One Piece: Getting Stronger by Writing a Diary
Chapter 566 - 738 – Jabra Feels Terrified [BONUS]
"We have no way to deal with Arton. All we can do is report this to our superiors."
"Once they understand the situation we're facing, they probably won't blame us too harshly."
After thinking it over, Jabra spoke to his two companions.
Although they could only watch helplessly as Spandam, Enies Lobby's highest-ranking official, was taken away—and their superiors would undoubtedly hold them responsible—discovering Arton's location was also a major accomplishment.
The Marines and the World Government were desperately searching for Arton so they could capture him.
Arton's strength had already reached the pinnacle of the seas, and he was dangerous enough to kill Celestial Dragons without hesitation.
The Marines and World Government were deeply wary of someone like him.
After all, not even the Four Emperors had ever killed a Celestial Dragon.
It was no exaggeration to say that the Marines and World Government were now even more determined to find and deal with Arton than they had ever been to eliminate any of the Four Emperors.
Unfortunately, Arton had no fixed territory.
He spent his time freely sailing across the sea, while his pirate crew seemed to possess an extremely formidable counter-surveillance ability.
That made it extremely difficult for the Marines and World Government to locate him.
Even if someone from the Marines or World Government happened to find Arton, his terrifying strength would frighten them away from trying to capture him or his companions in any meaningful sense.
To catch Arton and his companions, they first needed to learn his location without alerting him.
Then, without Arton knowing, the Marines and World Government could dispatch enough troops and sufficiently powerful elite fighters specifically to deal with him.
Only then might they truly be able to capture Arton.
Jabra felt that this was his chance.
As long as he reported Arton's current location to the Marines and World Government, they could take targeted action.
Perhaps, with Spandam gone, he might even become Enies Lobby's new chief.
The mere thought of that possibility made Jabra grin.
"Laugh while you can. It's very unpleasant to hold it in, isn't it?"
A voice suddenly sounded behind him.
"You'd better stop laughing. It'll be bad if Arton hears you."
Jabra shook his head, completely failing to realize that the speaker was neither Fukurou nor the other CP9 agent, but an unfamiliar woman.
"Aren't you worried about the woman who disappeared from Arton's side?"
The voice sounded again, this time carrying a trace of confusion.
"Why worry about her? The one we truly need to watch is Arton... Hm?"
Jabra suddenly realized that the speaker was a woman and immediately turned around.
"Hello."
Ain calmly greeted him.
"What? When did you get here?"
Jabra cried out and sprang to his feet.
He could no longer control the volume of his voice. Ain had reached his side without him noticing, which was extremely dangerous.
Had she attacked, he might have been defeated before he could even react.
...
Jabra glanced at Fukurou and Kumadori.
To his horror, the two men who had been speaking with him only moments ago had already been frozen solid.
His eyes twitched wildly.
Although he believed himself stronger than both Fukurou and Kumadori, only Rob Lucci surpassed him among CP9's agents.
However, neither Fukurou nor Kumadori was weak.
Ain had frozen them in an instant, and neither had shown the slightest reaction.
That alone proved that if Ain had chosen to attack him earlier, he would probably have already lost.
He might even have ended up frozen just like the other two.
"Wh-What do you want?"
Jabra instantly entered his Devil Fruit form, assuming a wolf-like appearance as he adopted a fighting stance against Ain.
Ain did not care in the slightest.
In the past, she might have regarded Jabra as an opponent.
Now, after effortlessly sealing Fukurou and Kumadori in ice with her ice-shaping magic, she did not believe he posed any threat whatsoever.
Even without using the magic she had obtained from Ultear, she could defeat Jabra with her original physical techniques and Devil Fruit ability alone.
"You said earlier that you intended to report Captain's location to your superiors, correct?"
Ain asked.
"Huh?" Jabra froze for a moment, then hurriedly shook his head. "No, not at all. You must have misheard me."
With Fukurou and Kumadori already defeated, Jabra's expression turned grim.
This was not what he had hoped for, but it was the only thing he could do.
Although he had never truly fought Ain, he did not believe he was her match.
Merely thinking about the strange powers Arton could grant his companions made Jabra's head ache.
According to his intelligence, Ain should not possess the ability to control ice.
That meant she had most likely already obtained some related power from Arton.
Under these circumstances, Jabra had absolutely no confidence in fighting her.
"What a pity."
Ain looked at him and shook her head in disappointment.
...
She had originally believed these CP9 agents could at least let her stretch her muscles a little.
Now it seemed Jabra did not possess even that much ability.
He showed no fighting spirit toward her whatsoever.
"Let's finish Captain's instructions as soon as possible."
"Your name is Jabra, correct? Come quietly with me."
...
"Unless you want to suffer."
Ain narrowed her eyes, and a cruel chill spread outward from her body.
Merely standing beside her, Jabra could not help shivering.
This really was the power of ice.
Could Arton have granted this woman the power of the Admiral Aokiji?
Jabra's legs trembled as he screamed inwardly.
"You want us to leave with you? Are you planning to kill us?"
Jabra took a deep breath and asked Ain.
He could even feel a chill in the air entering his lungs.
"If I wanted to kill you, I could do it right now. There would be no need to take you away."
Ain replied.
