Chapter 146: 146/The Wife and the Secret Mistress

Chapitre 146

Stephanie’s point of view

My heart constricted with genuine panic and terror. Was he annoyed by my distraction? Was my performance in sucking so terrible and repulsive to this extent that he threw me out?

I stated in a low, fractured, and broken voice while still kneeling on my knees: "Sir... please, were you not satisfied with my performance with you?"

He fired back in a voice as cutting as a sharp knife, without even bothering to look at my face: "Dress yourself and get out without me hearing your voice or a single other letter in this room."

I stood up on my feet with an overwhelming disappointment, tears of helplessness burning my eyelids. I began to gather my discarded garments and put them on with heavy, clumsy steps, casting a glance at him from the corner of my eye every now and then with a faint, fragile hope.

He had completely immersed himself, with an enviable coldness, in grading some papers and files on his desk, as if I had not been present in the room seconds prior and as if my body had not been bare before him.

When I finished fastening the buttons of my school shirt, I stepped toward the wooden door and exited into the hallway. Within my mind and entire being, there was only one insane thought flashing like lightning inside my head: *If I am to lose my virginity one day... I want Professor Thorne alone to take it, and no one else in this universe.*

Courage gathered abruptly and violently in my veins. I turned my body around, knocked on the door with force and agitation, and then stepped back inside before he could grant me permission. He raised his head deliberately, his eyes radiating his customary coldness: "What else do you want?"

I took a deep breath, charging my trembling lungs with it, and stated in a blind, frantic impulse: "I want you to take my virginity yourself... Sir."

He anchored his heavy gaze upon me in a prolonged, dry, and silent scrutiny that penetrated every shiver in my body, stripping me of my clothes once more with his eyes, before he uttered in a low, menacing, and terrifying cadence that shook the walls of the room: "Stephanie Miller... get out of my office immediately and do not return with this nonsense."

What the hell was I thinking, and with what reckless adolescent mind was I operating when my tongue uttered that shameful request? I wished in that crushing moment that the earth would split open beneath my feet and swallow me into its belly so I could escape the sheer magnitude of the embarrassment, degradation, and rejection I had received.

I turned around with hysterical speed and ran down the long hallway with panting, weeping breaths, not ceasing my terrified sprint until I was entirely outside the perimeters of the high school. I could not believe my insolent audacity, nor the sting of his harsh expulsion.

How had I deluded myself for seconds into thinking that a man of his aura, handsomeness, and prestigious social standing would ever touch or fuck a girl of my simplicity and thinness? Surely he would not, and he would never look at me in that manner.

The sound of the wooden door of the room being opened with extreme violence suddenly and harshly dragged me back from the corners of that distant, dark memory to the ground of the present and the bitter reality. I turned around in terror to find that wretched maid standing before me with her cunning, malicious features, before she closed the door behind her with caution and a sharp glance to ensure the hallway was empty.

I knit my brows tightly and stated in a voice dripping with hostility and hatred: "What do you want, entering my room in this manner?"

She walked toward me with confident, swaying steps, stating with a fake, yellow smile: "We have an old agreement together, My Lady... have you forgotten its terms this quickly?"

I cut her off with a burning bitterness that choked my throat: "Have you simply come to demand a price for your silence regarding what you saw?"

She nodded her head lightly with cold features: "Yes, exactly. That is what I came for."

I took a sharp, narrow breath and stated: "What do you want from me then? Speak quickly."

She neared me by a few additional steps and whispered in total secrecy, her eyes gleaming with cunning: "There are three golden keys in this mansion. One key rests with the old master, Victor; the second is carried by Master Cedric; and the third is in the possession of Master Alexander."

I knit my brows in genuine astonishment and confusion: "Keys? And what exactly do these keys open in this house?"

She fired back with a sharp dryness that sliced through all curiosity: "That matter is entirely none of your business or within the boundaries of your concern."

I clenched my fist so tightly that my fingernails bit into the palm of my hand, and I stated with defiance and a clear voice: "I want to know what those keys open first before I move a single step."

She stood with rigidity and stiffness, stating in a low voice: "They open a secret door resting in the deepest corners of the lower basement."

My God... a hidden secret in the basement indeed?! I immediately recalled with a sudden shiver what had happened to me this early morning, and I stated with apprehension and fear: "I actually went down early this morning into that basement... and I heard with my own ears a strange, suspicious sound emanating from behind the walls there."

She shot me a sharp warning with narrowed eyes, stating: "The fewer details you know regarding this matter... the better it will be for the safety of your life in this place."

I asked her with visible agitation and a shaking tone: "What do you mean by this threat? What is down there?"

She completely ignored my question and continued in a commanding tone, her eyes fixed upon me: "What matters now is that you must take only one key from any of them. It does not matter from whom exactly by name, because all three of those keys are identical and serve the exact same purpose."

I looked at her in bewilderment and condemnation: "And why do you not perform this mission yourself and move to steal it, since you move freely throughout the mansion?"

She laughed with a biting sarcasm, shaking her head in disdain: "Because they are extremely cautious and never leave those keys away from their bodies or place them in an exposed location whatsoever. Rather, they carry them wherever they go and move, like their shadow."

My eyes widened in shock and fear of the consequences: "And you simply want me to steal the damn key from one of them?"

She turned to me completely, stating with absolute coldness as if it were a natural matter: "Exactly. That is what is required of you."

I took a step backward, stating with sharp agitation and a choked voice: "I am not a thief, and I will never be one!"

The expressions of her face transformed suddenly to drip with venom and black malice as she brought her head close to my face in blatant defiance: "Yes... you are not a thief, but you are a traitor and a whore in the eyes of everyone if I speak."

The bitterness of the harsh insult coursed through my throat like burning wormwood, completely silencing my tongue and paralyzing my ability to defend myself. I could not respond or find a single word to whiten my face before my naked reality, which she held in her hand against my dignity. I swallowed my choke with pain, stating with visible weakness and brokenness: "And why do you want this specific key with such insistence?"

She responded with a strict finality as she turned to depart: "If you truly want your old, filthy secret to remain safely buried within the confines of this house without anyone knowing of it, then you must bring me that golden key without asking any excess questions that yield no benefit."

I stated in complete confusion and helplessness as I sensed the magnitude of the disaster: "But how am I to take it easily? I have never seen this key in the possession of any of them before."

She answered as she placed her palm onto the doorknob to exit: "They always keep it inside, within their personal wallets and document cases, in a secret manner."

I followed her by a step with hesitation: "And how am I to steal it without them noticing? What if they realize it and I am caught red-handed?"

She turned her head to me slowly before opening the door wide, and a mocking, filthy smirk formed on her malicious face as she stated in a low voice carrying every meaning of derision: "You are Alexander’s wife... and Cedric’s secret mistress. Surely, you will find with your body the appropriate feminine way to execute that without raising suspicions, Miss Stephanie."
