Omegaverse: Salted Fish Life in the Yaoi Novel
Chapter 132: Ch 132: He Made Who Cry?
Han Jiho and Song Meiyu continued strolling through the village with their arms still linked, steps light and almost playful.
Behind them the rest of the group was having a far less pleasant time—especially the staff members still supporting the injured assistant director.
Lin Xuanyu trailed at the very back, murderous glare fixed on the two omegas while he absently chewed at the edge of his thumb.
The heated stare was impossible to miss. Han Jiho and Song Meiyu shared a low chuckle.
"How fun," Song Meiyu murmured, covering her mouth with elegant ease as she laughed.
Han Jiho nodded, voice laced with his usual dry sarcasm. "So fun."
They laughed softly again and deliberately quickened their pace, nearly skipping as they put more distance between themselves and the struggling group behind them. The playful rhythm of their steps only widened the gap.
The staff, realizing they were falling behind, hurriedly sped up—momentarily forgetting the delicate condition of the man they were carrying. The sudden increase in pace jostled the assistant director’s already injured body. Soft dust rose from the path under the hurried feet.
Farther back, Lin Xuanyu noticed the growing gap and began a careful jog to catch up. Even while hurrying he kept his eyes on the ground, mindful of every step. After all, someone as delicate as he was could bruise from the slightest trip.
While the people following the two carefree omegas remained caught in their various dilemmas, the assistant director finally reached his limit.
"My third leg!" he screamed.
The rough handling and sudden increase in pace had jarred the already injured area beyond endurance. The cry was sharp and involuntary, rising into the quiet village air without restraint. The staff members stopped dead, carefully adjusting their hold to a more stable position.
However, instead of being touched by the gesture, it further angered the man. "Why are you treating me like a cripple?!" the assistant director roared, fury and poison thick in his voice. He shook free of their supporting hands and roughly straightened his crumpled shirt. The fabric was still stained with dirt from the earlier drag across the forest path.
"Why are you following Han Jiho’s orders?! Is he the one paying you?!" He jabbed a finger hard against the chest of the nearest staff member. The impact was sharp and accusing.
The staff stayed silent. Privately several of them reflected that, in a way, the guests were the reason they were paid—but none of them dared voice that truth to the set’s tyrant. The quiet village path held only the sound of the man’s heavy breathing and the soft rustle of clothes as the group remained frozen under his tirade.
As the assistant director continued his tirade, Lin Xuanyu was still jogging lightly behind the group, deep in thought and completely unaware of the scene unfolding ahead of him. His eyes remained fixed on the ground, every step carefully placed.
"And you—!" the assistant director began, turning to scold another staff member.
However, he never got to finish the sentence.
Lin Xuanyu, still focused on the ground, collided hard into his back. The impact sent the already unsteady assistant director pitching forward to land face-first on the dirt path. Soft dust rose around the fallen man. Lin Xuanyu, carried by his own momentum, sat down hard on the ground with a startled yelp. The soft earth met him ungracefully.
"Assistant director!" the staff cried in alarm, rushing to help him up.
The man angrily shrugged them off and struggled to his feet on his own. Once upright he spun around, forehead flushed red and eyes blazing, ready to unleash his rage on the person who had knocked him down. The soft afternoon light caught the full force of his fury.
"How dare—?!"
The words died in his throat. His eyes widened as he recognized the fallen omega.
"Teacher Lin?!"
He limped forward at once, ready to offer assistance. The sudden transformation from murderous rage to careful concern was almost seamless—almost. The lingering pain between his legs and the dirt still clinging to his clothes made the shift less polished than he might have preferred.
Watching the sudden change, from the angered roar to the fake concern, Lin Xuanyu’s expression crumpled. Tears burst free without warning. The carefully maintained image of delicate vulnerability rose on cue, sharp and immediate.
"I’m telling this to CEO Gu!" he declared dramatically. He scrambled to his feet and bolted down the nearest path, choosing direction purely by instinct. Soft dust rose under his hurried steps as he fled the scene of the collision.
"Teacher Lin?!" the assistant director called after him, torn between following and staying. After a brief, panicked calculation—what Gu Chengze might do if Lin Xuanyu reported the incident—he made his choice. Fear won. He set off in pursuit, limping badly. The soft path stretched ahead of him, each step a fresh reminder of the earlier injury.
"Teacher Lin!" he shouted again, voice strained. The cry carried across the quiet village paths without dignity.
The staff members looked at one another, then at the rapidly disappearing figures of Han Jiho and Song Meiyu, then back at the chaos of Lin Xuanyu and the limping assistant director. A collective sigh passed through them.
"You three go with them," one staff member decided, pointing toward the two omegas. "The rest of you, follow me."
The group split at once, half hurrying after Han Jiho and Song Meiyu, the other half trailing the tearful omega and the injured man chasing him.
