Only I am Venerable
Chapter 511 507: Kill the Chicken to Warn the Monkey
Casually tearing open space for a Void Crossing like this could easily send him to some unknown location. 'But at this moment, I can't afford to care,' he thought. 'No matter what, I have to escape this perilous situation first!'
Immediately after, his expression changed drastically!
THUMP!
A somewhat muffled sound rang in the crane-haired, youthful-faced old man's ears. He felt as if his Sea of Consciousness had just exploded. He let out a blood-curdling scream and instantly lost consciousness.
The crane-haired, youthful-faced old man's body vanished into the void, and the spatial rift snapped shut behind him.
Several hundred meters away from the old man, Qin Li was plummeting from mid-air. It was Leng Yao who noticed something was wrong. She rushed over and caught Qin Li just as he was about to hit the ground.
"Darling, are you... are you okay?"
Seeing Leng Yao on the verge of tears, Qin Li managed a weak smile. He waved his hand dismissively and slowly sat on the ground, letting out a long breath. "I was just a step too slow. That bastard runs fast! But from now on, he'll likely be nothing more than an idiot."
Just then, the Old Ape Bai Zhongshan descended from the sky and landed before Qin Li, his face filled with shame. "Young Master, are you alright?"
Qin Li shook his head. "I'm fine."
"It's all my fault... Sigh. I didn't expect him to be so desperate to escape," Bai Zhongshan said, looking ashamed and deeply frustrated. However, he was also extremely curious about the technique Qin Li had just used against the crane-haired elder. At the exact moment the old man tore open space to flee, Bai Zhongshan had sensed a powerful spiritual fluctuation, followed by the man's horrific scream. It was obvious he had been gravely injured.
"A Spiritual Attack," Qin Li said softly, then slowly closed his eyes. "I need to rest for a bit."
Bai Zhongshan's voice was grim. "Rest assured, Young Master. I will kill them all!" With that, his body transformed into a streak of white light and shot toward the remaining disciples of the Iron-blooded Hall.
Having failed the task the Young Master had given him and nearly allowing him to be injured, Bai Zhongshan was in a foul mood. He charged into the crowd of Iron-blooded Hall disciples and began a massacre.
Nearby, Shangguan Shiyu, Bai Zhonghuo, and the others were all extremely worried about Qin Li. Seeing Bai Zhongshan charge back into the fight in a rage, they knew Qin Li was most likely not in any serious danger.
In that single instant, Qin Li had used Instant Teleportation to cover a thousand meters. Then came the crane-haired elder's scream, and Qin Li had fallen from the sky.
No one understood what had just happened. Only a few individuals whose cultivation had reached a certain level knew that Qin Li must have just used a Spiritual Attack.
Leng Yao sat beside Qin Li, biting her lower lip. 'I'm so useless,' she thought. 'I'm still not strong enough to help him. I heard that Bu and the others have gotten quite powerful now. I can't let them leave me behind!'
As if sensing what was on her mind, Qin Li raised a hand and gently caressed Leng Yao's smooth, delicate cheek. He smiled. "You're already outstanding! Without you, the Qin Family would never have developed to where it is today. Besides, the speed of your cultivation is enough to put countless so-called geniuses to shame!"
"But... what I want most is to help you!" Leng Yao looked up, her cheeks flushed, her eyes filled with deep affection as she gazed at Qin Li.
"Silly girl, you've always been helping me. Your importance is irreplaceable," Qin Li said softly.
Meanwhile, the battle on the other side of the field was all but decided.
Of the Iron-blooded Hall's two Pill Nascent Soul Transformation Realm Martial Artists, one had been burned to ashes, and the other's fate was unknown. The remaining Shattered Void and Venerable Realm Martial Artists had all lost the courage to fight to the death. They knelt on the ground... and surrendered!
Once one person took the lead, others followed. Those who would rather die than submit were, in the end, a minority. There might have been more of them originally, but they were all dead now.
By now, Qin Li had recovered enough to move. That single attack had drained almost all the power from his body. First, he had used Instant Teleportation to cross a thousand meters, then, from several hundred meters away, he had gathered his Spiritual Power to blast the crane-haired elder's Sea of Consciousness. In that instant, Qin Li's own vast, ocean-like Sea of Consciousness had nearly run dry.
Even now, Qin Li's mind felt completely empty, as if there was nothing left inside. He couldn't help but warn himself internally, 'I can never pull a stunt like that again.'
'My Spiritual Power might seem incredibly potent, but I'm not a god. I haven't reached the realm where a single Divine Thought can instantly obliterate an opponent.'
Qin Suo approached Qin Li and pointed at the disarmed, surrendered men. "They've surrendered. What should we do?"
They had come for revenge. After one slaughter in the Mysterious Land where the Qin Family resided, a second in the Dianchi Kingdom, and now this third battle, their immense hatred had mostly been vented.
If these people had resisted frantically, killing them would have carried no psychological burden. But their courage had been shattered. Even the Shattered Void Realm Martial Artists had stopped fighting and were kneeling in surrender.
