Qingmei taught once and asked, "Did you remember everything? Where do we go to get the clothes?"

"To the left hall!" Cai Ying quickly answered.

Qingmei nodded slightly, "We will go to the left hall, and I’ll take you inside to familiarize yourself."

The Chief Aunt hurriedly followed behind them.

Upon entering, many busy palace Servants were coming and going.

Qingmei said, "I heard the Emperor ordered a phoenix robe to be made for that Imperial Concubine. It should be in the preparation stage now, Chief Aunt, take it out for us to see."

The Chief Aunt paused upon hearing this, "How could this be? The things prepared under the Emperor’s instructions cannot be casually taken out."

"Why not? We’re just taking a look, so I can teach Cai Ying how to fold and store such valuable clothes properly," Qingmei said sternly, "Take it out."

The Chief Aunt was troubled, "This..."

Cai Ying saw the situation and mediated, "Forget it, Sister Qingmei; when I come to help the Princess get clothes next time, I’ll consult with the aunties here."

"No," Qingmei resolutely said, "Chief Aunt, if you don’t take it out now, would you refuse with the same excuse when the Princess comes?"

The Chief Aunt had no choice but to agree when Qingmei brought up the Princess.

Two embroidery ladies came out, supporting a stand hanging with clothes.

A fiery red phoenix robe, with golden silk phoenixes whose eyes were just embroidered, stunningly beautiful and grand.

Upon careful inspection, the phoenix’s eyes even appeared to sparkle.

Upon closer look, it was discovered that its eyes weren’t entirely embroidered, but inlaid with two pure-colored South Sea Purple Pearls.

Cai Ying couldn’t help but exclaim, "How beautiful!"

She wanted to reach out and touch it, but the Chief Aunt quickly grabbed her hand.

"Miss Cai Ying, you mustn’t; this is cloud silk, and it will leave marks if touched."

Cai Ying quickly apologized, and said to Qingmei, "This robe is really nice."

Qingmei smiled faintly, her tone somewhat mocking, "Of course it’s nice; it’s not only beautiful but also symbolizes status. The Empress, is the Mother of the World."

"The Imperial servant can have six such garments."

As she spoke, she murmured distractedly, "The Emperor’s wife who shared hardships with him is still unknown to be anywhere now. Has she ever worn such a fine phoenix robe? Has she ever enjoyed the status of an Empress for a single day?"

Qingmei sighed heavily, took another careful look at the phoenix robe, and then, walked away with Cai Ying.

The Housekeeper Aunt watched them walk away and rolled her eyes at Qingmei’s back.

"She’s just a servant, lucky enough to serve the Princess. What’s the difference between her and us, really? Acting so noble, just because she married a Xiu Luo Envoy, she’s really getting more domineering than ever!"

"Now that the Princess has found a new Servant, I reckon Qingmei’s good days are numbered!"

Now, Qingmei and Cai Ying walk along the palace road.

"Sister Qingmei, ever since you came out of the Imperial Affairs Bureau, you haven’t been very happy. What’s wrong?"

"You’re quite perceptive, can’t hide from you." Qingmei gazed ahead and sighed silently, "I’m worried about Her Highness the Princess."

Cai Ying tilted her head, puzzled.

Qingmei said, "The Princess grew up under the Emperor’s care. She has always missed her biological mother, Empress Jing. For so many years, there have been malicious women trying to approach the Emperor, but the Princess has always seen through them and driven them away."

"I originally thought this Imperial servant would be chased away like the other women. But unexpectedly, she became Empress, and even the Princess accepted her."
