Official Career Storm
Chapter 1867
Chapter 1867: Chapter 1867
Before the meeting started, Wu Qiangwei had already guessed that they weren’t optimistic about her plan.
However, she wasn’t discouraged or disheartened by their reactions.
This meeting was actually more of a notification.
To let them know what she was about to do.
"Let’s have a show of hands; those in favor of restarting the industry park, raise your hand." After Wu Qiangwei finished speaking, she was the first to raise her hand.
Song Guanchao was the first to raise his hand; he was the Director of the City Government Office and had voting rights in internal government meetings.
Moreover, his influence was considerable, and his opinion was something everyone needed to take seriously.
Zhou Xingjian promptly raised his hand; although he didn’t agree in his heart, following the leader was most important.
Right after, Liang Jianfeng raised his hand too.
In fields he wasn’t familiar with, he always refrained from giving opinions.
Similarly, he wouldn’t let anyone interfere with his own work.
Then, Han Lan and Zhu Shixian also raised their hands.
They all realized that regardless of whether they agreed or not, it wouldn’t change Wu Qiangwei’s determination.
Chang Hai and Xue Mingde also raised their hands.
Sun Jiajun and Chang Youcai were eager for Wu Qiangwei to proceed.
Thus, the meeting regarding the decision to restart the industry park was unanimously approved.
Wu Qiangwei lowered her hand and said, "The initial research work of the industry park will be handed to Mayor Zhu, and if assistance is needed, contact Director Song."
Zhu Shixian felt internally bitter but managed a smile and said, "Alright."
After the meeting adjourned, Zhu Shixian went straight to Song Guanchao.
"Director Song, what are your thoughts on the industry park?"
"First, meet with Mr. Du to convey the Mayor’s intentions, spend a few days surveying the industry park area to check what public facilities are lacking."
"When do you think we should go?"
"According to Mayor Zhu’s schedule, I’m available anytime." Song Guanchao felt a bit exasperated, thinking, you are the Vice Mayor, and besides, Wu Qiangwei has assigned me to assist you; why are you asking me everything?
He didn’t know that Zhu Shixian misunderstood the intention.
She thought Wu Qiangwei was just using her as a cover; the real aim was to have Song Guanchao conduct the research.
"How about afternoon?"
"Sure."
...
On the other side, Chang Youcai knocked on Sun Jiajun’s office door.
"Mayor Sun, what’s your opinion on Mayor Wu’s move?" Chang Youcai asked.
Sun Jiajun replied, "Mayor Wu is full of verve, facing challenges head-on; I think it’s excellent."
Chang Youcai chuckled inwardly, thinking you are putting up an official act with me.
"Mayor Sun probably doesn’t know the situation of the industry park; that place is flattering to call an industry park and unpleasant to say it’s a ghost town. For so many years, aside from a few bus routes, nothing else has been added. The succession of Jiangzhou’s mayors and secretaries each treated the industry park as if it didn’t exist. They didn’t want to restart it? They didn’t dare. It’s her capability that others can’t accomplish; she can? Can she fly to the sky then?"
His words were somewhat flagrant, directly expressing his disdain for Wu Qiangwei in front of Sun Jiajun.
Sun Jiajun was a bit surprised and asked, "Can’t the industry park be revived?"
"Reviving it isn’t impossible; you throw in several billion and build a few large-scale supermarkets, then relocate almost half of the city’s companies over there, it surely would bring it back to life." Chang Youcai’s sarcastic tone spoke of revival methods but expressed mockery towards Wu Qiangwei.
Sun Jiajun smiled, "That’s an excellent thing."
Chang Youcai also smiled; indeed, it was an excellent thing.
He simply felt it was too good a thing, which is why he specially came to Sun Jiajun to share the joy.
He truly couldn’t fathom what went astray in Wu Qiangwei’s mind for her to come up with such a plan, akin to a suicide mission.
"Why does Mayor Wu want to restart the industry park?" Sun Jiajun, feeling joyful, posed the question.
Chang Youcai shook his head; he didn’t know, nor was he curious.
He only knew that Wu Qiangwei was going to fail on this project.
He smoked two cigarettes, exchanged complaints about Wu Qiangwei with Sun Jiajun, and then left the office.
Sun Jiajun picked up his phone, found Zhou Zheng’s number, and dialed.
"Secretary Zhou, there’s news that would surely intrigue you..."
...
"Restarting the industry park?"
Zhou Zheng was extremely surprised upon hearing.
His first thought was, is Wu Qiangwei crazy?
Followed quickly by suspicion, perhaps someone had been whispering in her ear, fooling her?
Upon inquiring, he learned the remarks Wu Qiangwei made at the meeting, and the surprise instantly turned into seriousness and gravity.
He understood why Wu Qiangwei was doing this.
She was eyeing his position, planning to go all out in a gamble!
"No way!" Zhou Zheng immediately overturned his previous thought.
Because she had no need to do so.
What she needed was to follow procedures and maintain the status quo.
Once the time arrived, Secretary Gao would naturally arrange for her to succeed his role.
"Could it be that she sees through my determination to join the Provincial Committee?"
Zhou Zheng’s expression changed several times; a vague suspicion arose, along with a sense of urgency.
If this truly was the case, the situation was not looking optimistic.
Following Secretary Tian’s suggestion, for him to join the Provincial Committee, he must have impressive political achievements.
And the most valuable is economic achievement.
Now, Wu Qiangwei’s proposal to restart the industry park was also aimed at boosting economic development.
This put pressure on him, making him feel somewhat agitated.
He had previously thoroughly understood and considered reviving the Wensong District industry park, even asked subordinates to draft detailed plans.
However, he eventually abandoned the idea.
Because the cost of revival was incredibly high, and short-term results were simply unattainable.
Instead of wasting manpower, resources, and time on a project unlikely to show results during his tenure, it would be better to consolidate resources on projects where achievements were more easily visible.
His expression changed several times before he decided to have someone monitor it.
Even though, based on his familiarity with the industry park area, he determined that Wu Qiangwei couldn’t revive it.
But better safe than sorry.
What if she managed to revive it?
There must be close monitoring, controlling the situation at all times to respond accordingly.
He found Pan Changgui’s phone number, called, and briefly explained the situation, instructing him to keep a close watch on the project.
Pan Changgui froze for several seconds when told the city government wanted to restart the industry park, then felt ecstatic.
Having an idle industry park in his district was a rather painful affair for him.
Even though he wasn’t the one who established the industry park, as the district secretary, he had to find solutions.
Thinking his career path was about to end there, he couldn’t predict the city government would continue to push the industry park!
Listening to Zhou Zheng’s advice, Pan Changgui almost guaranteed enthusiastically that he would surely coordinate closely with the district and city government.
Zhou Zheng’s lips twitched, knowing he misunderstood his intention.
But it didn’t matter, as he just needed someone who would follow progress and report back to him.
After hanging up, Zhou Zheng dialed Wu Qiangwei.
He cleared his throat, and when the call connected, he said, "Mayor Wu, I heard you’re planning to restart the Wensong District industry park?"
