Our Anniversary, You Chose Her – I Chose Divorce
Chapter 827: Unable to Contact
Chloe Reed typed, "Then we’ll escort you to the safe zone first. After that, we’ll cause some chaos."
Fiona Linton nodded. "Okay." Although she regretted not being able to join them in the action, the current situation was no child’s play. She couldn’t afford to hold them back.
Preston Vance said, "If we all move together, we’ll be too big of a target. Having one person escort her there will be enough."
"I have to protect Mrs. Grant," the bodyguard replied. "Those were Mr. Grant’s orders."
Preston furrowed his brows slightly. "My reconnaissance skills aren’t great. We’re very likely to be exposed along the way."
Chloe pondered for a moment, then pointed at the bodyguard before pointing at Fiona. She meant for the bodyguard to escort Fiona to the cold storage.
The bodyguard frowned.
"Look, can you stop wasting time?" Fiona said. "Our goal is for all of us to get out of this hellhole as quickly as possible."
Gritting his teeth, the bodyguard agreed. "Let me contact the others first to see what the situation is elsewhere."
The group didn’t rush him. After waiting for a moment, the bodyguard looked back at them with a grave expression. "I can’t reach them."
As the words left his mouth, the surrounding atmosphere grew heavier. Either the signal had been completely severed, or the others had already met their demise.
Chloe closed her eyes, quickly forcing herself to calm down. Looking at the bodyguard, she typed, "You escort her to the cold storage, then find a chance to get out. Preston and I will find a safe place to hide and wait for you to bring people back to save us."
The bodyguard nodded. "Yes, Mrs. Grant!"
Now that the decision had been made, it was time to act. The four split into two groups and set off in different directions.
Chloe and Preston returned to the bartending room. Opening the topographical map once more, they began searching for a safe hiding spot. It absolutely couldn’t be nearby. Once the fire intensified, it would spread rapidly, making the immediate vicinity too dangerous. Therefore, they needed to find a location that was neither too close nor too far from the blaze.
Preston suddenly zoomed in on the map and pointed at a specific area. "What about here? This is the racecourse. It’s an open area with only the stables for cover. They shouldn’t head there anytime soon."
Moreover, they wouldn’t have to cross the main road to get to the racecourse from their current position, making it relatively safer.
Chloe nodded, agreeing with his suggestion.
Without hesitation, they grabbed the remaining alcohol from the bartending room and splashed it across the hallway. Moving with careful precision, they quickly finished the task. Then, Preston pulled out his lighter. Finding some napkins, he set them on fire and tossed them straight into the room.
Flames ignited instantly, spreading at a terrifying speed!
Before long, the dark room was illuminated by the blaze. The flickering firelight immediately caught the attention of the mercenaries. Hiding in the shadows, Chloe and Preston shot anyone who approached! They absolutely could not allow them to extinguish the fire! The blaze needed to grow massive!
Sensing that something was wrong, the mercenaries stationed further away pressed their earpieces and began contacting the others.
Chloe and Preston exchanged a glance. Seeing the fire growing larger and beginning to spread outward, they decided not to linger any longer. Leaving in the opposite direction, they swiftly headed toward the racecourse.
