After the Divine Enthronement Ceremony ended, Jing Jia still needed to rush back to the mortal world, while Bai Zhi’er returned to the immortal palace where the Heavenly Dao resides.

She sat dazed in front of the mirror, suddenly hearing a commotion outside.

"Bai Zhi’er," it was Feng Fuce who had arrived: "Come out and see me."

The Heavenly Soldiers blocked him firmly at the door.

"Without the decree of Your Majesty, no one is allowed to trespass!"

Bai Zhi’er closed her eyes, biting back tears, deciding coldly not to see him.

Feng Fuce’s voice continued to echo: "Bai Zhi’er! Tell me, what do you mean by this?"

She did not respond.

The Heavenly Soldiers gathered around, warning Feng Fuce: "This is the nine layered heaven, not a place for the Demon Lord to act recklessly!"

Feng Fuce’s stern face nearly overflowed with restrained anger.

He looked at the tightly shut palace doors: "I don’t want to fight them, I just want you to explain to me clearly."

"Bai Zhi’er—"

As his words fell, the doors opened from within.

Bai Zhi’er’s delicate yet aloof face appeared, and she looked at the Heavenly Soldiers: "Withdraw."

"Yes." Only then did the Heavenly Soldiers retreat.

Bai Zhi’er stood at the doorway, feigning indifference: "Whatever you have to say, say it here."

Feng Fuce frowned: "Why have you suddenly become so cold?"

"Have I? Maybe I’ve always been this way, it’s just that you never truly understood me." Bai Zhi’er dared not look at Feng Fuce’s expression, only gazed aside, speaking hurtful words.

Feng Fuce’s jawline was tense: "You’re clearly not like this. Those words you said before, about wanting to be with me, were they all lies?"

Bai Zhi’er took a deep breath, trying hard not to cry before Feng Fuce.

"I want you to understand a fact: I am a god, you are a demon, we were never meant to be."

"Then why did you give me hope?" Feng Fuce stepped forward, his gaze deep red with questioning.

Bai Zhi’er bit her lip and said, "Earlier, I was young and ignorant, but Feng Fuce, you’ve lived for millions of years, yet you still don’t understand what true love is?"

"I’ve never given you a serious response because I wasn’t sure if I liked you, but now I’m certain—I don’t like you."

"Now I want to focus on being the Heavenly Dao, and I ask you to return to the Demon World, not to stir up trouble."

Feng Fuce was struck as if by lightning.

His usually indifferent eyes seemed to show cracks.

"You used me?" he asked in extreme heartache.

Bai Zhi’er looked elsewhere: "If that’s what you think, then so be it."

Feng Fuce’s gaze instantly turned blood-red.

"Bai Zhi’er, you’re lying." He spoke through gritted teeth: "The marriage knot connects our feelings. I can feel it now—you are clearly in unbearable pain. Why are you saying these things? Who’s forcing you? What difficulties are you facing?"

He stepped forward, wanting to hold her hand.

"Whatever obstacle you face, tell me. Even if the sky collapses, I can withstand it for you!"

However, Bai Zhi’er turned her hand back to break free, causing Feng Fuce to narrowly avoid her slap.

Bai Zhi’er was momentarily stunned; she never intended to hit him.

However, the struggle was too intense just now.

At this point, she could no longer explain.

She only looked into Feng Fuce’s eyes, her voice trembling, yet forcibly resolute: "Stop deluding yourself. Maybe I really did use you. My childhood dream was to achieve perfect merit, to become the Heavenly Dao, isn’t that something you knew?"

"Don’t think that just because you accompanied me in growing up and witnessed my hardships, that it’s special. We can be friends, but we can never be together."
