Chapter 1230: Chapter 1230: Confrontation

"So we’re going to kill all of us here to silence everyone!" Pei Yan suggested with a smile as he returned to his seat with a cigar in his mouth.

Liu Xuanji slightly opened his eyes and looked at Pei Yan sitting in the chair, whose eyes were sealed, showing no emotional fluctuation. Behind him, his fellow disciples were furious at Pei Yan’s arrogant provocations, yet due to his strength and Liu Xuanji’s presence, they could only glare at him in anger.

"I might consider accepting your conditions!"

After a long silence, Liu Xuanji’s words broke the quietude of the long street, causing an uproar as the Hongjun Sword Furnace unexpectedly lowered its head to the Investigation Hall!

"Senior Brother!"

"Elder Liu, this must not happen!"

"Senior Brother, doing so will harm our sect’s prestige."

"Say no more, I know my limits." Liu Xuanji said as he stood up for the first time and looked over, asking, "Pei Xiaoyou, before agreeing to your conditions, there’s something I’d like to ask. Could you answer it?"

Seeing Liu Xuanji stand up, Pei Yan, not one to be discourteous, extinguished the cigar in his hand, put it back in its case, and stood up confidently, saying, "Elder Liu, please ask, and I will speak fully and truthfully!"

"I see you’re only around thirty, aren’t you?"

"Elder has a keen eye. If making calculations according to this world’s time, I’m only twenty-six." Pei Yan answered truthfully.

"What a good age! It’s the time for ambition and youthfulness. Then, let me ask Pei Yan, how many years have you been acquainted with your close friend here?" Liu Xuanji, after a sigh, turned his attention to Wang Seze as he asked.

Upon hearing this, Pei Yan understood Liu Xuanji’s intent and responded candidly with a smile, "I joined the Investigation Hall around six or seven years ago. When I first entered, I met these friends and have been close ever since."

"Oh, Pei Xiaoyou has acted for his friends’ sake. I’ve heard of this long ago. Today, upon meeting you, I see indeed, as the rumors say, you are a man who values emotions and loyalty greatly." Liu Xuanji praised Pei Yan and then gestured towards the people behind him with his hand, smiling, "But Pei Xiaoyou, have you ever thought that while you’ve known your friends for six or seven years and are willing to risk your life for them, I’ve been working with these disciples and friends of mine from the same sect for no less than a thousand years? Do you think I will jeopardize them because of your threat? Do you think I’m someone who would sell out friends for survival, or do you think the Hongjun Sword Furnace has fallen to the point of being unable to protect its own elders?"

"Senior Brother! We are willing to co-exist and perish with the sect!"

"Elder Liu, don’t let this despicable man coerce you. If he had been reasonable, we might have given him some explanation, but with his attitude today, why would we be at his disposal?"

"Indeed! The truth will reveal itself! I believe the Spirit Lord is wise and will not be deceived by this brat’s slander."

As Liu Xuanji’s words grew more fervent, by the end, they resounded loudly, leaving the people behind him emotionally charged, with tears in their eyes responding one by one.

"Who? Who said I was a despicable man, come forth and speak!" Faced with the righteous anger of the Hongjun Sword Furnace, Pei Yan did not retreat even a bit; instead, he coldly laughed, stepped forward with a lean, and flicked his coat to reveal the newly acquired Divine Artifact Revolver strapped to his waist, resting his hand leisurely on the gun’s grip.

Meanwhile, Hu Jiu, standing behind him, also stepped forward, slowly resting his hand on his sword’s hilt. Seeing the sudden tension in the atmosphere where both sides were on the brink of conflict, Feng Tianhe, who had come to report and was hiding to observe, instantly knew that if he did not come forward, real trouble would break out today. In his urgency, he hurriedly stepped out of the crowd and shouted loudly, "Calm down! Calm down! If it’s a misunderstanding caused by someone’s interference, then let’s talk things through! Let’s not act impulsively and make a crisis for ourselves and joy for our enemies! Pei Yan, put that away! Do you really want the first use of something I’ve poured years of effort into creating to be on an old friend? Xuanji! Let your people watch their words, after all, they are the victims here!"

With Feng Tianhe acting as a mediator, both sides’ aggressive demeanor was dampened. Pei Yan let go of his coat, covering the gun again, and signaled Hu Jiu to step back, while Liu Xuanji also let out a dry cough to prevent the crowd behind him from further chaotic accusations.

"Elder Feng, luckily you spoke fairly to tell everyone we are the victims, otherwise it would seem like I, Pei Yan, unreasonably came to bully the Hongjun Sword Furnace. I don’t care if you have a friendship of over a thousand years; I am talking about real lives lost here! Four! They were killed under Hongjun Sword Furnace’s moves, so am I wrong to ask for an explanation? Were it not for your sake, I wouldn’t be this polite today!" Pei Yan said while pointing to the corpse beside him. Then, looking at Feng Tianhe, he pointed to Hu Jiu and sneered, "Earlier, I said I would inform the Spirit Lord of the Hongjun Sword Furnace’s disgrace, and they said I was a despicable man abusing private vengeance! What a joke! Do I need to use someone else’s hand to seek revenge? I’m giving you Hongjun Sword Furnace face by saying what I did; take a good look at this person beside me, he’s the only direct descendant of the Ancestral God, a Dragon Realm Young Master with whom I’ve signed a symbiotic contract."

Pei Yan’s words caused another uproar; while many knew Pei Yan had ventured into the Dragon Realm and that he had likely gained substantial rewards, few knew of Hu Jiu’s identity or the symbiotic contract signed with him. Pei Yan revealing this information immediately stunned the crowd, even bringing shock to Liu Xuanji’s face.

Seeing the initial intimidation taking effect, Pei Yan turned back to the crowd and motioned, "Hati, Tushan Suisui, come over here."

When the two stood in front of the crowd, Pei Yan then said, "I know some of you may doubt my words, but take a look at who they are. These two are chosen companions by the Ancestral God for his descendants. Come, tell them your identities."

"I am Tushan Suisui, daughter of the Nine-tailed Fox Race’s Clan Leader." Tushan Suisui knew the risks of being brought before the crowd by Pei Yan, but she also understood Pei Yan’s action signified a formal recognition of their alliance, so she showed no fear and actively declared her identity as part of the Nine-tailed Fox Race, releasing a powerful aura.

"I am Hati, daughter of the Fenrir Giant Wolf Race’s Clan Leader!" Similarly, Hati was unwilling to miss this chance to showcase herself, immediately releasing her race’s unique energy.

"It truly is the Nine-tailed Fox Race!"

"Hehehe, who would have thought the Fenrir Giant Wolf Race was involved in this as well, I had assumed it earlier, and it turns out to be true." Already anticipating significant events, the Alchemist Azote from the Magic plane, who had stayed to watch the drama unfold, commented mischievously as he saw Hati’s displayed aura.

The Nine-tailed Fox Race and the Fenrir Giant Wolf Race, though not ruling races like the Dragon Race, are still formidable Divine Beast races with many legends and great reputations in the two dimensions. To have the daughters of two rival races marry a single man, only a status like the Child of the Ancestral God could justify it.
