It was an equally dangerous undertaking.

Fiona Linton said, "Aren’t we going to cause a scene here? Their attention will definitely shift this way, and then we can slip past in the chaos."

Chloe Reed pondered for a moment, then typed out a response. "We still need a backup plan. We must be prepared for anything."

The moment the electronic female voice from her phone faded, a blinding beam of light swept into the room. The group immediately dropped to the floor, scrambling for cover to avoid the flashlight beams piercing through from the outside. Fortunately, the beam merely swept past. Whoever was holding it didn’t linger by the window to peer closely inside. If they had, the group’s cover would undoubtedly have been blown.

THUMP THUMP THUMP.

Their hearts hammered violently against their ribs, threatening to leap out of their chests. Their palms slicked with sweat as adrenaline surged, washing away the paralyzing fear in their minds.

After a while, once they were certain no one else was approaching, they huddled together again. This time, Chloe didn’t use the text-to-speech function. She simply typed her words on the screen to communicate with them silently.

Chloe typed, "We need to find a way to take their weapons. With weapons, we can defend ourselves and significantly increase our chances of survival."

Just moments ago, hiding behind a cabinet like a cornered rat, she had felt a profound sense of helplessness and passivity. She hadn’t brought a gun on this trip, which was a grave oversight on her part. Therefore, acquiring a weapon was imperative; simply having a gun in her hand would restore half her sense of security.

The bodyguard nodded, keeping his voice low. "I have a gun on me. We can secure more weapons first, create a distraction, and then head to the safe zone to await rescue."

Chloe nodded in agreement.

"Let’s get everything prepped right now," Fiona said. "We’ll open all these bottles of liquor. That way, when it’s time to make our move, all we’ll have to do is toss a lit cigarette."

Chloe nodded once more, and they sprang into action without delay. The group immediately got to work, specifically searching for high-proof spirits. They uncorked the bottles and tipped them over on their sides, allowing the alcohol to slowly spill out. Before long, every bottle of hard liquor in the mixing room lay discarded on the floor. A pungent stench of alcohol filled the enclosed space as the liquid spread across the tiles, rapidly pooling together.

Chloe stared at the slender-necked bottle in her hand. Instead of discarding it, she held onto it tightly, knowing it could serve as a makeshift weapon in a critical moment.

They slipped out of the mixing room, consulting their topographical map to monitor the situation outside. Fiona already had a needle pinched between her fingers. She could use it to incapacitate a person in mere seconds, creating the perfect opening for them to finish the enemy off.

The entire manor was shrouded in pitch darkness. From outside, the distant, intertwined sounds of firecrackers and fireworks drifted through the air, carrying a heavy, festive New Year’s atmosphere. Yet, at this very moment, the estate was saturated with a chilling, murderous intent. At any second, a dark silhouette could lunge out from the shadows and catch them off guard.

Chloe and her group were positioned at the side of the hot spring area. Just outside lay an open expanse, a spot typically used for gatherings and barbecues, with grills still resting on the lawn. Massive trees bordered the area, offering natural cover.

The bodyguard took the lead, his sharp eyes sweeping the surroundings. Only after confirming the coast was clear did he wave for the women to follow. There were very few of the mysterious intruders in this sector; almost all of them had congregated around the guest rooms.
