OMG! Tyrant's Pampered Baby Is a Valued Princess
Chapter 1485: You Actually Came Back!
After Bai Zhi’er finished speaking, Jing Jia gave a gentle smile.
She reached out to stroke her daughter’s hair: "Silly child, you must be overthinking it. The reason I say those little lustful hungry Ghosts are nothing, not worth our attention, is because for us immortals, subduing them is very easy."
"But for the Demon Lord, finding them is not an easy task. Their aura is very similar to Demons; even if the Demon Lord sends Demons to search, it will still take time. Besides, this group of lustful hungry Ghosts has thoughts of its own. They abduct girls and then hide deep in the forest; of course they’ll leave their scent everywhere, that’s to mislead the Daoists."
"Naturally, it will also confuse Feng Fuce, but he only needs time to investigate their location. I’m sure that these past few days he’s simply been busy, nothing more."
After hearing Jing Jia say this, Bai Zhi’er felt much better.
"I really was just making wild guesses," she muttered.
Jing Jia said with a smile, "You only start overthinking because you care. You like him, so you can’t help guessing at the meaning behind his actions."
She sighed a little with emotion: "Without realizing it, my Zhi Bao has reached the age when love first awakens. As your mother, my heart is all mixed flavors, and I don’t know quite what to say. I only hope that the way you like him is the same as the way he likes you."
Being a woman herself, and a mother, Jing Jia only hoped that Feng Fuce would not let down Bai Zhi’er’s feelings.
But Bai Zhi’er, blushing, said, "Mother, I feel that Brother Fu Ce likes me more, even more than I like him."
Jing Jia was slightly taken aback, then tapped her nose and burst out laughing.
"You little girl, aren’t you shy at all."
"I’m being honest with Mother—what’s there to be embarrassed about? I know that no matter what, Mother will understand me!" She wrapped her arms around Jing Jia’s waist, her voice soft and syrupy as she acted spoiled.
"You..." Jing Jia shook her head, laughing.
Bai Zhi’er let go of her: "Alright, Mother, I really have to sleep now. So Brother Fu Ce can finish quickly and come back sooner, tomorrow morning Xie Yu and I absolutely have to carry out our plan smoothly."
Jing Jia nodded and tucked Bai Zhi’er’s quilt around her.
"Sleep well. Tomorrow, strike a little lighter. You can wipe them out completely, but don’t make a commotion—no earth-shaking tremors that would scare the common folk."
"Got it, Mother!" Bai Zhi’er closed her eyes contentedly.
Before Jing Jia left, she blew out the candle.
Yet after she pushed the door open and stepped out, it was as if she sensed something.
Jing Jia lifted her head and glanced toward a corner of the dark palace eaves. She said to the palace Servant on night duty, "The Princess seems troubled, her sleep is restless. When you go in at midnight to change the tea, move more lightly."
"This servant understands." After the palace Servant nodded, Jing Jia finally departed.
Bai Zhi’er was lying facing the inside of the bed, her breathing calm and peaceful. Just as she was about to sink into dreaming, she suddenly felt strands of cold breath approaching from behind.
This familiar sensation made the drowsiness that had just risen vanish.
Her eyes flew open, but she didn’t rush to sit up.
Feng Fuce was sitting by her bed. He picked up the hand she’d left outside the quilt, his movements extremely gentle.
Bai Zhi’er felt it for a moment.
So, Feng Fuce had slipped his ring onto her hand again.
She couldn’t help sitting up; under the moonlight shrouding the darkness, her pretty face looked especially fair and tender.
"So you do remember to come back!" she huffed twice, like a wife complaining to her husband.
A flash of light slid through Feng Fuce’s eyes, like longing left unsaid.
He lowered his gaze with a light smile. "How come your resentment is bigger than mine?"
