Chapter 1876: Chapter 1876

Jin Rong closed the door and left the office.

Song Guanchao picked up the teapot, poured himself a cup, and leisurely savored it.

Qu Xiangru asked, "What do you want to see me about?"

Song Guanchao wanted to say, "What’s the rush?" But seeing her cold demeanor, he swallowed his words and told her about his research work during this time.

Qu Xiangru listened patiently. After he finished, she suddenly smiled, with a hint of sarcasm: "Since when did a Chief of Office get involved in research work? You’re really going all out to please Wu Qiangwei."

"..." Song Guanchao knew she’d react this way and wisely didn’t argue further: "Do you know anyone who’s quite professional in automobile manufacturing?"

"No," Qu Xiangru replied without hesitation.

Song Guanchao was speechless, realizing she was genuinely upset. He decided not to push it further or show any disappointment, lest she thought he was causing trouble.

He stared at Qu Xiangru’s face for a few seconds. Seeing her grow impatient under his gaze, he suddenly said, "You’ve changed."

Qu Xiangru raised an eyebrow as if asking: Changed how?

Song Guanchao said, "You’ve become prettier."

Qu Xiangru slightly curled her lips, her eyes rolled upward.

The expression was the same, but Song Guanchao could clearly feel her mood had improved significantly.

Song Guanchao stood up, walked around the table to her, folded his arms, stroked his chin, and commented, "I thought I was seeing things, you really have become prettier. Huh, seems your waist is slimmer too, let me measure."

With that, he reached out to touch her waist.

Qu Xiangru raised her leg to kick, Song Guanchao could dodge but deliberately didn’t, and he got kicked right in the knee, causing him to exclaim in pain and fall to the ground.

Seeing his miserable state, Qu Xiangru felt a bit sorry and instinctively wanted to help him, but stopped midway, crossed her arms, and huffed, "Touch me again, and I’ll break all three of your legs."

"Gee, must you be so harsh?" Song Guanchao inhaled sharply in pain and then suddenly grabbed her ankle when she was unprepared.

He traced his way up her pant leg.

Her pant leg was lifted by his hand, reaching toward her thigh.

Qu Xiangru was startled, instinctively closed her legs, trapping his hand, and blushing fiercely said, "Take your hand back!"

Song Guanchao chuckled and playfully tapped her, causing her body to shiver uncontrollably, her face turning a shade of sunrise, beautiful beyond words.

"Does Governor Qu have any dinner gatherings tonight?" Song Guanchao asked while still touching her inner thigh.

"Do I need to report this to you?"

Heh, still quite the fiery temper.

Song Guanchao gripped tightly, making her body tremble, as she bit her lip hard, glaring at him fiercely.

If she weren’t worried about the secretary outside hearing them, she might have kicked Song Guanchao away.

"I’ll come see you tonight," Song Guanchao said, finishing his antics; after all, this was an office, and the door wasn’t locked.

One never knows when someone might come looking for her; getting caught would be newsworthy.

"I’m busy tonight, no time to see you."

Qu Xiangru withdrew her leg, smoothed the creases of her pants, ignoring his advances.

"No problem, I’ll wait for you at your doorstep," Song Guanchao shamelessly persisted.

He refused to believe Qu Xiangru could resist.

In fact, he himself struggled to resist.

The colder and more serious she became, the more he wanted to conquer her.

"I’m leaving now, see you tonight."

Song Guanchao stood up, pulled down the hem of his shirt.

Before leaving, he suddenly made a surprise move, quickly leaning in to kiss her mouth.

Qu Xiangru’s pupils dilated, instinctively reaching to shove him, but Song Guanchao had already grabbed her wrist, pinning her firmly to the chair.

After kissing for several minutes, Song Guanchao released her, not fully satisfied.

Qu Xiangru on the chair had a face so flushed it seemed it could drip blood, her naturally alluring eyes looked like a bubbling spring.

