Chapter 167: 167/The Real Fucking Father

Chapter 167

Stephanie’s point of view

Before their toxic bickering could escalate, a nurse stepped calmly into the hallway, a medical chart clipped to her hand. She called out my name. "Miss Stephanie Miller?"

I bolted to my feet so fast it was a miracle I didn’t trip, treating her voice like a literal lifeline. "Yes! Yes, that’s me. I’m right here."

She offered a polite, professional smile. "Right this way to the examination room, please. The doctor is ready for you."

In the exact same millisecond, both brothers stood up like two towering, synchronized giants, flanking my sides so closely it was suffocating. The nurse’s eyes widened in sheer, stunned bewilderment as the three of us marched into the room together.

I stepped toward the doctor with an anxious, fluttering heart. She turned around with a warm, welcoming smile. "Good morning! How are you and the pregnancy doing today, Miss Miller?"

Alexander cut her off instantly, his signature coldness and deep, booming baritone immediately dominating the entire room. "She is no longer a ’Miss.’ She is Mrs. Volkov. My wife."

The doctor completely froze, the sheer shock catching her off guard. She nervously adjusted her glasses, her eyes darting between the two massive, dangerous-looking men with palpable discomfort. "Oh... I am so incredibly sorry. I wasn’t aware of a sudden marriage. Congratulations to you both."

I nodded my head, my face as pale as a corpse from sheer humiliation. "I’m doing well, Doctor. Thank you for asking."

The physician cleared her throat, quickly turning her attention back to the paper chart in her hands to break the heavy tension. "Well, during your last visit here with your friend, the gestational age was still very early. We were just starting to detect the flickering cardiac activity..."

"Yes," I interrupted, my voice eager and hurried, desperate to keep the focus off my personal life. "But subsequent scans at another clinic confirmed that I am actually carrying twins."

Her smile widened into genuine, delighted surprise. "Oh, my goodness, congratulations! That is absolutely wonderful news. Well, let’s have you lie down on the examination table right here, and we’ll take a look at the little ones via ultrasound."

I climbed onto the elevated table with slow, hesitant steps, my heart hammering against my ribs. I laid back as the two brothers hovered over the space like massive gargoyles, their eyes tracking my every movement, their held breaths making the air in the small room feel entirely devoid of oxygen. I pulled the hem of my shirt up over my stomach.

The doctor squeezed a dollop of freezing, wet gel onto my skin, making me flinch, and pressed the ultrasound transducer against my lower abdomen. The large wall monitor flickered to life, displaying grainy, swirling shadows of gray and white.

The doctor stared intently at the screen, a soft look appearing on her face. "The positioning of both twins looks absolutely perfect. They are incredibly healthy, and their development is tracking exactly where it should be."

A heavy, crushing weight was instantly lifted from my chest, and I let out a genuine sigh of relief. "Oh... thank God. Thank God, that’s amazing."

The doctor began tapping the controls, meticulously measuring the digital lines on the screen. "Based on the crown-rump length and structural metrics, you are at exactly fifteen weeks today."

Alexander shifted his massive body a step closer, his intense, burning eyes completely locked onto the gray images on the monitor. "Can we determine the biological sex of the babies clearly at this stage?" he asked, his voice thick with a dark, heavy interest.

The doctor chuckled softly, misreading the room entirely as she smiled at the screen. "Well, Daddy certainly seems in quite a rush to know what his little ones are."

Suddenly, without a single shred of warning, Cedric’s voice roared through the room like a sonic boom, wild, possessive, and brutally violent. "I am their real father!"

The doctor violently flinched, the color draining completely from her face. She stared between the two men in absolute, paralyzed confusion, entirely unable to comprehend the toxic, bizarre dynamic playing out in front of her. Trying desperately to diffuse the explosive atmosphere, she forced a stiff, polite smile. "Right... well, let’s check the anatomy right now and see what we can find."

She carefully moved the plastic probe across my slick stomach. My eyes were glued to the monitor in a frantic mix of hope and terror. The doctor’s face brightened. "One baby’s positioning is giving us a perfectly clear view, but the other twin is being a bit stubborn legs are tightly crossed." She looked down at me with a sweet smile. "The first baby we can clearly see... is a girl. Congratulations."

A violent rush of pure, radiant joy exploded through my shattered chest, completely obliterating the mafia, the threats, and the terror for one beautiful, unadulterated moment. *My little girl. My daughter is going to be with me.* In that exact peak of raw emotion, Cedric reacted with a blind, desperate passion.

His massive, warm palm shot forward, grabbing my hand with a crushing, emotional force, a brilliant, ecstatic happiness bleeding through his gaze. But before the warmth of his touch could even register, Alexander stepped up from the other side with absolute, tyrannical dominance. His large hand clamped down over my other wrist with a brutal, unyielding strength, completely freezing the very blood and pulse in my veins.

The doctor looked at the three of us, completely misinterpreting the suffocating display as some kind of overwhelming devotion. "You are incredibly blessed, dear Stephanie," she cooed, her tone dripping with envy. "You have two remarkably powerful men surrounding you with this much intense care, love, and fierce protection."

*Blessed?! Fuck you and your diagnosis... You don’t have a single goddamn clue about the living hell, the gunpowder, and the bloodshed that is boiling between the walls of that cursed palace over the babies inside my body.*

Suddenly, the rapid, rhythmic sound of their tiny heartbeats erupted from the machine’s speakers, echoing through the room like a divine miracle.

The steady, thumping cadence filled the silence, the doctor reassuring me that everything was structurally perfect and that the next appointment in a few weeks would tell us the sex of the second twin if they decided to cooperate.