Killing those who didn't resist... unless one was a bloodthirsty Demon, an ordinary person would feel a psychological burden.
Qin Li glanced at Leng Yao beside him. Understanding his intent, Leng Yao retrieved an Elixir Bottle from her Storage Ring and handed it to Qin Suo. Her voice was crisp as she explained, "This elixir is called the Brain God Pill. They must take one pill, once a year, to ensure they live. Otherwise, when its effects activate, it will feel like ten thousand ants are devouring their heart. They will be tortured for three days and three nights before they finally die."
Leng Yao made no effort to lower her voice, and the group of kneeling men heard her clearly. Many of them instantly flew into a rage, raising their heads to glare at her with venomous expressions. 'How can such a beautiful woman be so vicious!' they all thought. 'Isn't this a blatant attempt to control us, to turn us into puppets?'
"Brothers, we surrendered in good faith to reduce casualties! But not only do they not appreciate it, they don't trust us at all! They've even taken out such a virulent poison to control and kill us! We're not idiots! It's better to fight them to the death than be tortured and die!"
"That's right, let's fight! Kill one and we break even, kill two and we come out ahead!"
"Let's fight them! I don't believe that with so many of us, we can't kill at least one of them in a siege!"
The surrendered group numbered two to three hundred men. With seven or eight among them shouting and inciting the rest, the entire crowd began to stir restlessly.
She She let out a cold snort. Her body became a black whirlwind, charging into the kneeling crowd and instantly scattering them. A few muffled thuds followed. The seven or eight men who had been inciting the crowd were all captured by She She, tossed out, and slammed onto the ground.
Then, She She sneered. "Kill one of us? You're a bunch of utter trash! My Young Master is being merciful by not slaughtering every last one of you. Controlling you is a sign of his high regard! Open your eyes and look! How many of us were there when we arrived, and how many are there now? You think a bunch of losers like you can kill even one of us?"
The seven or eight men She She had subdued in that single instant were all Shattered Void Realm Martial Artists. This outcome was even more shocking than her words!
One had to understand that although these men had disarmed and surrendered, their Power had not been sealed. Yet they didn't even have a chance to resist before she instantly captured them.
While one might suspect a sneak attack, capturing one or two could be considered as such. But seven or eight... who would dare call that a sneak attack?
And as She She had pointed out, the Qin Family contingent had the same number of people now as when they arrived. A few were injured and bruised, but they all stood there perfectly intact, looking at the surrendered men with mockery.
"You... What are you trying to do? We've already surrendered! We're unarmed! Are you going to kill us anyway? Are we not even allowed to vent our dissatisfaction?"
One of the Martial Artists She She had subdued and thrown out shouted fiercely, trying to hide the fear that was beginning to bloom in his heart.
She She glanced at Leng Yao and asked, "Little sister, that Brain... whatever Pill of yours, is there a way to activate it quickly?"
"The Brain God Pill," Leng Yao corrected. "There is a way to activate it quickly. You just need to have someone ingest it and then continuously channel Primordial Power into their body. That will rapidly catalyze the elixir's effects..."
"Good, say no more!" She She looked at Qin Suo and ordered, "Bring one over!"
Qin Suo already knew what She She intended to do. He glanced over at Qin Li. Seeing no reaction from him, Qin Suo opened the Elixir Bottle, tipped out a single pill, and handed it to She She.
Holding the pill, She She walked expressionlessly toward the Shattered Void Martial Artist who had been shouting the loudest. The large, kneeling crowd fell deathly silent, all of them staring in terror at the cold, beautiful woman in black.
"You... Y-you... what are you doing? I'm telling you, I'm from a branch of the Hai Family! If you kill me, the Hai Family will not let you go!"
"The Hai Family never intended to let us go in the first place!" She She said as she crouched down. She pinched the man's chin, dislocating his jaw, then roughly shoved the pill into his mouth. With an upward push, she snapped his jaw back into place. The elixir melted the moment it entered his mouth. Just as the man was about to spit it out, She She slapped him hard across the face, forcing him to involuntarily swallow it all.
She She grabbed the man by his hair, hauled him up, and then slapped a palm against his back. A torrent of powerful Primordial Power began pouring into his body.
Before long, cold sweat began to bead on the man's forehead. He clenched his jaw tightly, as if trying not to make a sound.
She She didn't stop, continuing to pour Primordial Power into the man's meridians. His teeth began to chatter violently.
CLACK CLACK CLACK CLACK...
The sound was like a death knell. The kneeling crowd below, as well as the other captured Martial Artists, all turned pale as ash. From the expression on the man force-fed the Brain God Pill, they could see the terrifying agony he was enduring.
"AAAAH! Kill me... I'm begging you... kill me, put me out of my misery! I... I can't take it anymore, the pain is killing me! Kill me, just kill me!"
Finally, tears of blood streamed from the man's eyes as he began to shriek madly.