The charm emanating from her body made one’s heart race and blood boil.

Song Guanchao smiled contentedly and turned to leave.

Back in his office, Song Guanchao leaned on the boss chair, pondering who he should contact to introduce someone knowledgeable.

Suddenly, an image popped into his mind.

Perhaps, she might know someone.

He picked up the phone and quickly found Chen Yirou’s number.

"Mr. Chen, are you busy?" Song Guanchao asked formally, uncertain if there were others around her.

"What’s up?" Chen Yirou’s voice was somewhat indifferent.

"Can I treat you to coffee? Are you free?"

Chen Yirou paused for two seconds and said, "Where are you?"

"Office."

Click.

She hung up the phone.

A few minutes later, Chen Yirou pushed the door open and came in.

After finishing learning at the party school, their relationship had faded, from talking every day to weekly, even monthly without much contact.

But in reality, both of them worked at the city government.

Just upstairs and downstairs.

Chen Yirou was the director of the Investment Promotion Office under the Jiangzhou City Investment Promotion Bureau of the Provincial Investment Commission.

Her main job was investment promotion.

Song Guanchao thought, given her line of work, she knew many professionals and wanted to ask her for recommendations.

Chen Yirou didn’t treat herself as an outsider at all, entered the office, pulled a chair, and sat facing him.

She glanced at the table, raised her brow slightly, "Not going to pour me a cup of tea?"

Song Guanchao grabbed a cup and brewed her tea, "Welcome, Mr. Chen, to come and guide the work."

Chen Yirou rolled her eyes dramatically, not having seen him for a while, this guy still had that cheeky demeanor.

But a single sentence from him instantly broke the slight awkwardness between them.

"What do you need me for?" Chen Yirou asked.

Song Guanchao explained the research situation to her, and Chen Yirou curiously said, "Aren’t you the Chief?"

Implying, as a Chief, what are you doing researching?

Song Guanchao brushed past it with a "Mayor’s assigned task," then added, "You’re familiar with Jiangyun Group, right?"

"Yes."

"I went around this group, and chatted with Chairman Jiang. The group currently faces some operational difficulties and needs guidance and assistance from the city government. As you know, I’m clueless about car companies, so I wanted to ask if you know any experts in this field. Could you recommend someone to accompany me and offer some advice?"

Chen Yirou immediately understood, thought for a few seconds, and took out her phone, saying, "I’ve sent you a number, contact him."

Song Guanchao picked up his phone, she sent over a series of numbers along with a name, Chen Xiangdong.

Song Guanchao asked, "Where does this person work?"

Chen Yirou said, "He is the Deputy Director of Shuanglong Street Office in Fuyang City."

"Huh?" Song Guanchao was shocked. I’m looking for an expert, did you misunderstand my request?

Chen Yirou said, "Don’t underestimate him, he graduated from Munich Technical University for his bachelor’s and Aachen University of Technology for his master’s, both of which he completed ahead of schedule. You’re aware of the value of Germany University degrees, right?"

Hearing the first half, Song Guanchao was already impressed, and nodding at the latter part said, "I know."

When discussing the highest value universities in the world, Harvard, Stanford, Cambridge, and Oxford are neck and neck.

However, when it comes to the world’s toughest universities to graduate from, Germany’s universities take the cake.

There’s a saying that goes well, three years of studying in Germany are the longest five years of your life.

That’s Germany University for you.

Other universities are either liberal admissions, liberal graduations, difficult admission but liberal graduations, or liberal admissions and tough graduations.

Germany’s universities are liberal admissions, no graduation.

Out of a hundred, ninety shouldn’t expect to graduate on time.

This Chen Xiangdong not only graduated but did so ahead of schedule, practically superhuman.

Song Guanchao pondered, "With such an impressive educational background, why take up a position as Deputy Director at a street office? What’s his reasoning?"

"Offended someone," Chen Yirou said in a casual tone.
