Our Anniversary, You Chose Her – I Chose Divorce
Chapter 820: You’ve Actually Done That Kind of Thing?
Arthur Grant was stunned for a moment by Judith Pierce’s shouting, his face darkening. Waving his hand dismissively, he retorted, "I’m his father. Why shouldn’t I have a say in his life? My only regret is stepping in too late. If I had disciplined him when he was a child, he wouldn’t have turned out like this."
Judith Pierce’s breathing was ragged. It took her several attempts to steady herself before she managed to calm down. "Your attention has always been on Julian," she said. "You rarely paid any mind to Walker, nor did you ever show him any affection. Since you failed to fulfill your duties as a father to him, don’t try to use your title to discipline him now. The fact that he only threatened you shows he’s already keeping his temper in check."
She sighed heavily, her tone turning earnest. "We only have one son left. Let’s stop dwelling on the past, alright? The most important thing right now is his health. Chloe Reed told me she’s going to divorce Walker. The day he fully recovers is the day she’ll leave. We don’t even need to chase her away. Let’s just focus our attention on Walker and Noah. That way, we might actually be able to mend our relationship with him."
Her words made perfect sense. The crux of the issue lay entirely with Chloe Reed. If she truly wanted a divorce, nothing Walker Grant did could stop her. But if she decided against it, they would simply have to accept it. After all, their son was madly in love with her.
Arthur Grant fell silent. His expression remained grim, but Judith Pierce’s words had finally gotten through to him.
After a long pause, he finally muttered, "I understand."
The argument had caused a sharp pain in Judith Pierce’s chest. She hurriedly fetched her medication and swallowed a pill. It took a while for her breathing to ease and her body to feel comfortable again. "From now on, we can’t argue in front of Noah," she added. "He’s still so young, and his health is fragile. What if we scare him and something terrible happens?"
"My only regret is that I can’t kill that vicious woman with my own two hands!" Fury surged across Arthur Grant’s face as he remembered that Noah’s current condition was all Sunny Reed’s doing.
Judith Pierce had clearly thought of the same thing. Her face darkened as her hands clenched into tight fists. "I never in a million years imagined she could go to such lengths. To think I actually tried to matchmake her and Walker back then... I was completely blind."
Arthur Grant shot her a sharp look. "You did that?"
Judith Pierce glared at him. "Don’t gloat. I wanted to drive Chloe Reed away back then, so I tried all sorts of tactics. But in the end, Walker shipped me off abroad. I eventually made peace with it. I’m washing my hands of their business. As long as Walker is alive and safe, that’s all that matters to me."
As for how deep his messy entanglement of love and hate with Chloe Reed went, she simply didn’t have the energy to care anymore.
She reached up and massaged her temples to soothe her throbbing headache.
Walker Grant did not return to Jardinelle. Instead, he had his driver take him directly to Soltara.
His bodyguards appeared, supporting him as he made his way inside.
The villa manager was completely caught off guard when he saw him. "Mr. Grant, what brings you here so late? Why didn’t you let me know in advance? I could have arranged a proper reception for you."
He was deeply apprehensive, terrified that any lack of hospitality might displease Walker Grant.
"It was a last-minute decision," Walker Grant replied coolly. "Where is my wife?"
"Mrs. Grant and her friends are soaking in the hot spring area," the manager quickly answered. "I’ll take you there right now."
Walker Grant gave a curt nod.
Night had already fallen. The Hot Spring Villa was sprawling, so the manager immediately hailed one of the resort’s shuttle carts and carefully helped Walker Grant into the vehicle.
