One-Eyed Monster

Chapter 1386 - 1383: Another Corner

  • Next Chapter

Just as the entire Kayne Empire was steeped in a tense yet exhilarating atmosphere, another protagonist of this story, Kuyi Tulan, was sitting in a splendid palace.

His gaze was piercing, seemingly satisfied with the current situation.

This is the palace of the Vero Realm's Wensi Empire, and it's quite opulent. After all, this is the Queen's domain, and decorating it in such a grand manner is quite reasonable.

Kuyi Tulan was quite pleased with this palace before him.

He used to not pay much attention to such things, but now he finds them fascinating. The reason might very well be due to that Spirit.

This Spirit longed to be a ruler, always desiring to be high above. Such lofty pursuit was one of his goals, even if the human throne wasn't all that conspicuous, he'd still find satisfaction.

The throne of the Wensi Empire was quite comfortable, providing him with a sense of fulfillment.

At this moment, the Spirit felt that following Kuyi Tulan was a very good choice, not as unbearable as he had imagined.

The kind of melancholy brought by the Kayne government had vanished, for he was now entirely devoted to serving Kuyi Tulan without a hint of complaint.

The power of the throne was indeed evident.

Now, Kuyi Tulan no longer needed to suppress this Spirit. His ambition had expanded in another direction, drawing ever closer to the Shadow Ghost.

Of course, he himself couldn't sense this change; he felt as if nothing had changed.

Ambition, like wild grass, grows rampantly, and the speed of that growth is so silent, without any sign.

This growth of ambition allowed the Shadow Ghost to gradually seep into Kuyi Tulan's values, becoming a part of him... Eventually, the result was Kuyi Tulan becoming a true Shadow Ghost. No one could tell anymore who was influencing whom, who was suppressing whom.

Kuyi Tulan maintained his self, but essentially wasn't much different from the Shadow Ghost. Their mutual integration was quite natural and seamlessly executed.

These things were very simple; Kuyi Tulan could feel the desire for conquest flowing in his veins, and the Shadow Ghost also felt the sense of conquest brought by Kuyi Tulan.

They influenced each other, blending together, unable to distinguish who is who anymore.

On the surface, he was Kuyi Tulan, but in reality, how many truly regarded him as Kuyi Tulan?

His identity had long surpassed Kuyi Tulan himself, transforming early on into the new Shadow Ghost.

Even if he still felt unchanged, everyone else could see he had transcended ordinary existence.

The Vero Realm is another set of contingency plans for the Shadow Ghost, devised out of utter helplessness because the plans for the Kayne Realm had completely failed.

Originally, the Shadow Ghost thought of penetrating the interior of the Kayne Realm, slowly corrupting, enticing its Adventurers with Class into their service, but things consistently went off track.

The Kayne Realm was indeed the Source of Adventurers with Class; the Adventurers here are exceptionally obstinate, making it easy to fool only the lower ranks, while the High Rank and above were virtually immune to erosion...

What's more lamentable is that their actions, so secretive, were surprisingly discovered by these Adventurers.

Once such matters are exposed, there's no point in continued covert operations.

Yet, even if he wanted to engage in open warfare, he couldn't muster such equivalent combat strength.

The development of these Adventurers truly baffled him, their rapid growth and aggressive stance left the Shadow Ghost feeling a bit unsettled...

But anyway, that was all in the past. Now, he has experienced the thrill of conquest, a pleasure brought by Kuyi Tulan.

This kind of approach pleased him greatly, for beneath the throne lie subordinates; as a ruler, he could now overlook everything.

The Wensi Empire's palace was built so high, it indeed imparted a sense of superior elevation.

The fall of the Wensi Empire transpired in an instant.

The Gaoju Family easily ousted Queen Wensi from her throne and swaggeringly occupied it.

However, the members of the Gaoju Family, despite occupying the entire palace, didn't take the throne, seeming as if they were waiting for someone.

Outwardly, the Gaoju Family had taken over the entire Wensi Empire, and presented themselves as conquerors before the Vero people, causing the Sol Family to exhibit fear from top to bottom after their severe blow to the Tree Spirit in the Alfalfa Forest.

Yet, such a terrifying presence still chose to bow down before Kuyi Tulan...

When Kuyi Tulan arrived with the alchemical elites, the spectacle was indescribably grand; the entire palace of the Wensi Empire lit up with blue beams, akin to countless strands of Blue Lightning descending from the sky.

When Kuyi Tulan appeared before the Gaoju Family, the haughty members of the Gaoju Family actually knelt in unison!

This scene not only shocked those descending from the sky in the Alchemy Workshop but also left the Wensi Empire's defectors perplexed.

Not to mention anything else, the sheer descent from the heavens frightened them, although the Sol Family's Secret technique had once been demonstrated in the Wensi Empire, now most of those who could remember are on the run. They were excluded by the Gaoju Family, not merely because the Gaoju people pursued total eradication, but also because they inherently possessed stubborn cells, their bodies hardened into steel, impervious to others' intrusion.

The Gaoju Family members were the Soul Devourers strategically placed in the Wensi Empire by the Shadow Ghost, assisting the Gaoju Family to grow within the ancient Hunter ranks, then using the family as a shell for further development.

It's a contingency, hence no one noticed anything unusual...

They weren't familiar with Kuyi Tulan, but were deeply familiar with the Shadow Ghost within Kuyi Tulan.

The Gaoju Family's capture of the Wensi Empire occurred without mishap. However, this left Kuyi Tulan quite surprised, indeed it was the Shadow Ghost within his body that felt this.

Among the Three Great Empires, Wensi and Mantai were not easy opponents, their physiques inherently stronger than the Kayne People, additionally possessing an Alien Race, to easily conquer them was indeed challenging.

In contrast, why couldn't the Kayne Empire be conquered? Oftentimes, the Kayne Empire struggled to defeat the armies of the Wensi Empire and Mantai Empire, so why does the main force of the Soul Devourer achieve nothing within the Kayne Realm?

This phenomenon is truly puzzling.

Could it be it's strongly associated with Adventurers with Class?

Not likely, for the Wensi Empire and Mantai Empire also house plenty of Adventurers...
