Chapter 760: Don’t Want Emotions to Be Swayed

Chloe Reed smiled faintly and typed on her phone, "What do you want to eat for dinner?"

Fiona Linton thought for a moment before saying, "Is there a night market around here? You know, the kind with massive crowds, endless street food, and a super lively atmosphere."

Chloe pondered for a second and nodded, then called Daniel Hayes over and gave him the address of the market.

Daniel smiled. "I’ve heard it’s pretty bustling over there, but I’ve never had the time to check it out myself."

"That works out perfectly, then," Fiona said. "Let’s all go together today." She then turned to Chloe with a confused look. "Wait a minute. Aren’t you a wealthy heiress? How do you even know about down-to-earth places like night markets?"

Chloe was momentarily speechless. She typed, "I’m still a normal person, and I live a normal life."

Fiona chuckled sheepishly. "Sorry about that. That was a stereotype on my part."

Chloe continued typing, "Back when I was in college, Walker Grant and I used to go all the time."

Fiona raised an eyebrow. "It seems you two had a really good relationship in the past."

"Mhm." Chloe nodded.

Before they got married, their relationship had always been wonderful, and Sunny Reed’s presence between them was practically nonexistent. Chloe rarely went home during her college years, and any conflicts with her family were just minor squabbles. Compared to everything that happened later, those arguments were nothing. Most of her sweet and happy memories were from her time at university.

They graduated, they got married, and not long after that, Julian Grant passed away. Then, everything changed...

Chloe took a deep breath, forcing herself to pull away from the suffocating pain of those memories.

Fiona couldn’t help but sigh. "So even a long-term relationship doesn’t guarantee a happy ending? All sorts of unexpected things can still happen. This just strengthens my resolve to stay away from men."

Chloe looked at her earnestly with clear, watery eyes and typed, "You shouldn’t think like that. Everyone is different. What if the person you meet ends up being your lifelong love? Romance is still worth trying. It can be a beautiful thing."

Fiona waved a hand dismissively. "No thanks. I’m perfectly happy right now. I don’t want my emotions being dictated by someone else. I wouldn’t even be myself anymore."

Chloe smiled. Seeing how resolute her friend was, she decided not to press the issue.

As evening approached, the scattered rays of the setting sun spilled across the horizon, dyeing the sky with a brilliant afterglow. The night market was already bustling. The mingled aromas of various street foods hit their noses immediately, making it impossible to choose just one thing.

Fiona’s eyes lit up the moment she arrived. She wanted to eat this, and she wanted to eat that. But she held onto Chloe’s hand the entire time, asking her if she wanted a bite of everything they passed.

Chloe simply typed, "Why don’t we just get one portion of everything? We can share, and that way we can try a bigger variety."

Fiona nodded eagerly. "Yes, perfect! I’ll go buy the food. You wait right here for me!"

Each food stall had a few empty seats inside. Chloe sat down at a corner table and meticulously wiped it clean with a tissue.

Once she finished, she waited quietly for Fiona to return. Right at that moment, however, a group of young men with brightly dyed hair walked over and brazenly sat down right next to her. They chatted among themselves, completely ignoring Chloe’s presence.

Chloe furrowed her lovely brows. She held up her phone, having typed out a message: "These seats are taken."
