Chapter 197: 197/From "Grandfather" to "Victor"

Chapter 197

Stephanie’s point of view

The sight paralyzed my brain. My eyes stared in pure, unadulterated horror at the space separating the old man’s antique bed from the cold wooden floor.

Valentina, my sister who had barely seen twenty-two summers, was completely naked, lying directly on top of Grandfather Victor’s equally naked, aging body on the floor.

I instinctively took a sharp step back, as if an invisible hand had violently slapped my face, my back hard-crashing against the doorframe. My breath came in panicked, ragged gasps at the sheer, sickening filth of reality.

My voice came out in a choked, breathless whisper, barely escaping my dry throat: "What... what is this?"

Valentina scrambled with sudden, frantic movements, her body trembling with obvious, humiliating panic as she reached out to snatch the bedsheet in a wild motion, desperately trying to cover her bare body. On the floor, Grandfather Victor’s wrinkled fingers moved with frantic urgency, dragging the edges of a discarded robe nearby to cover his exposed, aging frame, his features rapidly shedding his initial shock to drape themselves in a freezing, marble-like composure.

Valentina desperately tried to secure the sheet around her shoulders with her trembling fingers, her breathless voice struggling to sound coherent: "Stephanie... it’s not what it looks like."

I shook my head in absolute, frantic madness, a sickening wave of nausea rising from the depths of my stomach to choke my throat. I shrieked into her face: "You cheap slut! What is this disgusting filth?! You and Grandfather Victor... I absolutely cannot believe this!"

Grandfather Victor moved with agonizing slowness, knitting his brows with strict authority as he attempted to reclaim his dominant power in the room. He spoke in his gravelly, deep baritone: "Stephanie, my child... let me explain."

"Explain what?! What the hell are you going to explain?!" I cut him off with a hysterical, sobbing gasp, my entire body shaking so violently my knees nearly gave out beneath me. I continued in a shattered voice: "That you are sleeping with my sister?! My sister, who is literally years younger than your own grandchildren?!"

Valentina’s expression shifted with suspicious speed, the fake mask of shame completely melting off her face. She took a bold, arrogant step toward me, her dry tone fueling my rage: "This is none of your business."

I turned to her, digging my nails deep into the skin of my wrist just to process the sheer ugliness of the moment, rasped: "Does Father know about this? Does he know that you are doing this disgusting, impure filth with a man the age of your grandfather?!"

Grandfather Victor took heavy steps toward the doorway, closing the distance between us. I caught the calculating, malicious glimmer in his gray eyes as he hissed sharply: "Stephanie, calm down... you will wake Cedric and Alexander."

I shot him a look of absolute, sweeping disgust and mockery, my chest heaving in rapid, volatile breaths: "Are you actually thinking about them right now? After this absolute filth you’ve committed?!"

With a sudden, violent movement, his thick, heavy hand clamped tightly around my arm. He forcefully dragged me into the room and kicked the door shut with his heel, the lock engaging with a sharp metallic click that cemented me in place. He anchored his strict, unwavering glare into my eyes, whispering in a final, commanding hiss: "Stephanie... what you saw here stays here, within these walls."

I stared at the deep wrinkles of his face and his sagging skin with a deep, visceral contempt that made me spit the words directly into his face: "I never, in my wildest dreams, expected you to sleep with a young girl the age of your grandchildren... you have utterly fallen from my eyes."

His lips curled into a mocking, freezing smile that completely lacked a single shred of shame. He lifted his head with dominant arrogance, stating: "I am a man, and I can sleep with whomever I want in my own estate."

"But she is my sister!" I shrieked, the dry-heaves tearing through my throat as my body arched in agony. "Do you feel no shame?! Do you feel no disgrace for taking advantage of her, mocking her youth and her complete lack of sense?!"

Grandfather Victor let out a dry, mocking chuckle that absolutely shattered my pride. He shook his head in flat denial, pointing his index finger toward Valentina: "I did not force her to sleep with me. She is the one who walked into my room of her own free will, told me she was infatuated with me, and threw herself at me."

My eyes widened in a sudden, devastating shock, and the cold hand of death gripped my chest. I spun my entire body toward my sister, who stood there with a sickening, unbothered stability, clutching the sheet tight around her body. I gasped in a ragged, hollow voice: "Valentina... is this true? Were you the one who threw yourself at him?!"

She shot me a defiant, arrogant look, completely devoid of a single shred of modesty or remorse. She lifted her chin high and delivered with absolute, freezing indifference: "Yes, it was me... I like Victor."

"Now he is ’Victor’ to you?!" I shouted in hysterical madness. "Weren’t you politely calling him ’Grandfather’ just yesterday?!"

She twisted her lips in sheer dismissiveness, stating flatly: "I love him now, and that is all that matters."

I took a sharp step back, my mind locking the puzzle pieces together in a terrifying realization. I whispered in a trembling voice: "You love him? He is the age of your grandfather... didn’t you literally tell me with your own tongue that you loved Alexander?!"

In that exact, catastrophic second, Grandfather Victor’s eyes dilated in a sudden, furious shock. His entire frame turned to stone as he whipped his face toward Valentina, his features instantly igniting with a savage, dangerous malice. His gravelly voice boomed like thunder, shaking the very foundation of the room: "What is this garbage?! What the hell does she mean by ’you love Alexander’?!"