Up ahead, Han Jiho and Song Meiyu heard the fresh commotion and laughed again. The soft breeze carried the distant shouts without urgency.
"Haha. How stupid," Han Jiho said, shaking his head in mild disappointment. The familiar dry edge had returned fully to his voice.
Song Meiyu smiled at him, then glanced around the village paths. "Enough of the fun. Let’s report this to PD Xu Cui." Her tone was soft but firm. The playful lightness of earlier had settled into something more purposeful.
Han Jiho nodded. "Let’s."
They picked up their pace properly this time, the playful skipping replaced by purposeful strides as they finally decided they had enjoyed themselves long enough.

The two omegas continued asking around the village for any sign of a man with a distinctive goatee accompanied by a baby and a child. For the nth time the answer came back the same.
"I’m sorry, but no."
Han Jiho and Song Meiyu sighed in unison.
"Where did that old man go?" Han Jiho grumbled under his breath, briefly entertaining the idea of plucking a hair straight from the troublesome PD’s goatee once they found him.
Song Meiyu chuckled softly and scanned the nearby paths for more people to ask. The quiet rhythm of the village continued around them, with occasional footsteps and soft voices drifting through the warm afternoon air.
Then her gaze landed on a familiar figure—the indifferent man who had earlier taught them how to plant seeds.
He was walking along one of the nearby paths, his expression as unreadable as ever. His movements were unhurried, seemingly unaffected by the commotion that had been following the guests throughout the village.
As if sensing the attention, the man turned his head at the exact same moment and met her eyes.
Song Meiyu offered a small, polite smile and raised her hand in a light wave. She caught the still-grumbling Han Jiho by the wrist and immediately pulled him toward the man.
"Excuse me, sir," she called.
The man paused mid-step and looked at her questioningly, one eyebrow arched.
Song Meiyu kept her smile steady. "Have you seen PD Xu Cui? The one with the goatee?" She listed every identifying detail she could think of, determined to leave no room for misunderstanding.
The indifferent man gave a short nod and glanced behind him. He pointed toward a corner of the path. "Turn there and head straight for a short while. You’ll find him."
His voice remained as cold and even as ever.
Song Meiyu’s smile brightened. "Thank you so much, sir!"
She was already turning to drag Han Jiho away when the man spoke again.
"Wait."
Song Meiyu stopped and looked back, head tilted slightly in question. The man met her gaze directly.
"Why are you looking for him?"
There was no open suspicion in the tone, yet something about the calm question carried a quiet weight that made Song Meiyu’s palms prickle with sudden sweat.
She offered a wry smile. "Well... a fellow guest got beaten up rather badly." She carefully avoided naming Su Wanyan.
The man’s eyebrow rose another fraction. "Oh?"
That single syllable was all the reaction he gave. Once he had the answer he simply nodded and continued on his way without asking for further details.
Han Jiho and Song Meiyu watched his retreating back for a moment, then shrugged and broke into a run in the direction he had indicated.
Less than a minute later they reached the spot. PD Xu Cui was seated at a shaded table, attention fixed on two children—one of them Shen Guoxing, the other a girl they did not recognize.
"PD!" both omegas called at the same time.
PD Xu Cui turned at the sound and immediately broke into a smile at the sight of them.
"What? Missed me already?" he teased.
Both omegas rolled their eyes in perfect unison. PD Xu Cui only laughed.
"So, what’s up?" The teasing edge softened, though playfulness still lingered in his voice.
Han Jiho stepped forward and delivered the report with characteristic directness. "Gu Chengze got beaten up by Su Wanyan. And this time it wasn’t a single punch—it was a full beat-down."
PD Xu Cui’s eyebrow lifted. "Oh? Why?" He already suspected Gu Chengze had done something to deserve it. A small, satisfied smile began to form at the thought.
Song Meiyu sighed, expression troubled. "He made Teacher Mo cry." The memory of Mo Xingxue’s state in the forest still sat heavily in her chest.
The moment the words registered, PD Xu Cui stood up so abruptly that Han Jiho, Song Meiyu, and both children jumped.
"He made who cry?" he asked, stepping closer to Song Meiyu. Every trace of the earlier smile had vanished.
"Teacher Mo," Song Meiyu repeated, instinctively taking a small step back under the sudden intensity of his gaze.
Xu Cui remained silent.
For a moment, he simply stood there, his expression unreadable.
Then, PD Xu Cui exhaled once, and placed a firm hand on her shoulder. "Wait for me here. Look after the kids for a second."
Without another word he turned and strode away at a rapid pace.
Han Jiho and Song Meiyu exchanged a bewildered glance and shrugged. Neither of them fully understood how a single short sentence had transformed the usually mischievous PD into someone so coldly furious.
