Chapter 768: Why Don’t You Just Get a Divorce

"Hahaha, does it taste just like it did when you were little?" Uncle King laughed as soon as he saw her expression. "You little rascal. You always used to trick me into thinking these fruits were sweet. Every time I took a bite, it was so sour my teeth nearly fell out."

The tart, astringent flavor flooded her mouth, ruthlessly assaulting her taste buds. There was a faint hint of sweetness mixed in, but it was so minuscule it could easily be ignored.

Chloe Reed squeezed her eyes shut. She waited for the initial burst of sourness to fade before looking at Uncle King. She typed on her phone, her fingers trembling slightly. "You still remember that?"

Uncle King sighed. "Of course I remember. You tricked me every time you visited, so I figured I had to get you back at least once. Did you forget about all that, little girl?"

Chloe actually had forgotten. Holding the crabapple, she struggled to chew it.

Uncle King chuckled. "Alright, if it doesn’t taste good, don’t force yourself. Just throw it away." He then looked toward the old lady. "Madam, the fruit from this crabapple tree is so sour. Why do you still keep it? It’d be better to chop it down and plant a new one."

The old lady, sitting lazily on the sofa, replied, "I’m not chopping it down. The wine made from these fruits is still quite delicious."

"Fair enough." Uncle King put the remaining fruits back into the refrigerator to brew into wine later when he had some free time. "You two rest for a bit, then we can eat."

Chloe finally managed to swallow the entire fruit. To her surprise, by the end, she actually found it quite tasty! It was pleasantly tart, no longer astringent, and really stimulated her appetite.

Smiling, she looked at her grandmother and typed on her phone, "Grandma, with Uncle King keeping you company every day, I can finally be at ease."

Her grandmother nodded. "Yes, us two old folks have each other to lean on now. It’s quite nice." Yet, a hint of sorrow still lingered between her brows.

Chloe’s expression grew serious. She quickly typed, "Since you’re back, just focus on your own life. Don’t think about Breyburn anymore. At your age, you should just properly enjoy life, okay?"

"Alright, I’ll listen to you." The old lady smiled affectionately and nodded.

Dinner was a lavish spread. Uncle King brought out his home-brewed fruit wine and poured everyone a glass. When he reached Chloe, his hand suddenly paused. "Miss Chloe, you aren’t pregnant, are you?"

Chloe’s face stiffened before she shook her head.

Only then did Uncle King place the wine glass in front of her, though he couldn’t help but add, "You’ve been married for so long, how is there still no news? Is Walker Grant not up to the task?"

Chloe was speechless.

Her grandmother glared at Uncle King. "Old Man King, don’t you pressure my granddaughter. Go pressure your own grandson."

But Uncle King replied, "My grandson is still in college, so I’m not in any rush. However... if Walker Grant really isn’t up to it, you might as well divorce him. When the time comes, I’ll introduce my grandson to you. He’s just as handsome as Walker, plus he’s exactly the kind of sweet, devoted puppy-dog boyfriend you young people like these days. He’s great at taking care of people, too."

As he spoke, he enthusiastically continued to pitch his grandson.

Chloe didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. She typed on her phone, "Uncle King, I’m hungry. Let’s just eat first, alright?"

"Right, right, let’s eat first. Look at me getting so worked up I forgot the main event." Uncle King laughed. "Try the food. Let’s see if my cooking skills have gotten rusty."
