Chapter 1243: Chapter 1243: The Assassination Incident

Seeing everything that had just happened, Feng Tianhe knew that Pei Yan was currently in a state of fury. This matter was not originally related to him, and he had already exerted effort on behalf of an old friend before. This time, he did not wish to drag his sect into the matter because of personal relations. Thinking of this, he sighed helplessly and said, "Pei Xiaoyou, if you ask what exactly happened, I really don’t know. Do you believe me?"

"I believe you! Elder Feng just needs to tell me what he saw, and I, Pei Yan, will determine the truth," Pei Yan responded without hesitation and nodded.

"What I saw was your people being hunted down on the main street. Due to an incident two days ago, I was unsettled and strolling in the garden when I suddenly heard disciples reporting this to me, so I quickly took people out to check. Upon inspection, I happened to see your two employees; I’ve seen them at the Yirong Pavilion and know they are your people. So, I rescued them, and when those assassins saw someone intervening, they didn’t choose to continue pursuing and scattered like wild beasts. At that time, these two were severely injured, and weighing the pros and cons, I had to select a part of the disciples to chase the murderers while I personally took people to escort them all the way here."

"Hahahahaha!" After patiently listening to Feng Tianhe’s explanation, Pei Yan suddenly laughed to the sky, leaving Feng Tianhe bewildered and uneasy. After laughing, Pei Yan stood up, bowed to Feng Tianhe. Seeing this, Feng Tianhe, not knowing what was going on, also stood up to return the courtesy.

After the courtesy, Pei Yan then mockingly said, "If I remember correctly, when choosing the residence initially, it was because of the good relations with the Mo Sect that I chose the vicinity of the Immortal Palace Villa near the Mo Sect. So it means my people passed through at least three Immortal Palace Sect Villa locations from the Hongjun Sword Furnace and were hunted down without anyone coming to rescue them. Finally, it was Elder Feng who stood up for justice. It seems my reputation among the Immortal Palace People is truly poor!"

"Um— Pei Xiaoyou, you can’t blame them for being indifferent. Perhaps they, unlike me, did not know these two were Mr. Pei’s employees, so they might not have intervened in time!" Feng Tianhe himself knew his reasoning was unconvincing, yet he still wiped the sweat from his forehead with his sleeve and argued stubbornly.

"Elder Feng! Where is this?! This is not a roadside street; this is the Immortal Palace! It is the authority of the Daoist Plane! The most heavily guarded place in this plane! Yet, two consecutive times there have been acts of violence in the street!" Pei Yan, angry, asked a series of questions and then coldly sneered, "Even such an incident in the most ordinary towns of my hometown, after one occurrence, would lead to adequate vigilance! Yet here it happened consecutively twice, even if I believe they are not colluding with the culprits nor deliberately indulgent! Punishing them for dereliction of duty at the Immortal Palace would not be excessive!"

"This, not excessive! Indeed not excessive! But, Pei Xiaoyou, you’re involving too widely, I’m afraid...!" Feng Tianhe hurriedly argued stammeringly upon hearing Pei Yan’s words.

"Elder Feng, rest assured. I, Pei Yan, know the bounds! Your Spirit Lord won’t allow me to act recklessly either, but appropriate admonishment to make them aware of the seriousness of the problem is essential! Elder Feng, no matter what, I must thank you for your brave intervention at a critical moment, this friendship I, Pei Yan, will remember." Before Feng Tianhe could finish, Pei Yan waved his hand to interrupt him, firmly refusing.

At this point, Feng Tianhe knew more words were useless, only sighed, and sat on the chair in the hall. He could only silently pray his sect would avoid disaster.

While the two were speaking, a whisper suddenly broke the awkward and tense atmosphere in the room. Everyone looked towards the sound, finding it was Dalles, just healed by Pei Yan’s infusion of vitality, opening his eyes slowly. After surveying the people in the room, he set his gaze on Pei Yan, opening his mouth to speak.

Seeing this, Pei Yan quickly stepped forward, holding the other’s wrist. After checking, he found that Dalles’s injuries had stopped under his Power of Life Origin nourishment and started to slowly recover, finally escaping the verge of death. Pei Yan continued to input source energy into him and asked in a lowered voice, "Don’t rush! Slowly tell what happened exactly? Was it by people from the Hongjun Sword Furnace?"

Dalles shook his head and pursed his lips towards Pei Yan. Seeing his lips dry from blood loss, Pei Yan hastily shouted, "Water! Get him some water!"

"Nonsense! He still has internal injuries! Drinking water might have the opposite effect." Feng Tianhe couldn’t stand watching Zheng Jia Ru beside rushing to open a bottle of mineral water; he intervened, stopping him after pulling out a porcelain bottle from his bosom and handing it to Pei Yan, saying, "Not much of a good item, incomparable to your abundant Power of Origin, but it’s an upper-grade healing elixir, better than ordinary clean water. Let him drink it to quench thirst and alleviate his injuries."

"Thank you, Elder!" Pei Yan was not polite, thanked him, then took the porcelain bottle, opened the stopper, and placed it at Dalles’s lips. Smelling the wafting medicinal aroma, he slowly poured the light green liquid from the bottle into Dalles’s mouth until the medicinal liquid was completely consumed; Dalles’s pale face finally regained some color, weakly looking at Pei Yan and said, "Master, the subordinate has brought back the item without disgrace."

"Compared to your lives, that item is no longer significant. Tell me what happened exactly? Did the people from Hongjun Sword Furnace trouble you?" Since Dalles returned, Pei Yan did not even look at the bloodstained parcel of the manual, casually took it from someone beside and handed it to Feng Tianhe, then disregarded Feng Tianhe’s puzzled look and asked.

Dalles nodded, then shook his head in response, "It wasn’t trouble, just somewhat cold in attitude! We visited and were directly welcomed inside by them, but couldn’t meet the elders within; only the disciples under the sect received us. I truthfully conveyed the owner’s words to them without any disrespect, and the disciples of the Hongjun Sword Furnace did not show any indication or deliberately make things difficult. They accepted the gift from the owner and said they would report the matter to the elders inside, then gave us the prepared firearm manual and issued an order for us to leave."

"Good!" The attitude of the Hongjun Sword Furnace was entirely within Pei Yan’s expectations. They couldn’t be too enthusiastic towards himself, or it’d demean them in the eyes of other Immortal Palace sects, seen as flattery out of fear. Nor could they be overly harsh, which would provoke him and worsen relations. He dispatched retainers, and they dispatched disciples, an equal exchange with room for retreat. If the matter were stopped here, it would be a perfect resolution. As long as in seven days, Hongjun Sword Furnace provides a satisfactory response, there’ll still be room for reconciliation without becoming hostile; the problem arose once Dalles attained the items.
