Otaku Witch
Chapter 2253 - 1129: Senior Sister’s Magic Eye
Chapter 2253: Chapter 1129: Senior Sister’s Magic Eye
It’s quite embarrassing, Cassandra almost wet herself.
Fortunately, witches don’t actually need to relieve themselves, and Lord Black Impermanence’s overwhelming pressure didn’t last long; the horrifying unknown darkness quickly receded.
When the frightening darkness finally faded from view, and the surrounding scenery of the room reappeared, the Werewolf Young Lady supported her slightly weakened legs, biting her teeth to stop herself from collapsing onto the ground.
Luckily, she wasn’t the only one feeling embarrassed; Cassandra noticed that even the big shots at the forefront wearing the Grand Inquisitor’s uniforms seemed startled. For instance, her own Mother Superior was drenched in sweat and similarly unsteady on her feet, fortunately aided by Aunt Hachishaku.
She was very aware of her Mother Superior’s power; although her direct combat prowess couldn’t match Fourth Aunt’s, she was still one of the better ones among the Supreme Peak, yet now she was scared to this extent by just a glance from Lord Black Impermanence.
At this moment, Cassandra really felt awe and curiosity for this mysterious big figure.
This was undoubtedly a Sage Level existence, and not just any Sage Level.
However, while some performed poorly, naturally others excelled.
Take Fourth Aunt or Aunt Hachishaku for instance.
But since both are Grand Inquisitors, not much else needs to be said. Truly disheartening for Cassandra was that among them were other witches wearing regular Judge battle robes like hers, and judging from their aura, their power was about the same as hers, yet while she was almost scared witless, several among them performed exceedingly well.
Like the one wearing a skull mask, another wearing a ferocious Evil Ghost mask, and the one wearing a Holy Knight mask.
Though these three judges’ auras were somewhat disturbed, they quickly stabilized.
Especially the one with the Holy Knight mask, who even unleashed an astounding fighting spirit.
While others around them performed slightly worse, they mostly recovered and reacted faster than her.
This scene made Cassandra’s face slightly unsightly.
She had always been confident about her talents and abilities, feeling she was top tier among her peers in Night City; yet just arrived at the Judgment Court, her performance seemed underwhelming, shattering her years of pride.
Fortunately, the Werewolf Young Lady wasn’t the type who couldn’t handle defeat. She discreetly pinched her thigh, using the pain to forcibly pull herself together.
Yes, she would earnestly learn from these seniors; she wouldn’t always be trailing at the end.
"Not bad, for all of you to remain calm under my authority, you are truly exceptional talents. So I have a mission I’d like to announce; not sure if you are interested?"
At this moment, Lord Black Impermanence’s cool voice rang out again.
As a newcomer who knew nothing, Cassandra felt somewhat confused, but the Werewolf Young Lady could clearly sense that once these words were uttered, everyone else’s spirits rose, their eyes lighting up like hungry wolves in the dark.
The judges couldn’t help but feel excited, because although the Underworld Faction was still in its formative stages, judging from the last operation against the Thirteen Vampire Clan Families, Lord Black Impermanence certainly was generous, really willing to award points.
The Court of Judgment’s Merit Points were rare currency akin to Library Points, far more valuable than gold coins, redeemable for numerous precious treasures unseen in the outside world from the Judgment Court’s Secret Vault, extremely cherished, with even the Grand Inquisitors being in dire need of merits.
Today, many Grand Inquisitors were gathered, about twenty or thirty, all of whom participated in the last Vampire Clan operation, having tasted the rewards; they were now eagerly listening to Lord Black Impermanence mention another mission, their hearts ablaze, eager to pledge allegiance, vying for slots.
Of course, it wasn’t surprising they were unsteady, lacking the poise and restraint typical of Grand Inquisitors, having heard very clearly just now that Lord Black Impermanence definitely uttered the word "authority."
That is authority, transcendent power beyond the Forbidden Curse.
Most Grand Inquisitors are Peak Witches, many still learning Forbidden Curses, still unclear on the Eleventh and Twelfth Circles, not to mention authority.
That power is what sages are qualified to explore, or rather, understanding authority truly distinguishes sages from peaks.
Many Upper Peak Witches actually exceeded the standard of 900,000 mana a long time ago, mastering nine systems with profound knowledge, yet remained stuck in the sage assessment, unable to comprehend their own authority.
The Witch Clan has existed for about 130,000 years, and in these lengthy years, the number of top Peaks isn’t insignificant; every millennium passes, roughly a generation, giving rise to about a hundred Peak Witches.
Accumulated over these years, the number of Peak Witches in the entire Witch World isn’t few, although only two to three hundred of the youngest are typically active, if accounting for those in retirement, there are still thousands.
