One-Eyed Monster
Chapter 1342 - 1339: Understanding
Igor's conjecture was soon confirmed by the Spirit.
"That guy's ambition is immense. Not only does he want all the Spirits in our world to obey him, but he also wants to be the king of the entire world, making everyone serve him, like he's the World Tree!"
"Oh, has he expressed such intentions in front of you?" Igor could feel the Spirit's indignation, with anger occupying a larger proportion.
"He hasn't revealed it to us. He's an arrogant guy who disdains speaking with people like us," the Spirit said, with a hint of sadness in his tone at that moment.
"Still, he is of your kind. Facing such a misguided individual, you would have some sympathy." Igor said, recalling Master Guzan's feelings when faced with Kuyi Tulan's choice. Guzan's emotions were extremely complex, quite similar to what these Spirits are feeling now.
"He's very powerful, and we can't stop him all at once, but we must stop him. That's why I actively approached you!" the Spirit said.
"I'm honored, but we are much weaker compared to you. In front of that guy, our strength is insignificant!"
"That's indeed true."
Silence fell between Igor and the Spirit. They both knew what they worried about. Facing such a strong adversary, they had no chance of winning, yet they had to win, presenting quite a dilemma.
"He hasn't expressed his ambition in front of you, so how do you know he intends to replace the World Tree? Are you relying on speculation, on conjecture?" Suddenly, Igor remembered the topic he had asked about earlier, but hadn't received an answer.
"He didn't reveal his ambition, but his subordinates did. He has many, known as the Soul Devourers," the Spirit explained, thinking the matter was easy to understand.
"Does that mean all his subordinates are from your world?"
"That's not quite accurate. Our worlds are integrating now, and many of his subordinates are from your world. But these people are all seeking shortcuts, unwilling to work hard, blinded by power."
"Uh..." Regarding this matter, Igor felt he needed to carefully integrate and understand after returning, as it was somewhat complicated.
"We were fortunate to force him to retreat earlier," the Spirit continued.
"Fortunate?" Though Igor knew the process was arduous and that it was hard to push that guy back, he didn't feel it was luck, considering his plan was quite perfect.
"I understand your feelings, your plan was perfect, but we are dealing with a guy in an unstable state. If he was in a good state, we wouldn't stand a chance!" the Spirit explained to Igor.
"No chance..." Igor was skeptical.
"You must understand what kind of opponent you're facing. He has accumulated power over many years, mastering energy use to an ancestor level."
"However, his emotions..."
"Emotions are indeed his weakness, but it doesn't strongly affect his overall strength, and many things can't be seen from the surface."
"Well, how do you know his state is not at its best?"
"Because of the World Tree!" the Spirit replied, his tone carrying mystery.
Igor felt increasingly confused, as this was supposed to be his familiar domain. So many unfamiliar things were discussed that he couldn't digest them, and his time was running short. Despite the faster time within the Inner World compared to outside, he had consumed much spirit power, and it was hard to maintain it for long.
"Put it this way, you might understand better. The World Tree recently sent us a message that the guy was about to fall asleep but suddenly found a new Awakening. Awakening at the initial stage is very weak."
"Oh, I get it!" Igor's ability to understand was indeed good.
That guy was the Shadow Ghost. Due to recent changes, Igor naturally didn't know what the change was, for when he arrived, the Soul Guardian had already started battling the guy. So he didn't know during this period the Ghost broke away from his previous Awakening and connected with Kuyi Tulan.
"His unstable state is also due to the Awakening being similar to you, not entirely submitting to power. Both have their thoughts, believing all things are equal."
"These can be discussed later!" Igor suddenly interrupted the Spirit's storytelling because he didn't want to know too many details right now. What's important, he already understood the Ghost was in a bad state previously, realized the enemy's power, and interrupted because his time was running short.
The Spirit might not perceive it, but Igor's created Inner World was already starting to crumble due to consuming too much spirit power. If he continued, waking up might take a long time afterward, something he couldn't afford during this crucial moment.
Igor knew many people outside were waiting for him. Chances were there were many surrounding him now, but with his weak spirit power, it's hard to sense the outside situation. Only by leaving the Inner World and returning to reality could he grasp what was happening outside.
"Better to clarify!" the Spirit insisted.
"No need, I just want to ask one last question, how do I summon you in the future? You're really hard to summon!" Igor said eagerly, feeling his spirit power was barely enough to ask these questions.
"Hmm?" The Spirit was puzzled by Igor's question.
"Hurry, my time is nearly up, can't you feel it!" Igor bluntly stated, thinking the Spirit was indeed a bit dense!
"Oh, oh!" The Spirit finally reacted, "You just need to enter the Inner World. Now that we're attuned..."
Rushed explanations let Igor only catch a few words, but that was enough for him to know how to summon this Spirit.
Gradually leaving the Inner World, he returned to reality, where his Inner World experience greatly benefited him. He understood much about the enemy this time.
