One Piece: Alucard the Immortal

Chapter 790 - 789: The Stray Cat of Schrödinger

One of the Beasts Pirates’ territories, Bannila Island.

Kaido gripped a massive sake gourd in one hand, the heavy breath billowing from his mouth like a localized gale that made the surrounding air howl.

"You arrogant bitch, you really have a death wish! If you honestly think you can take me down, tell Alucard to get his own ass over here!"

His previous battle against Hancock back in Wano easily ranked among the top three most humiliating defeats of his entire life. To be pushed to the absolute brink by a mere woman was an unforgivable, capital offense!

Hancock stood atop a five-meter-high jagged rock formation, her hands resting confidently on her hips. Her massive pet serpent, Salome, coiled alongside her as she looked down with an icy, arrogant stare. "Kaido, you are no longer Master’s fated rival. You are nothing more than a rabid dog left choking on his dust. What right do you have to demand Master’s personal presence?"

Kaido exploded with fury upon hearing her words. While he was infamous for actively seeking out death, his temper remained notoriously short-fused.

Once upon a time, over a decade ago, before either he or Alucard had ascended to the rank of Yonko, they had been lumped together by other pirates as the "Three Monsters." Because both of their unique abilities made them virtually impossible to kill, the world frequently tied them together, branding them as "destined rivals."

However, as Alucard’s strength scaled to terrifying new heights, Kaido found his own power hitting a ceiling, unable to break through to the next tier. Consequently, fewer and fewer people ever referred to him by that title anymore.

This lingering insecurity had become a deeply buried scar in Kaido’s heart, and Hancock had just ruthlessly ripped it wide open.

"Stupid woman! Once I tear you to pieces, I’m going to slaughter that bastard Alucard!" Kaido roared, hoisting his massive iron mace as he charged forward.

"The only one getting slaughtered here is you, you disgusting, rabid dog!"

With a sharp snap of her elegant arm, Hancock unleashed her power. The movement caused her ample chest to quiver violently as the local blood pool surged upward, giving birth to a horde of dark crimson, ravenous pythons.

"Go, Medusa!" Hancock commanded. It was her personal vampire familiar, Medusa!

Lately, the Immortal Pirates had concurrently launched massive offensives against the other two surviving Yonko: the Big Mom Pirates and the Beasts Pirates.

Dr. Vegapunk’s Science Research Unit was spearheading one front, backed by ambitious rookie factions like the Heart Pirates, the Bonney Pirates, and the Barto Club. On the other front, Hancock commanded the Kuja Pirates to strike directly at Kaido’s territories, flanked by the Golden Hair Pirates, the Black Thorn Pirates, the Iron Arm Pirates, and several others.

Suddenly, the entire world was plunged into a definitive, final war. If the two remaining Yonko fell, especially combined with the recent shocking news of the pirate Kuzan returning to take the reins of the Navy, the entire world, across both the light and dark factions, would effectively fall into the palm of Alucard’s hand.

A faction of the Revolutionary Army led by Sabo was fiercely determined to prevent this ultimate monopoly from coming to fruition, exhausting every resource to halt the advance. Yet, ironic as it was, Alucard himself didn’t harbor the slightest shred of interest in ruling the world.

"So the battles have commenced? Weevil vs. Charlotte Linlin, and Hancock vs. Kaido? Entertaining," Alucard murmured.

Just as Alucard prepared to invoke his "Schrödinger’s Cat" ability to instantly teleport to Kaido’s position on Bannila Island, he suddenly felt the space surrounding him warp and blur unpredictably.

"Hmm?"

Alucard’s immediate instinct was that a Devil Fruit user with a power similar to the Mirage-Mirage Fruit was attempting to warp his senses. However, he quickly realized that wasn’t the case.

Right then, the mechanized voice of the Undying, Unkillable System echoed within his mind:

[System Notification: Schrödinger’s Cat upgraded to LV2.]

[Concept: Existing everywhere, yet existing nowhere.]

[Quantum Parallel World Samsara activated.]

Alucard’s brow furrowed slightly. Although he primarily utilized the Schrödinger’s Cat ability as a convenient method for instantaneous teleportation, he was fully aware that the latent potential of this power extended far beyond simple spatial displacement.

Quantum Parallel World Samsara, the newly awakened evolution of Schrödinger’s Cat.

To sum it up in a single phrase: "To exist within this world, yet not exist within this world; to exist across all worlds, yet exist across none." In layman’s terms, it was the ability to traverse the vast multiverse.

"The multiverse, is it? Let’s put it to the test."

Alucard didn’t bother questioning the system, knowing full well the entity had never once offered a verbal reply to his queries. Nor did he care about potential dangers or whether he might find himself stranded without a way back. Everything he did was for absolute amusement; to live for pleasure and to die for pleasure, that was the core of his being.

There were no elaborate reality-tearing special effects or cinematic transitions. He merely felt a vast, eternal river of time sweep over his consciousness. When Alucard reopened his eyes, he was no longer sitting within his castle on Arderay.

Instead, Alucard found himself standing amidst a glacial, sub-zero wasteland. A howling blizzard whipped fiercely against his signature crimson trench coat. As he cast his senses outward along the frozen wastes, he failed to detect even a single presence possessing a powerful signature.

Alucard could state with absolute certainty that this was an entirely new world. Yes, without a doubt. But... it seemed somewhat different from what he had originally envisioned.

Crunch.

Alucard paused in his tracks across the deep snow. He cast a sharp glance downward; with a mere flash of his eyes, the heavy snow blanketing the earth exploded violently, as though detonated by an artillery shell.

What lay exposed beneath the blast were countless bodies. No, they weren’t entirely dead yet.

"S-Save us... please..."

Weak, raspy pleas for help echoed out from the buried masses. Every single one of them was clad in heavy iron armor, indicating without a doubt that they belonged to an organized military force. Furthermore, their sheer numbers were staggering. When Alucard utilized the River of Death to gauge their presence, his senses picked up a jaw-dropping four hundred thousand individuals. Even the entire population of Dressrosa didn’t amount to such numbers.

This was not a world defined by vast oceans; it was a world defined by the continents of the earth.

Ignoring the dying soldiers crying out for salvation from the snowbanks, Alucard continued walking toward the concentrated source of living presence further inland.

Following his triumph over the fallen hero Garp, it appeared a fascinating new pastime had just presented itself.

Meanwhile, within a heavily fortified military stronghold roughly ten miles away from Alucard’s location, an alluring young woman with waist-length blue hair clad in an immaculate military uniform casually delivered a brutal kick, obliterating the skull of a naked man who had been kneeling to lick her boots.

Looking out across the room with a gaze of utter boredom, she muttered coldly, "Is there truly no opponent left in this world capable of giving me a satisfying fight?"
