.

It had been almost an hour since the attack began, meaning she was still safe. Walker felt the heavy anxiety in his chest ease just a fraction. But now that he had been captured, he might become a burden to her.

Walker pressed his thin lips into a firm line. Feeling the rough handling of the two mercenaries, he furrowed his brows and spoke. "Is this how Ike usually trains you?"

Hearing their leader’s name so suddenly, the two mercenaries clearly froze. They exchanged a glance, both seeing the utter disbelief and solemnity in each other’s eyes.

International mercenary organizations were numerous and highly secretive, with the true names of their leaders being top-tier classified information. Exposing such a name invited fatal retaliation, which was why they always used aliases on missions and strictly kept their appearances hidden.

Yet, this man actually knew it!
